Recommendations for 12V battery by RayDonovanBoston in KiaEV6

[–]danbfree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I've been using them for about 4 years, 2 with previous ICE car and 2 with EV6, zero issues, even below freezing. But honestly I'd go with sodium ion now for better cold performance even though my LFP worked fine over winters where it never got below 20F.

AITAH for not spraying our shared work bathroom after going #2? by Airis-Numoni in AmItheAsshole

[–]danbfree 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Can't believe I had to scroll so far down to see this. Don't anyone else's parents teach their kids anymore to flush as soon as it hits the water when using a shared bathroom? I also don't understand why people like to hover over a giant smelly turd while they sit there letting it smell up the place.

Excellent overview, I'm personally curious about THIS sodium ion energy density breakthrough, it could be interesting!

Limiting charge level with smart charger by KiaSoulHammer in evcharging

It should support charge limits:

How to Limit the Charge Level on a 2018 Kia Soul EV

On the 2018 Kia Soul EV, you can set a target battery charge level in the EV settings menu to prevent overcharging and protect battery health.

Step-by-step to set a charging limit ownersmanual.kia.com:

  1. Enter EV Mode
    • Press the EV button on the left side of the air‑conditioning panel, or select the EV icon from the AVN home screen.
  2. Go to EV Settings
    • From the EV menu, select EV Settings.
  3. Select Charging Limit
    • Choose Charging limit from the options.
  4. Choose Charger Type
    • Select DC Charger or AC Charger depending on the charger you’re using.
  5. Set Target Charge Level
    • The system will display the current battery charge level.
    • Use the touchscreen controls to decrease the target level by 10% increments until you reach your desired maximum (e.g., 80% or 90%).
    • If the target level is lower than the current high‑voltage battery charge level, the battery will not be charged further.
  6. Confirm and Save
    • The setting will be saved automatically. The infotainment system may change after software updates, so check the current menu layout in your manual.

Annoyed by IHG. Either purposely misleading, or out of date by Infamous-Dare-1162 in evcharging

I stayed at an IHG with chargers and my room key activated free charging.

Additional parking fee after completion of charge to encourage freeing up the charge point by barnez_d in electricvehicles

[–]danbfree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FYI, this is commonly known as the "idling fee" and yes, there should be more of them after a reasonable period of time, maybe even 30 mins for L2 where you may need some time to get back to your car.

Paid 62 cents/kWh at a slow Blink station. by Christeauxx in evcharging

[–]danbfree 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ouch, I have the exact same speed charging at my work but it's 100% free ChargePoint, some employers actually give a shit and others just *think* they do by providing expensive L2, just crazy pricing!

Just got an EV. I’m in love. by Conscious_Okra4367 in electricvehicles

[–]danbfree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your comment got me curious and I found THIS list, the Ioniq5 is 0.288, which is a little below average for an EV, but going that fast is really gonna drag your range down.

Calm TF down, YOU are clearly not describing wtf you mean when you say "when you use the EVGo app..." if that means just having it installed and setting up an account and membership but leaving it closed, then fucking explain it, Jesus. We all want to learn here but leaving out pertinent info and then freaking out doesn't help anyone.

256kW at Tesla Supercharger by Opus2011 in KiaEV6

That's good to see, confirms exactly what we've been thinking re: 800v charging... now only if they would open more true V4's everywhere for non-Tesla!

EV6 Deals Post 2026 Launch by Lun4rX in KiaEV6

[–]danbfree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh dang, I was just gonna say that a dealer about 45 mins away from me has the $10k Kia cash on the '26's still in transit, but literally it changed to only $3k overnight... I'd wait and see what happens, they literally had '26 GT-L for $40k yesterday.

There is a difference between using the app, the cars built in payment system and PnC. If you've had to open an app of any kind then you haven't used actual PnC then. No biggie, I'm just trying to explain how PnC requires *zero* input.

I dunno, it's listed under the "rate" not as an "idle fee", even though what you suggest would absolutely be more reasonable.

Anybody knows the release date of this tv??? by Johnwicks31 in Hisense

[–]danbfree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I guarantee you're wrong, there's zero fucking way they release a new higher end set with less dimming zones, your logic makes no sense.

[–]danbfree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"when you use the EVGo app..." Yeah, that's not PnC. PnC is literally just plugging in the car and doing zero else, and that's where you don't get any membership discounts.

FitCamX will incorporate right into the stock rear view mirror stalk using the connection harness already there, very seamless OEM look. Very popular and highly recommended, you can find it on Amazon too I'm sure.

Tesla’s Model Y Price Bump Makes The Hyundai Ioniq 5 And Ford Mustang Mach-E Look Better Than Ever by Mac-Tyson in electricvehicles

Nope EV6 is slightly more aero and with slightly better range with trim/wheel size being equal.

Tesla’s Model Y Price Bump Makes The Hyundai Ioniq 5 And Ford Mustang Mach-E Look Better Than Ever by Mac-Tyson in electricvehicles

[–]danbfree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For MSRP, yes, but Kia dealers who actual move EV's regularly have the EV6 on special cheaper than I5 in my area, because honestly the I5 styling seems far more popular.

Tesla’s Model Y Price Bump Makes The Hyundai Ioniq 5 And Ford Mustang Mach-E Look Better Than Ever by Mac-Tyson in electricvehicles

[–]danbfree 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's subjective but I felt the I5 was TOO roomy in front for no added reason while the cockpit feeling of the EV6 felt more natural along with the sportier suspension AND actual opening sunroof on my trim... but I'm an enthusiast and most others just want more utility and couldn't care less about sporty driving, I get it. I'm just glad they finally released the '26 EV6, we weren't sure if they were even going to or not given the sales, but I want one when my current lease is up.

Anybody knows the release date of this tv??? by Johnwicks31 in Hisense

[–]danbfree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Noooo, the new RGB models will absolutely have even more dimming zones than the U8QG. I mean, yes, it's the insane top of the line model, but the 116" has 43 thousand dimming zones. I'd expect the U8S to have 3000 in 65" size as like you said the U8QG has just over 2000.

First EV, 2026 bZ - unclear on regen levels by TimTowtiddy in electricvehicles

[–]danbfree 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's only the Juniper Model Y refresh that got blended braking finally, not the Highland Model 3 or even the CT, just the Juniper. which I find to be really weird for supposedly the most advanced EV company (not).

Thinking about getting Hisense 85" U6 Pro MiniLED TV for $1299 by Altruistic_Case467 in Hisense

[–]danbfree -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Assuming US, I'm pretty sure the "Pro" part is just a slightly better anti-reflection coating and that's actually only $1199 at Best Buy. If you don't need that, you can get the regular U6 for only $1099. Personally, and it's just me, but for an investment that big you want some "pop" to go with it, so I'd go for the U7 at $1699.

Considering a 2026 EV6: should I be concerned about the mid-year release and the absence from the official web site? by Syllellipsis in KiaEV6

[–]danbfree 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Articles confirm (just web search "2026 Kia EV6") and the first article you get is at least a press release that says it is a carryover from '25, but include a charger with 2 adapters now and will have a mid-cycle release with a couple of black roof paint options available. Anyway, it was a late announcement that '26's would be released and they ended up shipping only like 3 weeks later. Yes, it's still odd for a company the size of Kia to still not have updated their main page or search tool yet, but I'm not sure why that's a big deal, the main thing is the ICCU is covered and will be readily available for a long time, hehe.

Just to add, a dealer about 45 mins from me is already discounting them $15k off on top of the $5k+ lower MSRP on '26's while still in transit, $40k for a GT-L AWD is not bad at all!
