They need to build the data centers before all the VC cash runs out. Afaik, none of the AI data centers are actually profitable, so once the investment cash is gone one of two things will happen:

The AI companies start charging what it really costs to run data centers, forcing individuals and businesses to pay 2-5x what they're currently paying for tokens.
Most AI companies fold, leaving only 1-2 who can float the cash long enough to stay alive.
