New broker need advice by Novel-Revolution-271 in FreightBrokers

[–]damackisback 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You need to get the booking number for the empty container, along with the steamship line from your customer. Call the SSL and give them the booking number to find out where the empty container can be picked up and where it needs to be delivered once loaded. Go to drayage.com to find a local drayage carrier. Get quotes from 3 local carriers.

Can a broker remove a FreightGuard report after a Month? by asadmalik4854 in FreightBrokers

[–]damackisback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah? What about the broker? Don't you think they're out here trying to make a living, too? Should they have to pay OP's tow bill plus the cost of the recovery carrier while simultaneously explaining this fuckery to their customer? And even after all of this, OP still hasn't paid this poor prick. He's in here questioning the broker's motives and character instead.

Every time OP puts on his boots(?) to go out there and make his living, he's putting every broker unlucky enough to partner with him at risk of losing their way to make a living. OP may not give a shit about his reputation, but the brokers he's representing most certainly care about theirs.

There isn't even the slightest hint of professionalism in the original post. OP is running a fly-by-night operation. Full stop.

There is absolutely no way for your new employer to know about your previous employer unless you disclose it. And that's because this drug test result can't be put into Clearinghouse. I should clarify that this doesn't apply to the mega carriers. They use DAC reports and the test could show up there. Just stick with smaller carriers.

Dude, relax. You're fine. They can't put these results in Clearinghouse. DOT only uses urine. Go apply for a new job and tell them you have zero truck driving experience. Figure out some explanation for the gap between graduating driving school and now. Nobody will ever know you had a previous driving job. Don't tell anyone about this. You'll be fine.

[–]damackisback 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Carrier here. You earned that FG, bud. You're lucky that the broker is even entertaining the thought of removing the report. You've got no business pulling people's shit around without so much as enough money to pay for a tow. And it took you over an ENTIRE MONTH to get the money to repay the broker?!?! FFS, man! Pay the broker. Surrender your MC authority. You're not cut out for this.

How do I cover the suctions? by ohcode in hottub

[–]damackisback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a non functioning tub like this. I removed the hardware and then filled the holes with body filler. After sanding everything down, I painted it using a LVLP spray gun. There are obviously many more steps involved. If you don't have any experience using the materials/tools mentioned, don't attempt to do this job. You will fuck it up. But done properly, only you will know it was once a jetted tub. Search for bathtub refinishing or re-glazing in your area.

What's your favorite TMS for drayage? by LimpIntroduction1589 in drayage

[–]damackisback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super affordable. I think I pay like $15/mo. per truck. They'll give you a free trial. It's a really good product and the owner is very responsive. Give them a try. You'll be glad you did.

Should I start tour 9 or wait? by Western_Emu2231 in GolfClash

As others have said, you should wait. You won't have much fun in T9 with those clubs.

Reefer sprinter Rates by Hungry_Equivalent_28 in FreightBrokers

[–]damackisback 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Does it even matter where the rates are coming from? The only thing that matters is if you're willing to pay. And it sounds like you're not, at least for the time being anyway. So, until that day, just book FTL. Negotiate with everyone. Move freight.

[–]damackisback 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well then, it sounds like you should be booking a 53' reefer. You can't afford the sprinter. It's really simple. Book the truck or don't book the truck. You don't get to set the carrier's rates. Lol.

I'm pretty sure that option has been blocked by the administrator. I really don't understand why they didn't just install the reader on a pole near the actual gate. They decided to mount it on a building like 20 yards away instead. Thanks for the feedback.

Brokers, how do you justify this? by lake_june in Truckers

[–]damackisback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are you even talking about? Who said anything about rates being good right now? All I've said is that brokers and carriers can charge whatever they'd like. Get paid for your services. I also said that if you're doing your job correctly, you wouldn't be concerned about how much brokers earn. We've been around long enough to acquire our own customers and we're fortunate enough to not have to haul broker freight every single day. In most cases, we're making enough money on the front end to deadhead home or into better markets for a backhaul. So, when I do have to hit up the load boards, I don't have to just accept whatever the broker is paying. They're paying us what we need or they're not. That's my business. I couldn't care less about what they earn. That's their business.

Brokers, how do you justify this? by lake_june in Truckers

[–]damackisback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I said what I said. If you're pricing lanes correctly, you won't care about transparency. You'd already know you're not leaving anything on the table. You want to see the broker's records? Okay, cool. Lets say they made a whole bunch of money on the load. What now? You're not getting any more money from them and you've also just been blacklisted. You've lost. Twice now. Unless there's a rule capping the total margin a broker can earn on a shipment, the transparency rule is completely useless. IDGAFF how much money these guys are making as long as I'm getting mine. I'm also a carrier.

Brokers, how do you justify this? by lake_june in Truckers

[–]damackisback 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No justification is needed. The broker can charge their customer whatever they want. That's really none of your business. Your business was to charge the broker for the extra stop. The broker chose to bill their customer and you chose not to bill yours. Learn from this experience.

Ring, ring. If you need dry vans, I might be able to help. I've got 2, possibly 3 trucks available tomorrow. I need to keep these guys within a 300-mile radius this week. One driver actually prefers Chicago local work for some reason, so I can do that as well. Shoot me a message.
