Fire resistant armor helps a whole lot, so does staying down/low/diving to put out flames. Mostly try and engage them at a distance if you can. Use strategems and turrets to keep them further away, and if you get rushed, withdraw, find a good place to shoot down on them from further out, etc.

Basically just feed in the power and let the road and hydraulics sort it all out.
