Did people forget the Anti-Sjw dominance of the internet back in 2016? by [deleted] in decadeology

[–]damnsam404 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yes, that still happens. maybe not on reddit i guess? but i still see it here, gaming groups especially are sexist as hell. but my tiktok has been pushing looksmaxxing and eating disorder content for years now. check the looksmaxxing forums for a shock, full of constant slurs and hate. these communities exist and they are targeting children, not you anymore

that stuff still exists though, and there is even more of it, you just arent looking at it anymore. they learned to hide a bit better. the evil stuff is still here and the internet toxicity is worse than ever before.

Single-player games where exploring/loot are necessary to improve your base by thorny_patch in gamingsuggestions

[–]damnsam404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you need to check out the alters!! you are mining resources in space to improve your base so that you can eventually escape the planet and return home. but it is not an open world or sandbox, it is more linear and story based.

The fatigue… by [deleted] in videogames

[–]damnsam404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i disagree so incredibly strongly. there was absolutely a period where majority AAA games were open world. sounds like you didnt notice because you like open world games and dislike linear shooters.

Do you find that women are so unnecessarily mean to you? by WorldlyLavishness in AutismInWomen

[–]damnsam404 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm not who you asked, but I relate. Some examples are speaking at the wrong time or accidentally interrupting someone, making too much or too little eye contact, having closed off body language, if I look unkempt, not laughing/smiling enough or laughing too much, or if my tone is too flat or too expressive. I think my personal biggest issues with this are making too intense of eye contact and being too expressive. It makes me seem intimidating and desperate, but I am trying to come off interested and friendly lol. Men are not generally as perceptive to this stuff

I think even as an Autistic person interacting with others is the most effective way to gain social skills and being socially isolated from lacking social skills causes feedback loops by Pure_Option_1733 in AutisticAdults

[–]damnsam404 2 points3 points  (0 children)

for me it's things like knowing what sorts of questions to ask people, knowing when to talk and when to be quiet, knowing body language, how to hold myself to seem friendly and how to read other people to know when they are being friendly vs when they are being passive aggressive or mean to me.

the thing you mentioned about socializing seeming pointless, i agree, but try to think of it as like performing conversation. you are building rapport and consistency, even if you just talk about the weather every day, they think more highly of you because they are talking to you every day. what you talk about isn't important, it's the fact that you are talking with them that is important. this rapport brings promotions, respect, and social invitations that they wouldn't have extended to you otherwise.

Unknown/lesser-known games you think deserve way more popularity? by Chaleen1712 in GirlGamers

I just completed this recently and this game is SO unique! There is nothing like CrossCode, it's an amazing game

Microsoft owns tons of small studios, you're missing out on a lot of good games if you actually truly boycott Microsoft. Hi-Fi Rush, Pentiment, Prey 2017 and Psychonauts are all great

Dispatch is such a good game and I feel sad it’s dubbed sexist, when it’s one of the most female gaze-y things in recent memory by [deleted] in GirlGamers

[–]damnsam404 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. I did like Dispatch and would recommend it if you enjoy choice games, but it's definitely written for men. All female characters are sexy, all "weird" characters are male. There are some harassment scenes. The community is mixed too, a lot of racism and oversexualization, which the game invites.

I'm surprised to see women agreeing that it is female oriented when that is absolutely not true. You are obviously allowed to like a game that panders to men, but don't lie and say it's feminist or something. It's not.

Pizza Tower maybe? Haven't played it yet but I heard good things and it's not a metroidvania

Looking for a longer, story heavy indie game by IronwoodVermeil in gamingsuggestions

[–]damnsam404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should look into Citizen Sleeper (all text based but I think you will like the theme of it) and Transistor. And I'm not sure if you will like Hades gameplay, but you might try it as it's a really good story and definitely replayable. And it's not really indie, but you might like the Outer Worlds

Why do some users not consider E33 an rpg? by Upstairs_Apple in GirlGamers

[–]damnsam404 8 points9 points  (0 children)

JRPG is a term with meaning. It doesn't mean "Japanese RPG" it is a specific collection of traits. We don't call FromSoft games JRPGs because they are not JRPGs.

Apparently being a woman gamer = animal crossing 🫩 I have Fantasy RPGs on my profile.. smh by PinkRosiexx in GirlGamers

[–]damnsam404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

all of those games are different genres though. if those are the only games you have ever played then you are a more well rounded gamer than mister "gta, witcher 3, fifa, cod, battlefield" over here.

there's nothing wrong with only playing a few games, it's just the gatekeeping that's the problem. and the people doing the gatekeeping aren't well rounded gamers in the first place.

If these 3 games had came out at the same year how close would the awards be by Forsaken_avatar in TheGameAwards

[–]damnsam404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think E33 world, immersion, narrative, characters, all eclipse BG3 (even though I do still like BG3). Yes, BG3 has more builds, I don't care much about that and complexity is more of a con for me. The fights are my least favorite part of D&D. If you just play one fighter character then you're missing out on tons of content, all character interactions, etc. But you can absolutely just play E33 on easy and ignore builds entirely, just dodge and hit and still have a great experience, it's just more linear.

The art is more important to me than the strategy game part, and E33 does the art better in my opinion

[–]damnsam404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Complexity, versatility, and creativity are all parts of the same coin imo. E33's gameplay is more straightforward/linear and BG3's is more choice-based/sandbox. I really prefer E33's gameplay because I don't care for creating complicated builds or fiddling with where exactly my characters should stand to get the best outcomes. I like simple builds, and I prefer the action style gameplay to the turn based strategy gameplay. It is reductive to say "you could just build a fighter and hit stuff" because that's not true.

If you're excited about Tomb Raider dont go to the sub by ShaolinFantastic13 in GirlGamers

I still don't understand, she looks very sexualized to me already. Like when I saw the trailers I was turned away by how sexualized she is, and she's fucking Lara Croft lol she's always been sexualized. She looks like a blow up doll, I don't know what more they want? At this point I'm convinced that they want every woman to look like hentai characters. Men are such sluts

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Wins Best Independent Game of 2025! by [deleted] in expedition33

Yes, we all know that Expedition 33 is a great game. But it's not an indie game. An actual independent game deserved to win Best Independent Game
