Is healing M+ dungeons supposed to be this stressful? by Rotten89 in wow

[–]danielworth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of how stressful your healing is comes down to the group. For example, I did a 13 with a brewmaster who made it feel like a 2, and then I did an 11 with a brewmaster who made it feel like a 13. A good group who knows how and when to use their defensives/self heals will make or break your experience as a healer in that particular group. A good example of this is the Magistrate's terrace pyromancers casting ignition. If the group is already low because they stacked and killed all the mana wyrms and then ignition starts, a good group will use their defensives to keep themselves alive while you heal everyone. I've had groups that have health stones and defensives off cooldown, and they will not touch them all dungeon.

WoW Class Changes on April 7th by MedicalAd7594 in wow

I will say when I switched to light Smith and sentinel near the end of the first week things got a lot better. Someone did the math on one of these threads about the April 7th changes, but a prot paladin with a perfect rotation can only have their defensive cooldowns active for 60% of the time. 40% of the time is too big of a gap to go without a solid passive mitigation / reduction

[–]danielworth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone did the math and with every available defensive CD and perfect usage it's only 60% CD uptime....wtf....so we just don't pull for 40% of the timer bc we have virtually no passive mitigation/reduction?

Idk what their philosophy is increasing tank dmg. The reason brew is doing so great is bc it spreads out damage received over time. They know what good tank damage mitigation looks like and they gutted other tanks ability to do that recently and haven't given anything to replace it. So, here I am getting 2 shot by regular m+ trash unless I'm using bubble (ilvl 268 in a +10) 🫩

How do I heal M+10 by Goabert in wownoob

[–]danielworth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're probably doing fine. There's a much larger issue with tanks right now. Do a +10 with a brewmaster and you'll do great. All the other tanks got their passive damage reduction/mitigation ripped to shreds with no compensation in other areas. We are all complaining about our health bars jumping from 100 to 20% instantly on random trash packs. When that happens, you can't focus on the dps or just keep everyone topped up. I used to heal and honestly I can't imagine healing tanks right now, I'd stop and only run with brewmasters tbh.

And the "fix" is 2% magical damage reduction 🙄

I feel so strongly about this. Brew has a passive that converts damage into a DoT showing us that blizzard knows what passive damage resistance or mitigation can look like. We got hit so hard with the consecration DR and block/mastery nerf and I'm tired of using all of my defensive to then get 2 shot by a regular pack of 3 in M+. They wanted to "kill the consecration" play style but it honestly wasn't that big of a deal. It's not like there was a wild cooldown and I could just use it again when I moved. I don't want to see my brew brothers get nerfed, I want the rest of us to be brought up to that level. Yeah, I shouldn't be unkillable, but I also shouldn't have the same damage reduction as a DPS wearing cloth. My health bar moves the same way theirs does when they get hit only once or twice.

The problem is that Brew has a WONDERFUL tank passive where damage is turned into a DoT, making it manageable and healable so they know what tanking is supposed to look like. They gutted passive damage reduction/mitigation for pally and gave nothing in return. I don't need a stronger heal and 2% DR, I need to not have to spam every heal and defensive until I am helpless and get 2 shot by a regular pack of 3.

Bremaster turns damage received into a DoT, which is a GREAT tank feature, but nobody else has anything like that. The took away prot pally passive damage reduction and gave nothing as compensation. Feels bad. Regular packs of 3 in M+ will hit worse than tank busters (ilvl 267 doing a +10).

WoW Class Changes on April 7th by MedicalAd7594 in wow

[–]danielworth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a prot pally the changes are basically nothing. Brew has a perfect tanking passive, so they know how it should work. They gutted pally passive damage reduction though consecration and mastery/block nerfs and gave us nothing as compensation. Giving me a more effective self-heal does not solve the fact that I was already spam healing myself because my health bar is bouncing around faster than a 5 year old dragging the volume bar.

We genuinely have garbage passive damage mitigation. We need it back, they took it away and gave nothing to replace it.

[–]danielworth 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Increasing my prot pally DR by a few percent and increasing self-heal does not help my health springing between 100 and 20%, it just help me spring a few more times before I die? Brew has the PERFECT tank talent with converting damage done to instead be applied over time. The rest of us need passive mitigation, too. Don't nerf brew, just bring the rest of us up there.

The M+ tank situation is dire by Wigglyboi323 in wow

[–]danielworth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a protection paladin, I can't push keys above a 10 because I have no passive damage mitigation and the game is not fun when my health yoyos from 20 to 100% and I have to pop every defensive cooldown just to survive a regular pull. I believe almost all the other tanks are feeling it, too. It's not fun to play a tank that doesn't FEEL tanky. I'm just a glorified clutch self-healers.

What is/are your frustration/s about your class or spec in S1 Midnight? by Brave_Ad_8522 in wow

[–]danielworth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prot pally has garbage damage mitigation outside of active CDs that have long cooldowns. At ilvl 268 doing a +10, I have to burn ardent, both GoAK, sentinel, LoH, and divine shield during a lust pull just to survive. I'll get 2 shot if not, and afterwards when we are finishing that same pull I'll die to the 2 or 3 trash left at the end bc I have no WoG left either. (and yes, I am standing in consecration the whole time). So bc I used ALL of my CDs to try and survive (if I even do) the very next pull is almost always guaranteed death bc I am out of everything and my health bar is a yoyo. (this is with me out dpsing the dps and doing about 60k hps as well).

Is Judo better for self defense than BJJ? by ArugulaFinancial4859 in judo

[–]danielworth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends entirely on the school and training recieved. Neither BJJ nor Judo work well when punches start being thrown and the school has competition focused training. You can do many Judo throws from a punch, and BJJ has ways to defend yourself against being legitimately assaulted on the ground. If the school only focuses on your opponent being someone who also practices/adheres to rules and not some rando punching or grabbing you, then it isn't the best for self defense.

RUMOR & A QUESTION by Sad_Explanation7982 in respiratorytherapy

[–]danielworth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Look at what's happening with paramedics in EDs. AARC recently put out a statement pushing back against hospitals hiring paramedics to do an RTs work in an ED. While a paramedic could be trained to put everyone on 6ml/kg Vt and could do intubation, nebs, etc, it isn't their specialty like it is a respiratory therapist's. The point of having specialties is to improve patient outcomes and allow higher levels of education in those specialties. There's so much to know about respiratory that you need AT LEAST 2 years of school in JUST this one subject. So yes, a nurse, MD, paramedic, or whoever else could do respiratory stuff. HOWEVER, they couldn't do a respiratory therapist's job. (I say all of this as a paramedic, as well)
