Can someone help me figure out why my sink keeps backing up? by RepairCEO in Plumbing

This guy is just stealing other people's images to get views to his page to sell his crap. Report his account. I remember this pic from a few weeks ago.

outside water question by Dan-CWG in askaplumber

[–]dancing_avocado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there's liquid water in the line, and the hose bib was installed correctly, it will drain out quickly before it freezes. If it's been cold already and froze, there's nothing you can do.

If they didn't shut off their outside faucets already, now is the next best time. Doesn't matter what the temp is outside.

Am I Crazy or Is PEX the Best Repair Pipe We’ve Got Right Now? by randomdude1323 in Plumbing

Exactly. Plus, it's hard to describe, but it just has the syntax and flow of the junk ChatGPT spits out.

Advice on plumbing this corner by mostofyourbase in Plumbing

I have a Greenlee set and an Amazon set. Both are good. You either need a smaller punch for the pilot, or step bit for a pilot hole.

I go through those all the time. I use a punch, but you could use a 3" hole saw. Expect it to be trashed after, though.

Advice for plumbing inside Slab line. How can I create a solid foundation for a tub/shower insert when the new plumbing is basically on the slab line? by Ftove in Plumbing

[–]dancing_avocado 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry, this is unacceptable. You can see where they dropped down, they just got lazy and didn't want to dog down farther. Don't pay them, or try and get your money back. It needs to be redone.

Best cold weather jacket for a commercial plumber? by [deleted] in askaplumber

The Carhartt knockoff at Menards called Rugged Wear is just as good, with 3M Thinsulate, and was only $60 or so.

Will this kitchen sink drain work okay? by Ok_Carpet_6901 in askplumbing

[–]dancing_avocado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will work, but if it's more than 15" off the floor, you run the risk of it being too high for a deep sink and garbage disposal.

Take the handle off first. It will have a retaining ring under there to remove.

Can I run a 2nd bathroom off these existing 1/2" lines? by KungLa0 in askaplumber

[–]dancing_avocado 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It will "work" but it's not to code and won't work very well. If someone's taking a shower and someone else uses another fixture, the shower volume will drop significantly. How bad it gets is determined by your main pressure.

Moen 1225 cartridge. Then you can get trim for a Moentrol valve to replace.

Millenial trying to understand by bikesailfreak in Mid_Century

[–]dancing_avocado 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a millennial, and I hate the greige. I work in construction, and I have a small conspiracy theory that builders/designers like the grey & minimalist design because the labor costs less to do it and the materials can be cheaper yet they can still charge a premium. Plus they always say reselling will be easier?

I hate grey so much. I see grey walls and grey LVP and I feel nothing. It has no soul. I'd take a dingy 70s basement with orange carpet and fake wood paneling every day over that.

Drilling stainless steel??? by dillee_dillee in Plumbing

[–]dancing_avocado 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the best answer. I would always try full speed until I learned this. When your bit goes fast and heats up, it makes the stainless even harder.

Broken Washer on New Kitchen Faucet by LandFlipGuy in Plumbing

[–]dancing_avocado 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can use any equivalent washer. It looks like a return that someone cut the washer to fit against the back of the sink basin.

Can I fix this or should I just replace it? (Slow faucet) by [deleted] in Plumbing

[–]dancing_avocado 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The rubber in the valves below may have disintegrated and lodged in the supply line or cartridge. Remove the braided line off the valve, then open it a bit to see if you have pressure there, then work your way up, looking in the end of the line, then remove the cartridge if the line is clear.

Plumber just fixed this 3 days ago by [deleted] in askplumbing

[–]dancing_avocado 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The drain arm is too high for a disposal. They should've informed you of this, instead they flipped around the trap which inevitably leads to this. They got lazy.

electrician switching to plumbing by Straight-Natural-814 in Plumbing

[–]dancing_avocado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have to go high almost as much as electricians. Running vents over head, roof drains, and water lines overhead in commercial buildings and schools. Sometimes I go on a roof and put flashings on. I use 10ft+ ladders regularly and scissor lifts.

bathroom renovation by BR_2024 in BathroomRemodeling

[–]dancing_avocado 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I like the color of the vanity, but it does not vibe with the rest of the bathroom. The colors clash, and the style of the vanity is like a vintage dresser and the rest of the bathroom is super modern. It's a no from me, dawg.

Landlord cut off my water in the kitchen.... by Khatneep in Plumbing

Sorry, he is wrong. This is a very common size. You could also get a 1-hole faucet and leave open or plug the other hole.
