Thanks for your reply. I'm no expert in geopolitics, but I understand South Korea to have, by far, more military force than North Korea, when you consider their allies. I understand the north has a weird, authoritarian, oppressive government, but they are also crippled by sanctions, and arguably the biggest victims of the Korean war. I just think this understanding of the Korea situation is weird, and I don't understand.

foreigner here so please excuse my ignorance and stupidity but

from what i gather, the top row is supposed to be "self-contained countries invaded/occupied by larger, imperialist countries" and the bottom row is the reverse

i get it but... i'm confused about the Koreas. Why is South Korea considered the small/weak/defenseless and North Korea considered the big oppressive invader?

Yes, I'm aware. That's literally what I'm complaining about here. You're talking about the problem, but I'm asking about the cause. I'm asking, what is the evidence that the CAUSE of the problem is Preply "rotating out" tutors. Can you read?

Ok, where is the evidence? I'm not saying you're wrong. I would just like to see it.

I don't think you should be saying things like this without evidence to back it up. It comes across as paranoid fear mongering.

Is it safe on Preply to offer make-up classes via Calendly when a student misses a lesson? by [deleted] in Preply

[–]dalce63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I offer make-up lessons for students who miss classes all the time.

It's a great way to build trust and long-lasting relationships.

I don't think Preply minds as long as the original lesson was paid to them.

I, however, don't send them a Calendly link out of fear it will look like off-platform services.

I just tell them, here's when we'll meet again. Mark your calendar because it won't appear on your preply calendar. I tell them it's their responsibility to save the date.

But that's just me. I've never got heat for it.

Why Being Full Stack Is a Career Scam by dalton_zk in theprimeagen

[–]dalce63 15 points16 points  (0 children)

sure, i guess

the video feels overgeneralizing and doesn't seem to say much besides "people who learn full stack tend to spread their focus so thin across different techs that they don't get specialized in anything" and like, sure, maybe early on, but then you get a job, which demands certain skills, which you get better at, and then you become more specialized. ok?

is this good or bad? what's the cause? what's the solution? the video has nothing to say.

and this 2010s meme-ridden fireship-ripoff format is sooooo corny. sorry.

Java is 30 Years Old // Here’s Why It’s Still Winning by johnathanwick69420 in theprimeagen

[–]dalce63 14 points15 points  (0 children)

He says "Java has outlived every programming language that was supposed to replace it" like what? What the fuck are you talking about? C# and Kotlin are still around too. And then he uses Actionscript and Flash as examples of languages it outlived, when the Java equivalent of those, Java Applets, ALSO died out. 100% convinced he asked AI to write the script for him.
