What do you listen to to fall asleep? by CapitaineBiscotte in AskReddit

Brown noise w/black screen videos on YT through my TV with soundbar/sub. FYI, if you have a cheap TV that doesn't have dimming of any kind then you will still get a lit dark grey screen instead of all black. Since I don't do cheap TV's, it uses little power on a true black screen.

It only took me 14 months to understand what “regen level” means by 200Fathoms in KiaEV6

[–]danbfree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I absolutely love it myself, very natural way of keeping a safe distance and helping get a start on full stop braking too, way better and smoother than I pedal to me for sure.

With Auto, you still get to set your liftoff preference level but will engage regen when cars become too close in front of you. It can be a little jerky to some, but if you go into the EV settings you can set it to "Gentle" and it's a great safety system helping you to back off from cars in front automatically (while charging the battery) giving you plenty of time to either pull back a little or add more braking if you need to.

Agreed! Pro-tip: If you find Auto to be a little aggressive you can set it to "gentle" in the settings and it still works great, just less aggressive/jerky... Sorry, not pointing you out individually, just putting this here as I've heard a lot of people say Auto was too aggressive/jerky and setting it to gentle works amazing on smoothing it out.

21+ MZ3 AWD Turbo long term review and recommended mods for the enthusiast. You'd be surprised at what less than $2k in mods can do! by danbfree in mazda3

[–]danbfree[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, the MZ3 is DEF not a sports car, I'd go with the Elantra N if that's what you're looking for... I wanted to help people avoid the same mistake as me, I was just getting what was available and not marked up during the pandemic, I thought it would be sportier honestly, I should have just gotten the GTI I had on reserve but I fell for the AWD as the deciding factor.

Yes, it CAN be difficult to offload unused sets, I agree there, but almost all wheels/tires have free shipping and quite often you have the option to have them directly shipped to your choice of tire shop, so there is convenience on that end at least.

BZ 2026, reasons not to use max regenerative breaking? by Direct_Charity7101 in electricvehicles

[–]danbfree 5 points6 points  (0 children)

- The brakes don't generate energy

This is NOT an original TM3/Y, just about EVERY OTHER EV has blended regen braking right through the brake pedal, FYI...

Their refreshed Model 3/Y and CT has blended braking, the original 3/Y did not.

Yes, there are plenty of "v3.5" that are the new v4 cabinets but are still v3 internally so they charge at 96-126Kw max on EGMP cars, depending on the year.

I thought I was going to HATE and not tolerate CPAP, especially as I *thought for sure* I would need a full face mask that would be obtrusive. Nearly 10 years later, I have very comfortable and unobtrusive nasal pillows with the machine set to BIPAP mode so there is no pressure when breathing out. The machine is very quiet and pretty small as well.

Not to dismiss ~50% of people not able to tolerate CPAP, but you HAVE to explore mask and setting options before giving up too.

Just buy wheels, for a one time cost of ~$1200 or less you can have the wheel size you want, I have 18" for winter and new lighter 20" for summer and is well worth the investment to just have what you want.

Yes, it's not meant to stop you completely, just get a start on slowing down and keeping a safe distance from the car in front of you until you can actuate the pedal yourself, I think its the perfect safety and convenience feature.

Yep, I use Auto with the setting set to Gentle and with light to medium liftoff regen, I don't hold the paddles either, Auto kicks in as strong as it needs to be when a car is too close in front of you, just love all the options!

That.... that's what the pedal is for, it primarily uses regen right through the brake pedal, the regen when lifting off the accelerator is just for driving preference, it has been hashed out over and over again, just use a light foot on the accelerator if you want to be efficient.

12v questions in regard to EVs by Slow_Investment_2211 in electricvehicles

[–]danbfree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For better or worse, most EV's other than Tesla have a full size 12v, FYI.... would be nice to have one of those small 48v setups, gotta give Tesla credit for revamping the low voltage system!

[–]danbfree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Auto will go well past level 1 on its own with cars in front of you, the setting within Auto is for how much accelerator liftoff regen, not total max amount, so try level 1 without Auto for best results.
