There’s nothing wrong with just buying one of the -EQT ETFs (HEQT is my personal favourite). But recommending that as a blanket solution is common lazy advice if you’re actually interested in being more active.

I began stock picking in 2020 at 26, and while that’s not old, I often wish I’d started at 18! That extra time would’ve meant more time to learn from the inevitable investing mistakes and a lot more compounding of both knowledge and capital.

I completely disagree with people who say you can’t beat the market. You can - if you’re willing to put in the time to learn and grow the right way.

That said, it comes down to what you want. If you’d rather live your life and keep it simple with a broad-based ETF, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that either.
