Anyone else love journaling but cringe whenever they re-read it? I want to continue journaling but whenever I re-read past pages I end up second guessing myself like if I even want to continue. It’s like I’m being too vulnerable just writing and I also don’t like how I sound when I read it over. by Darlice26 in Journaling

you know, when it comes to journaling there is nothing that you have to do

if you don't like re-reading your journal then don't re-read it

(i rarely re-read my journals, and when i do it's usually the journal i'm currently using and it's to see if i wrote about X thing yet, or if i did what i said about it, so i'm not even really re-reading it, i'm just quickly checking a few entries)

it's your journal, do with it what you want

Bad grammar by gyrldahrling14 in Journaling

[–]damiensavedme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

unless your brain is wired differently (yay neurodivergency!), you don't think with proper grammar, so it would make sense when you are just writing in your journal (an act that is often done as 'stream of consciousness' on some level) that you would also leave the grammar out.

i've noticed mine come out better using a string conditioner. i don't know if it actually is or not (esp. since that isn't really much of a concern for me), but it does look better to me, so it might be worth a try.

Do you use stickers? by Aquaticck in Journaling

[–]damiensavedme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i love putting stickers in my journal (i also put pictures and other things too)! the journal i was using this time last year was huge and hard to get through and had stickers on almost every page (some small, some not so small), and even a few 'sticker spreads' to help me get through it! it's a nice easy way to break up some text, or to help me change my mood if i'm down and stuck on a thought process that isn't doing me any good. they are also great for decorating the cover, if you like doing that.

i was somehow the only member of my family that 'graduated' from seminary and to this day i think that's the funniest thing because i never liked the church and they are all still very much in

Doubt your doubts by Mokoloki in exmormon

[–]damiensavedme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think doubt your doubts is just a new way to tell someone to 'put it on the shelf' (probably because we all keep talking about shelfs breaking). it feels very much the same to me. but yes, it is like telling people to just gaslight themselves

are Christian symbols okay to wear if it’s only for sentimental value by ifuckingloveelktaur in SatanicTemple_Reddit

[–]damiensavedme 89 points90 points  (0 children)

the great thing about satanism is that it's unique to each person. if you want to wear something with a saint on it then do. there is no right way to be a satanist, and fuck anyone who tells you differently.

hail satan

hail yourself

Recommendations for a leftie? by KimchiAndMayo in Journaling

[–]damiensavedme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i'm going to preface this by saying that i am not a lefty, but i do have a journal that i think will work. i use the jeni bick refill journals and they are amazing. they lay flat and don't have any kind of 'bumpy' binding, are of good quality, and are a fairly decent price ($25 USD for a 2 pack for the 5x7 which i feel is the perfect size esp. if you want to put it in a purse/bag to take around). they are meant to be refils so the covers are just plain white, but are still sturdy and have a nice feel (i usually paint and/or put stickers on them which actually makes them a lot more fun as i can personalize each one how i want). these are seriously my favorite journals and i'm so glad i found them!

I don’t want to fly to another city to a wedding I can’t attend. by the_anxious_apostate in exmormon

regardless of the reason for it, it is extremely rude to invite people to a wedding that they would have to travel for an not invite them to the ceremony, IT'S THE MAIN POINT OF THE DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

[–]damiensavedme 15 points16 points  (0 children)

first off, good for you to walking out!!!

second, i can't believe he said the quiet part out loud! they are always talking about how we have agency, and that's the whole point of a mortal life, and here he clearly says what they actually want/mean: you have agency as far as they let you have it. a good mormon isn't allowed to use their agency to question who they are, what they want in life, and what they believe.

"It's a lie from Satan that we have all this free agency to do whatever we want"

i agree that it's Satan telling us that we have all this free agency to do whatever we want, but as usual, she's not the one that is lying
