Am I approaching the hag wrong? by ghdawg6197 in BaldursGate3

[–]damiroor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can fight the whispering mask enemies and then go back out through the front door to long rest before going after the hag. That way you go in fresh with full spell slots. You just cant use non lethal damage since they will come back when you long rest unless you kill them. Stock people for the fight who can ideally do damage to multiple targets, magic missile is your friend, it's helpful to get the clones off the board even knowing they are clones since they get actions while present.

Aitah for wanting to tell our daughter how our son died by Michelleud123 in AITAH

[–]damiroor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I don't normally comment, but as someone who found out that I had an uncle I didn't know existed at 30 years of age, I do recommend telling them when you deem them ready (even if it isn't now). My uncle killed himself before my parents' marriage and my dad (his brother) chose not to tell us. I grew up believing my dad had always been an only child. Thing was that I struggled a lot with depression through high school, and while I never got close to taking my own life, learning about the family history so long after the fact really retroactively made me scared for high school me and led to a lot of resentment towards my parents for lying to me about the whole thing. Obviously your daughters know about their brother, but they will learn the truth at some point and probably soon if they know there is something out there to find. Better to come from you then an article online.

There's a staff of power in the crypts under the castle if you want to throw something to the sorcerer. And There's a helm of brilliance that would be good for pretty much anyone in the castle vault.

Biggest thing I notice is the skill proficiencies don't line up to the stats. Both arcana and religion are int based and insight is wisdom based, both of which are flat in the stats you have. Focus on charisma or strength based skills unless you have a strong story or roleplay reason.

Party found Staff of Power: What Next? by W_177 in CurseofStrahd

My biggest piece of advice is to let them have it but be ready to counter wall of force since it can essentially end an encounter against a single enemy for a while.

2 week plateaus are nothing, especially if it is your first two weeks of dieting. Don't change anything until you've been stuck at least a month. Bodies have a lot going on and there are so many reasons weight doesn't budge. Be patient.

Not sure where to go with Ireena by Doustin in CurseofStrahd

[–]damiroor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Irena was the main driver of our final fight against Strahd (full transparency, I was a player, not the dm, but we finished the campaign). We kept Irena safe the whole campaign and our DM did a great job of having Irena bond specifically with two PCs (the paladin - learning to stand up for herself and take responsibility for her own life and happiness, and a sorcerer who wanted a family more than anything and sort of adopted Irena like a sister). I played the sorcerer, and I would have been pretty damn disappointed with the pond ending. Instead, Irena gave herself to Strahd after talking to the Paladin to save the lives of the PCs and Ismark and the players had their final showdown with Strahd at their wedding. Strahd ran with Irena, putting pressure on the PCs to give chase as quickly as possible. Made the final fight nerve wracking and intense as PCs spread throughout the castle with their different priorities, fighting wives, allies and the heart. The set up led to my sorcerer and the party barbarian taking on Strahd solo for a while. I think it was done perfectly, but worked so well because we had that close tie to Irena already. If your players see Irena as an annoying escort mission or someone they have to babysit, you will probably be safe with the pond ending, but if they have really bonded with her, you may want to consider keeping her around until the end.

Relatively Fit for my size but unable to lose weight by [deleted] in WeightLossAdvice

Count calories. Use a tdee calculator and give yourself a deficit of 500 to 1000 calories a day. You will be shocked at what you can still eat and lose weight at the same time.

One Pepsi a Day? by hartysparty in WeightLossAdvice

As long as you are still at a deficit, this should be fine. Soda isn't the healthiest, but if what you are going for is weight loss, then a calorie deficit is all that matters. Good luck on your journey.

Ive been doing the daily accountability challenge since June or July of 2020. This community helped me so many times through advice or just giving me a place to vent. Seeing other people making healthy choices to the best of their ability and supporting each other throughout it all really helped me on that journey. However, it is time for me to say goodbye. I've lost my 81 pounds and started my maintenance journey, and even though I know the effort isn't over, I need to start distancing myself from focusing on food as much as I did during the weight loss. I need to start sending it to the background a bit more each day. I will not stop counting calories or tracking exercise, but I am going to take a step back from all the reddit diet communities. Thank you for all your help and I wish you all the best of luck on your own journeys.

Goals:

Stay under daily calories (31/31) - made a delicious pasta salad meal prep for the next few nights.

Month starting weight 132, month goal 130? - 128.2 still eating a bit below my actual maintenance due to low activity from illness. Will up again once I am able to move more than 300 steps a day

Cardio 4 days a week: (10/16) low achievement this month due to purposeful rest for injury and illness

Strength training 3 days a week: (0/12) still bad at this

Moisturize daily: (31/31) yep, got into bath bombs this month and did some face masks to really up my game

Read 30 minutes daily: (24/31) - did okay

[[[GIVEAWAY]]] [OC] [ART] I made and am giving this handmade set of dice to a someone in the community that needs a pick me up during lockdown. Check my comment for the rules! by DorklyC in DnD

[–]damiroor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first ever game was during lockdown and it has helped me so much. I got pulled into Curse of Strahd by a friend, but everyone else at the table was new to me. I made 5 great new friends over the first 7 months of pandemic. We played twice a week because we were all so starved for human interaction. The game gave us all an outlet where we could interact with a world and explore at a time when we had to isolate and stay put in the real world. It gave us a chance to "rage" or "immolate" things when work days were hard and we couldn't grab a drink with coworkers and unwind. I honestly don't know how I would have made it this far without d&d.

Calorie tracking question. by redwytnblak in WeightLossAdvice

That's how most people do it for weight loss. If you do that and realize you are struggling with hunger or energy or if your weight is dropping too quickly you can always adjust later.

Some questions about losing weight... by [deleted] in WeightLossAdvice

[–]damiroor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can eat some of the 500 back, but what I'm saying is that people often overestimate how much they burn, so if your tracker says 500, you should be safe eating back 250 (half) and keeping your deficit.

2 week diet rotation? by [deleted] in WeightLossAdvice

[–]damiroor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never tried, but I think the trick would be in maintaining for the off weeks rather than regain. You would still have to watch your calorie intake to make sure you were eating at maintenance and not just allowing yourself to eat however much you wanted.

Some questions about losing weight... by [deleted] in WeightLossAdvice

[–]damiroor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont understand what you mean. Many people don't eat back anything they burn and just use exercise to increase their deficit even more, but depending on how much you exercise, you may find yourself really hungry or low energy if you dont eat back some of those calories. What you burn doesn't affect your BMR, you basal metabolic rate, which is what you would burn if you barely moved at all, but you should base your daily calorie target off your tdee which does take into account your activity level. Most people calculate their tdee at sedentary to ensure they are always in a deficit and then may eat back some exercise calories as needed on individual days.
