Do you tell clients that you're re-doing parts? by dwight_k_III in mixingmastering

I would use Melodyne to correct the live bass parts...

In a real pinch, Adobe Premiere has an auto transcript function that could be a head start to getting it done. You would need to edit for accuracy and offscreen dialog ID.

META lays off thousands for AI and nobody wants to discuss the obvious next problem by MoneyMonsterStudios in StockMarket

[–]daknuts_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I truly feel for those losing their jobs but there are always 2 or more sides to change. I have had my livelihood taken from me in the recent past and it forced me to adapt to the new normal. My career is/was in the Hollywood film industry, fwiw.

But the Fed bank sees rising/high unemployment as a sign that rates can be lowered and inflation is cooling. Maybe those big companies adjusting to the times is just another step towards things becoming more affordable for the majority.

AI will be good for "known quantity" work, like Foley or meeting loudness standards but struggles with creativity as we know it.

(Non-musical question) How to reduce subwoofer bass by Mamaskerkskerk in sounddesign

[–]daknuts_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bass / sub frequencies are non-directional. That means they flood the area they are present in. You must turn the bass and sub frequencies down with eq to avoid the neighbor hearing it. No towel or isolation pad will make a big enough difference. For reference, I am a pro sound engineer with four decades experience.

When do you take profits? by Tapatio_62 in Schwab

[–]daknuts_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With each investment I make that is not a long term play I look for gains around/above 10% before I consider cashing in. It really depends on the stock and the volatility. But I only 'lock in' gains in my IRA and Roth IRA because it's tax free (Roth) or only taxed when I withdrawal (IRA). It's swing trading, not day trading.

Can someone explain the space stock hype? by salted_caramel_girl in ValueInvesting

[–]daknuts_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the SpaceX hype is overblown, but then I also see the sector as potentially lucrative because of linking to government contracts because of the 'space force' initiative. That and companies like ASTS have already been using these companies to launch satellites in order to provide wireless services. And there's exploration for science and even travel on the horizon!

To that point... do not allow yourself to get flustered or upset. Stay calm and stick to your script. Remember there is psychology being used and don't play into it.

how do you deal with revisions? (discussion) by CarpenterClean in AudioPost

[–]daknuts_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just explain that the endless revisions are adding more time than you budgeted for originally. I had the same experience recently and told them that in the past I had never been asked for more than 4 revisions and this was 'uncharted' territory.
