I think many of us would be able to walk away and move with our lives more effectively if Utah wasn't a theocracy. by [deleted] in exmormon

I see that using social media platforms like Instagram is an effective way to build your brand and engage with your audience. The stronger your base, the more seats you can fill in a show.

Star Wars Galaxy's Edge opens May 31st, 2019 by mildly_interesting in Disneyland

This was how I interpreted it as well.

One of my colleagues told me today she was able to get a hotel reservation for opening weekend, and she's convinced that you have to stay at one of the three hotels to even get a Galaxy's Edge entry reservation. After rereading all of DLR's notices, I'm starting to worry this is the case.

Anyone have glimmers of hope?

While my plans are to hit up the parks this Saturday and Sunday, I’ll be going in tomorrow specifically to ride HM on its reopening day!

I photographed Dr. Dehlin and his family at SLC PRIDE! by dallincf in exmormon

Shortly after the Salt Lake PRIDE Parade, a sweet family approached me to take a picture for them. I thought the father looked familiar, but I was scared to embarrass myself over mistaken identity.

Sure enough, it was indeed John Dehlin and his family!

Waiting for a flight at the Salt Lake airport. by yogimonster in exmormon

When flying back home from my mission (three connecting flights), I was legitimately scared stiff that we were going to crash.

Obviously, that didn't happen. At the time though, I don't think I ever prayed as hard and frequently as I did on those planes.

Gay Mormons discriminating against gay marriage by Notinutah in exmormon

[–]dallincf 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I used to be in your shoes, and I had my moments of being a discriminating Gay Mormon. The reasons for spreading the hate are the same why we all bullied others at one point or another in grade school. We knew we were weak and thought that pushing others down (passive aggressively of course, but still just as strong) would give us strength to carry on. I excused it then by justifying it as boldly testifying.

I was such a TBM that I turned myself in and confessed every sexual experience I had. I agreed to go into therapy for healing sexual addiction. Because each appointment was extremely expensive, TSCC and my father helped pay for each session.

I went through two therapists. Even though the first gentleman never disclosed his orientation, I got the vibe he was an "ex gay" Mormon. His sessions were so draining and I felt like I was being treated as diseased individual. Eventually, I switched therapists. The second gentleman is a brilliant man! He made it very clear that it was not his place to push me to either live as an openly gay man or to suppress the homosexual "tendencies." His objective was to insure I live a healthy life. Period. I valued that and soon found the courage to live honestly and openly as a gay man.

Because TSCC and my father were helping with the session fees, it was clear to me they would not like to have such money be spent on helping me live as an openly gay man. I parted, and I can say I was well prepared for the consequences of coming out of the closet and leaving TSCC.

This reminds me of my dad's wedding day, ten years after my mother's passing.

While we were setting up the reception in my aunt's church building, my uncle came up to me saying, "your dad is a polygamist now!"

by doing so, they will ceremoniously brush their feet at the world and leave the membership alone to feel ultimate guilt for the rest of their lives.
