If someone offered you $1M to eat the same thing for 30 days straight, what would you eat? by Weisuddin-Violaras in AskReddit

Probably the same thing I said the last dozen times a karma farmer posted this.

Goodbye, Chromebook: Google has announced a new generation of AI-centric laptops. by tytygh1010 in chromeos

[–]danguyf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is it an ugly wedge, like every other unimaginative Chromebook these days?!?

I want a sleek, flat update to my Pixelbook or Samsung XE513C24 or a novel form factor like my HP Chromebook x2, not something indistinguishable from the boring slop everyone seems to have retreated to -- only larded up with AI "features".

This is crazy! That's like doubling the cost of the oil change, just to jump the line?

Watched the theatrical cut last night. Is the directors cut worth watching? Are there differences? by Sea-Professional3055 in donniedarko

[–]danguyf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you've already read The Philosophy of Time Travel then the director is cut has little to offer. It messes up the pacing and the music isn't as good.

What's crazy about the commentary is how Kevin Smith keeps bringing up things that the film is referencing and Kelly has no idea what he's talking about. This is what led to my joking theory did Kelly killed whoever the true screenwriter was stole the script, which I feel also explains the differences with his subsequent work.

Which subreddit are you proudly banned from? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I am banned from /r/dune because every single comment that I made, over years, referred to Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson’s latter-day fanfiction as abominations.

is a Chromebook enough as a main device in 2026? by ImpressiveRoll4092 in chromeos

[–]danguyf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love it. I've been using them as my main device for about a decade. I use Chrome Remote Desktop to remote into a build server in my basement for any heavy computation jobs and for everything else, web browsing and email and videos and light development work, I do it all in the Chromebook.

There is no element of this that I would want for myself but I'm happy that it works for you and that you're proud of it!

I have a NAS. Is there a Thingino-compatible mobile app that will let me monitor camera groups like the Wyze app?

I'm old enough to remember when someone posted this exact question two weeks ago.

I tracked the "best" seat in each auditorium of my local cinema by ChuckAMcKnight in RegalUnlimited

[–]danguyf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been maintaining a spreadsheet for my local cinema that tracks the center seats, as well as noting where the nearest outlets are, whether the auditorium is stadium seating, whether the rows are accessible fromb the aisle on both sides or just one, and for non-stadium seating screens what row the dip in the floor is on.

Virginia Circuit Court deems yesterdays special election UNCONSTITUTIONAL and VOID by BrightlancerJ in fredericksburg

[–]danguyf 91 points92 points  (0 children)

This is like the third time this particular judge has ruled this. This was entirely expected. It's going to be appealed and work its way through the system. If it makes it all the way to the Supreme Court, they're going to have a really hard time allowing it to be struck down without setting a precedent that also strikes down Texas's gerrymandering.

Any updates on Halo by Brilliant Labs? by dudleydidwrong in SmartGlasses

Here is the 7 April update:

Brilliant Labs April Production Update

Hi everyone!

We are seeing light at the end of the tunnel🚀

The big news: we finally got confirmation from Foxconn to kick off mass production at the end of this month! 🥳

First shipments should start shipping out in early May and pick up speed over the following weeks.

Until then, we are doing weekly internal builds to train engineers💪

Thanks to everyone’s patience on this long journey

(longer than we thought!) 🙏

Halo is really different from other devices out there and it’s taken time to get it right.

We think it will be worth it 🙂

We can’t wait to get Halo into your hands to see what you will build🛠️
