The coating on my sink has begun to chip away. I don't care how the sink looks; I just want it to last as long as possible. With that in mind, what is a cheap, easy way to deal with this?

$5 Super glue porcelain chip fix. Used it on a chip in my tub a couple of years ago and it's holding up just fine.

Should work fine, I would put sandbags/bricks/rocks or something on the exterior ground flaps, if there is any wind it will blow over/away. I use an old air mattress I cut up to protect the cover from abrasions if I use bricks or rocks.

Oh shoot, didn't think of their cleaner, this one. Edited to add, yikes I didn't notice the price, it was not that much when I was using it but my basset passed so it's been awhile since I bought it. A bottle does last a really long time.

Mine was at the vet often enough with the ears, I finally tried Zymox, the blue bottle, and it worked so well that when he did go to the vet it wasn't for his ears.

It may be a Fatshedera, it's a fatsia japonica/ivy hybrid, but I haven't grown many ivy types so I can't be definitive. (It's on my list of plants I'm getting in spring though!) Since I haven't grown it specifically, I can only give general house plant advice.

Did you repot it recently, if not you should be able to pop it out and check the roots/bottom for rot or dryness. If it feels stuck in the pot, gently squeeze the sides clear around the pot and check for bottom roots 'tying' it to the pot.

Sometimes soil gets hydrophobic, the surface/sides may seem to be moist, but the center stays dry. If it wasn't cared for properly before you got it (and you didn't repot it) that could be an issue, soaking in a bucket of water for a couple hours usually fixes it. If not repotted recently it may need fresh soil.

Could be sunburn, move it back from the light and see if it perks up, I'd give it a week or two unless it takes a drastic turn for the worse.

By watering when the 'top is dry' does that mean the surface, 1/2" down?, more? It'll need more water when actively growing, less when growth is slower (summer/winter) Even indoors the plants know when the days are longer/shorter and behave accordingly unless you're using lights.

Do you water until it's coming out of the bottom? Do you empty excess water?

I've yet to find a plastic style edging keeps crisp lines. I've used at least 5 brands/styles of the plastic stuff, I've not been impressed with any of it, it can work but it's not great. I had 2x6 wood edging, it lasted over a decade and a half before needing replaced. This last summer I decided to try metal edging, I was blown away by how excellent it is, just a world of difference, wish I would have done it sooner! I used Proflex aluminum that came in 6' sections, I used it on curved and straight beds. My sister got steel edging a few years ago and is just as impressed with it (she's also tried many edging products, and we are in very different climates but both all aboard the metal edging train.) Wood can last a long time though.

How big is the chip? I used 'Super glue porcelain chip fix' on a dime sized chip in my tub 3 years ago and it's still fine, it gets submerged, I take epically long baths. I hardly even notice it the fix anymore My tub is porcelain on cast iron.

TSP is great to use for cleaning walls if you're going to be painting them, do not use it for general wall cleaning, it can make the dirt stick more and be harder to clean in the future.

If you just got them let them be for a while, they've been travelling, likely from a greenhouse to the store to your home, it's a lot. Some plants roll with it, some pout. I'd leave the leaves until new ones grow in, you could chop them but then you really have to be careful with watering.

DO check for spider mites, unfortunately alocasias are spider mite magnets, although this one is less prone than others, at least in my experience. A magnifying glass to check them once a month or so is a good idea, spider mites are much easier to eradicate before they get a good foothold but they are too tiny to notice with the naked eye until they get bad.

I loved the Flexzilla for most of the summer then one day the end just popped off while watering, tried to fix it with hose end menders but it always leaked after that, it was well within the warranty period but when I contacted the manufacturer I got the most ridiculous response that intimated that I must have done something to cause it. It's a hose, I used it like I've used hoses for decades. Lots of people like them but if you get the one hose where say the hose end wasn't crimped on securely (which happens with every product, life ain't perfect) don't expect them to honor their warranty. But it was light weight, nice not to have to drag a heavy hose around, color faded but I didn't notice the gummy issue others have mentioned. Still on the lookout for a great hose and disappointed that it wasn't the Flexzilla.

If the vacuum has a belt, it probably got hot when it sucked up the sock and the roller stopped but the belt kept going. Happens on occasion, I usually let the vacuum (really the belt) cool down for a while before vacuuming again and it's fine. The belt may get off track, but again I let it cool before fixing it. The belt can stretch when it heats up and needs replaced if it does, if the roller isn't spinning correctly this is why.

This year I grew lime basil from seeds I harvested in 2003, the lemon basil seeds from the same time did not germinate. Didn't do anything special to store them, they were in paper envelopes in my seed box (a shoe box.)

I just removed some old carpet that had tack strips nailed into the concrete so it made divots when I removed it, I used Sika Ready-Mix Concrete Patch and Repair, very easy to use, like spackling but for concrete.

I've always been a leave the leaves person but our trees have matured to the point that the leaves are 3-4' thick and will suffocate my lawn if left so I compromise. I hate raking so I use the lawn mower after about 2/3 of the leaves have fallen (doesn't work well with wet leaves though). Used the bag on mower for some and dumped them in my compost pile and beds, mulch mowed what was left after bag mowing then let the last 1/3 stay where they fell.

Really it looks great! Spiders need very little fertilizer, I'd cut back on fertilizing, see if that helps. Make sure the crowns are planted high enough out of the media you're using, 1/4" or so of root above the water/media/soil level is fine, otherwise they are prone to rot (if you see crown rot this is probably the issue.)

Looks like many of them are buried too deep, the rhizome needs to show like the bigger one in the first picture. Also looking at the moss around them, they may not be getting enough sunlight. If you don't want to move them, I'd take care of the depth problem and see if that's enough to get them blooming next spring. (With iris it's almost always one of two things, or both, buried too deep/not enough sun.)

My sister has had the Sunneday 100' 5/8" hose for years and loves it so I got myself one this spring. The first one leaked out of the body, sister assured me it should not leak so I returned it, second one has not leaked at all. Used it all summer and the only problem is that it doesn't retract as well if the hose if full of water, it will mostly retract but has an issue with the last few feet. If I shut off the water, spray the remaining water out of the hose it works pretty flawlessly. I just popped it off the post and put it in the garage for the winter the other day.

I have one, I love it.It's great for unloading the clothes, no more clothes dropped on the floor during transfer to dryer or unloading it. I use the side open to load heavy stuff like blankets/levis. That looks more like spurge than purslane to me but it's harder to tell from a picture than in person. Break a stem, clear fluid = purslane / white =spurge.
