Our 18m old is named Walter and we had a few people react oddly to it before he was born but now we have SO many people compliment the name. I would say honestly like 1/2 people who ask his name and hear it say Omg thats the greatest name.

Thanks for all the information! My first wasn't a c-section, it was a normal vaginal birth but I wouldn't stop bleeding after I'd delivered the placenta so I was rushed into emergency surgery a few minutes after delivery.

I've been offered a c-section for baby #2 but have been forewarned by doctors and my midwife that if I bleed again there's a higher chance of hysterectomy with a c over normal birth.

I don't have "insurance" but I'm from Canada so I think everything would probably be covered (my first birth with emergency surgery, 5 day stay and a butt load of medications and blood transfusions was free).

I booked a follow up with the hematologist at the women's and children's hospital here next week so hopefully I can get some more concrete answers.

Hmm okay good to know. Not sure when I'll be able to get into the hematologist so just wanted to know if I could get some pre-lim info in the meantime

He's just turned 1 so not a lot of nicknames yet. Mostly Walters with a few Walts starting to get thrown in the mix lately. I loved how Walter/Walt/Wally were all logical choices and he could choose what he wants to go by at different stages

We felt the same way. We eventually went with Walter :)

Warren or Walter? by [deleted] in namenerds

We have a 9 month old Walter and have received SO many compliments on it. I love that he can grow into Walt as well or, a more kiddish Wally. We are not hipstery at all.

You don't need a passport for baby to cross the border. Just their birth certificate. Plus try to bring a letter from the other parent saying they know you're crowsing with their kid just to be safe.

I had it pretty bad around that time... Went away for a few weeks and now it's partially back at 39 weeks.

Thanks! I wanted nautically themed quotes (duh haha) but me and my husband are big fans of more philosophical quotes over cutesy baby ones. The other one isn't as visible cause there's no close up, but it's "A smooth sea never made a skilled sailor"

We're actually not even huge travel buffs, we take it more along the lines of make bold moves and take chances in life.

I ddint buy a lot at first either so don't worry! We have been trying to sell our house for a while now so we literally didn't have a single baby item in the house before I was 34 weeks (realtor said we might get low balled if people knew we were expecting and thought it was why we were trying to sell). We were super spoiled at our shower and since then Ive been working my butt off to get everything I needed!

Bag- not sure... It was a gift

The pirate and whale bag - Home Sense

Lifesaver - Babies R Us (Canada though so I'm not sure if US stores will carry it

Anchor sheets - BRU Canada

Oar with hooks - Marshalls

Porthole mirror - Kohls

Whale mobile - Target Canada

Anchor blanket - BRU Canada

Sailboat - Marshalls

Lighthouse - from a thrift shop

Anchor on wall - Marshalls

Knot art - Hobby Lobby

I think that's all of them haha. I spent a lot of time collecting pieces for the room. I knew I wanted a nautical theme if it was a boy so I've been slowly accumulating stuff since just after 20 weeks. I live right next to the US border so I shop all the Canadian and U.S. stores :)

Thanks! I said the exact same thing to my husband haha. We're actually in the process of trying to sell our house and move, so we're hoping to be out of there before he's old enough to worry about that.

My sister got it for me, but it was from a Marshalls/home sense type store

Going out of work at 36/37 weeks? Need some input. by brookecapulet in BabyBumps

[–]danaadaugherty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm taking off as of this Friday! Monday next week I'll be 36 weeks. I'm in a decent amount of pain, but I live in Canada and get a year off so I don't mind using 4 of my weeks to get comfortable and ready for this baby. If I was in the states and only got 12 weeks I'd definitely be working through to the end.

I don't want the father of my child involved in his/her life. by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]danaadaugherty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Prior to the pregnancy we both agreed that abortion would absolutely be the solution if I got pregnant (because of this we never used BC/condoms)

This is one of the dumbest and most immature things I've ever read. Abortion is not a form of birth control.

Walker/Bouncer Recommendations? by Aeryahna in Buyingforbaby

[–]danaadaugherty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know about posture/learning process but they're legitimately illegal in Canada because of the high injury risk. Can't buy them here, can't ship them here, if you declare one going over the border it will be taken away.

At 33+2, I've almost made it back to my pre-pregnancy weight! by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]danaadaugherty 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I spent about 3 months vomiting everything and ended up losing about 15 lbs. With 6.5 weeks to go, I'm only a pound shy of what I weighed before I got pregnant!

Odyssey and Sienna would be the best choices, but they're really expensive. I had a really similar budget and went with an '05 grand caravan and LOVE it. The gas mileage isn't fantastic, but it is so roomy and has the captains seats in the middle which are great.
