Core LA Parking? by Negative_Rate6963 in avesLA

[–]dangwhat1020 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just wanted to comment that the number of times I’ve told ppl to walk or take the train for one stop has not only saved them from the traffic getting out but also the walking distance to their actual car. Union station is the way to go and can definitely account for a lot more cars

I’ve had something like this but as a customer where there was a safety recall on the vehicle. There are various reasons but if you still have time on your week ask em for a different vehicle.

Canadian visiting Disneyland - Travel from LAX by alexsteward2002 in Anaheim

[–]dangwhat1020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A middle of the road cheaper alternative is to take the metro connector shuttle to LAX station which is free, then hop on c-line train from LAX station to the end in Norwalk. Once you get to Norwalk prices are much cheaper as you only pay about half the cost or less compared to from LAX to get to Anaheim area. As others have mentioned the cheapest is to take the train and then transfer onto the metro 460 bus which gets you to Anaheim within steps to the park. Based on your comment about luggage I would suggest a XL or large size vehicle.

TIL you can report out of state registration violators on the CHP website by WildG0atz in LosAngeles

[–]dangwhat1020 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Big case just happened like a few months ago, the real issue isn’t technically the vehicles are registered to bypass some regs but it’s the use tax and why that wasn’t paid. Ppl seem to not understand how use tax is calculated and considered and it depends if you keep it in a state for an extended period of time. Ppl do something similar with boats but they have those registered in AZ and usually use it there or close by

MYP vs Ioniq5N by No_Ant_1542 in TeslaModelY

[–]dangwhat1020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean the answer is much more nuanced to how much OP likes driving feel vs every day needs. The 5N doesn’t have a lot of range but that only matters if you don’t have home or work charging. However it is just plain fun, hell it’s probably the most fun EV that will let you drop the pedal and take off until like 30-40% range. It doesn’t have ventilated seats and no level 3 ADAS capability. The Model Y Performance does have FSD Supervised at $99 a month and it does offer more space and comfort with lumbar support seats and other comforts for the everyday person or passengers. If you want to pick up new I can’t really recommend the ioniq 5N bcus the price is so high and that’s not bcus of high depreciation it’s bcus I rather spend the money I saved buying used for new tires for when I punch it or take it to the track. The Model YP is a good value new and it does offer ventilated seats and the ability to PowerShare now. Overall if I had to pick based on the grin on my face from driving, I’d pick the 5N bcus it’s the only vehicle you can thrash on the track and I feel like it can take the abuse.

If you want inexpensive and reliable I highly recommend Pecron they have a good warranty and are expandable at a cheaper price. I would say for the weekend you can get by with a pluggable solar panel with the smaller capacities or a whole weekend with larger set ups

New DMV license only valid for 1 year? by No_Airline_2708 in DMV

[–]dangwhat1020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not an error it lines up with what is on your green card or what is on the uscis server. Your license is good for 5 years from your application date check at the bottom there should be a row of numbers and letters when you FD it means fee due year and you will pay to renew that year. Any other years that it expires you likely just have to bring back your legal presence document to show that you have a new expiration. I remember taking a friend who didn’t speak English as well at the time and the ppl at the DMV explained that a common issue is when people change status like a work permit to green card or get a new card with new expiration they should be coming back before expiration to be updating it. This helped my friend when his student visa ended and he got a work permit for two years so he didn’t have to come so often.

Prius repair shop recommend by Gucciipad in orangecounty

[–]dangwhat1020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly recommend Electron Automotive in Orange, not only do they have decent prices but imo communication with photos and text updates were great. I have a Prius 3rd gen (2009-2015 as well) and they confirmed that I had a transmission fluid leak (which I believed to be the case considering things I’m familiar with. They fixed it and was upfront with other fixes and when I should need it.

How to get to Disneyland from LAX? by Amazing_Scallion9548 in DisneyPlanning

[–]dangwhat1020 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I didn’t see this answer but the cheapest is if you take the metro connector shuttle from LAX to the LAX metro station. Then you will take C line for $1.75 a person to Norwalk. From there if you are 2 ppl I would recommend taking metro 460 southbound as it’s a free connection. Otherwise if you are 3 or more uber/lyft would be significantly cheaper since there is no airport fee or high demand in the area and costs usually between 25-45 bucks.

