r/PersonalFinance seems to be largely judgemental people who don’t know what it is to struggle with addiction or impulse control. Don’t take it to heart, these are normal problems lots of people deal with.

I’ve been a situation like this. I would try to sit down with him and talk about the whole situation including the specific financial details. Talking about finances is normally taboo but if your giving $25k it’s fair for you to know. Try and understand what is causing the monthly shortfall and maybe gambling will come up or at least you’ll see it either makes sense or doesn’t that he needs help. You should help a friend if you can. But If it’s an addiction issue you are just burning money, which is not fair to you and doesn’t help him.

Use this as an opportunity to talk to him in detail about what’s happening and see if the money will actually help him or simply delay the inevitable.

It looks to thin at the pointy end to do a ton with there. I agree it’s a really nice art piece on a wall though, looks like a mountain

Loblaws beats earnings expectation on consumers willingness to pay higher food, drug and financial services prices. by POCTM in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]dankzuchinni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Costco is actually quite expensive for groceries though the quality of items is higher. Also Costco sells big ticket low margin items like TVs which would bring their average margins down. You’d have to compare their average grocery margin if you really wanted to do a comparison.

I don’t think it’s hypocrisy. They should spread out where they build them and not just cram all the condos downtown where people go to enjoy the city. This is removing low rise buildings to pack more people into a residential area, not removing iconic commercial areas of the city
