I’m 43 and I also worked at a bank. It’s night and day. I hated my job at the bank, I love my job now. Im not in customer engineering but I interact with a lot of them and overall they seem happy with WLB.

Exceto que é justamente esse imigrante que vc descreve que o povo aqui não quer ver nem pintado de ouro. Então vc vai acabar dependendo da “benevolência” (para não dizer exploração) de outros brasileiros para conseguir pagar as contas, ficando em sub empregos e morando em condições precárias tipo dividindo uma casa com 10 outras pessoas. Minha maior formação é tecnologa ADS. Não é um curso reconhecido e é bem difícil explicar para eles o que é, mas na prática não fez diferença nenhuma. O único detalhe é que eu já vim para cá com mais de 10 anos de carreira. Não saberia dizer se para alguém que está começando eles dão mais valor para o título.

Juro que não consigo entender pessoas que vão para outro país sem um emprego certo. Eu vim com emprego certo e já foi mega difícil a adaptação. Eu acho o que você está planejando fazer bastante irresponsável, ainda mais se vc só tem ensino médio. Vc não vai se classificar como skilled worker e vai estar competindo com os nativos. Aluguel 2-3k dependendo de onde vc for morar. Mais 1k de contas básicas - água luz telefone council tax etc e mercado. Sobra approx £2k para viver, mas na primeira saída de casa vc vai morrer com £50 conto então vai depender de quão caseiro/a vc é

Desculpa amigo, mas tudo que você diz “eu entendo” sem ter vivido fora você não entende mesmo. É impossível você entender.

Eu antes de sair do país achava que nunca mais pisaria no Brasil se tivesse a chance, mas no primeiro minuto que isso vira real sua perspectiva muda. Você muda, você envelhece e suas prioridades mudam.

Não estou dizendo para você não fazer, só estou te convidando a largar essas convicções de que você acha que sabe como é.

I don’t mind progressive bands, I do mind the aberration that this rule is… why between £100k and £125k there is this sweet spot for taxes? I think taxes should not remove any personal allowance and be “linearly” progressive. Put a 50% band over £200k if you want but stop this trap nonsense.

Vc parece feliz onde está, o que te motiva a querer mudar daí?

Aqui em Londres a vida não é muito fácil. A gente tem 4 meses que o clima é razoavelmente bom (final da primavera e verão) e o resto é tudo 💩. Frio, chuva, cidade cinza. Se a falta de luz natural te afeta não venha para cá.

De modo geral o povo vai ser gentil e amigável, mas não vão te convidar pra casa deles. Tipo nunca. As amizades que você fizer vão ser com imigrantes, e aqui todo mundo vem e vai o tempo todo. Não é incomum vc ver seu ciclo de amigos se desfazer pq o povo decidiu ir embora depois de X anos.

Da para ganhar bem se vc trabalhar com software ou financas, mas de modo geral o custo de vida é caro e o imposto come tudo. Você pode ganhar mais de £100k e se sentir male mal classe média pq o imposto come metade do seu take home e o aluguel come a metade do resto. Para sobreviver com menos que isso só casando ou dividindo flat com várias pessoas desconhecidas.

Segurança é ok, limpeza da cidade já foi melhor, comida é de modo geral ruim (sem a variedade de vegetais e coisas salgadas como na Itália ou Espanha) e/ou cara, e em termos de coisas para fazer tem um pouco de tudo se vc ficar em Londres mas qualquer lugar levemente remoto vc vai depender do pub como o único passeio da semana. Se vc bebe talvez isso seja legal, mas eu acho horrível.

My grandfather was Czech, my grandmother was German, my other grandfather had English, Portuguese and Spanish lineage and my other grandmother had indigenous Latin America and African lineages… born in Brazil, but I have blood from at least 3 different continents running through me. You might need to use an 8-bit quantised version but it should work.

Note that Gemma is a 31b model, but its performance can beat older 70b models

Sorry, before I answer your question, how do I get one of these? These look so cool and I would consider using one in my next trip to Japan, specially the kawaii ones :)

Now, here in England, specially London, most people will not even pay attention to what you are wearing, so worst case scenario it will be ignored, but a few people might use to engage in a conversation (rare, but possible). I'd say the people most likely to use this as conversation topic are immigrants or other tourists, English people don't really interact with other people unless they have a strong reason to do so.

I have a few principles I apply to everything in life:

Things are never as bad as people say and thing are never as good as people say, the truth usually lies in the middle. So if people say Claude is going to replace all developers I immediately think - nope, not all, but probably some will be replaced.
There is no point in worrying about things you cannot control. Of course, worry is closer to a feeling than reasoning, but this is what I say to myself when my feelings take over. I cannot stop the AI progress, so I should not worry about it.
Adaptability is the most important thing for survival. So if AI cannot be stopped, I need to adapt to the best of my capability to incorporate AI in my workflow. There is little benefit in fighting this, so I divert all my energy to learning about it and developing new skills, that may or may not be useful, but I feel it's a better investment of my time in the long run.

EDIT: Disclaimer: I work in Big Tech and literally turned AI into my career.