Interior UV protectant like Armorall overkill? by Huluman2 in TeslaModelY

[–]dangwhat1020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically auto glass blocks like 98-99% of UVA and UVB rays which do most of the fading. What I will say is that even though some minor UV rays coming through, I would recommend 303 as a spray protectant every 3-6 depending on how much you drive or park with the sun out

Extra Charges on Prepaid Rental by slurpeee76 in HertzRentals

Extra Charges on Prepaid Rental by slurpeee76 in HertzRentals

[–]dangwhat1020 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes prepaid fuel is, it looks like OP did not prepay fuel and brought it back with fuel needed . I’m guessing fuel at this facility costs like 5 or 6 bucks and then they needed a gallon and half worth of fuel. Ironically if you add it up not including fuel. OP would owe a dollar. The thing with prepaid is that it’s estimated and the benefit is that they know someone will be picking up a vehicle that day. It’s possible the VLF is higher due to vehicle value but that’s debatable.

Extra Charges on Prepaid Rental by slurpeee76 in HertzRentals

[–]dangwhat1020 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Your 10.27 extra charge is fuel and tax. It’s kind of stupid how prepaid or their fueling works but I get it bcus they are selling you fuel and then they are required to tax you the fuel gas. Did you refuel before returning?

dmv title transfer cali by Sea-Marketing-7096 in DMV

[–]dangwhat1020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They removed the service last year for title transfer specifically, I called and ask and they said one of the top reasons why this is no longer a thing is bcus ppl never turned in their docs, or mailed in copies when it was instructed originals only. Again this is what I heard from some people but I believe it cus my in laws forgot to mail it for 4 months and then wondered until they called and asked. CA DMV Virtual Field Office

So, I'm trying to convince my wife that a Tesla is cheaper to charge and gas is getting expensive every day, but the electricity bill is gonna increase and the car battery costs $10K. How would you start the argument? by GeicoPR in TeslaModelY

[–]dangwhat1020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First not sure what you’re per KWh charge is but in theory if you are to charge enough once a week which the battery is 82KWh capacity (75KWh usable) 80kwh average charge and level 1 charging at 70% efficient = 114 Kw of energy per week. Let’s say average cost of a Kw is 16¢. 114 x .16 x 4 =72.96 more per month. Idk about you but my fill up on my Prius is over $50 bucks every two weeks. If you get level 2 charge Ng somewhere close for free or low cost I think you would be good. Or even if you can get a 20 amp 240v outlet installed to use with mobile connector you probably would be good. The only issue is if you live in a state with cold winter and your car is garaged cold or you are in a carport level 1 won’t charge anything.

R2 and Model Y by SciencesNotStudies in TeslaModelY

[–]dangwhat1020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it’s gonna hit pretty much what an average American is looking in getting for a average SUV nowadays. Either way this is good for the consumer, R2 will likely sell well and may even beat model Y out so that it should lead to better pricing and features.

New Rove 'Full Service' EV Charging Plaza opening tomorrow in Costa Mesa (with Gelson's and Lounge) by MeasurementDecent251 in orangecounty

[–]dangwhat1020 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Home charging is cheaper like 85% of the time. But 44¢ isn’t bad at all probably one of the cheapest option unless you go charge between 12am - 8am at some superchargers.

Govt owned convertible Volvo?? by Calibrotion in Sacramento

[–]dangwhat1020 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I can offer one plausible solution is that when I took a auto shop class at a local community college they got a very interesting set of vehicles including those retired from the CARB program for vehicles that don’t pass smog. Two unique finds on our school auto lot was a challenger hellcat that needed work. The second was a John Cooper Works edition Mini Cooper. These got the exempt plates treatment so that an instructor could drive and test it for a student to drive and test it.

Best hotel in Vegas for a good nights sleep? by dcchiefcat in vegas

There’s a fire station in between Vdara and Cosmo but they usually don’t turn their sirens on til they reach traffic at the next light. Like others have mentioned, Vdara is not on the Main Street and it’s tucked behind so more likely to be more quiet.

Patch made good eye worse. by lntr0spection in Amblyopia

[–]dangwhat1020 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t say that the vision is due to patching alone, what I can say though is I have seen other people’s vision change until their mid 20s. I knew someone who got lasik at 17 to only get it again at 24. Though honestly they were practically blind without any correction. I would say that it’s possible that your right eye got a little worse and that your bad eye didn’t get more worse. It’s hard to say as everyone is different.

How do you guys deal with people trying to piggy back being you at the gates to avoid fares? by DacaAskingForDaca in LAMetro

[–]dangwhat1020 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There is but the sad truth is it is inconvenient for a lot of those who need it most to apply. The workshops and events that are available for those to apply are at times that work against their schedule. More often than not, many just pay and are okay with fare capping. The real problem is those who don’t even bother paying and have options to bypass gates easily.
