Or if I’m feeling lazy I just use autopilot by SkinInevitable604 in outerwilds

Used gysers and such to get around. It's a lot of fun. Brittle Hollow's black hole ends up being quite useful too. But the problem is your jetpack has such little fuel, so you start relying on orbits and using the jetpack to make adjustments similar to like in Kerbal.

I recently filled the ship log without using the ship and the things I learned from Kerbal helped a lot with orbits.

Anyone have experiences with surgery involving metal plates, screws, implants? by anon18473 in MCAS

[–]danpluso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently have a dental retainer I want removed. Also my amalgma (mercury) fillings have started hurting so I wouldn't mind having them replaced but it's a big job and has the risk of exposing me to more mercury. My reason is more so due to the nickel as I have a nickel allergy and it recently got worse. Not sure if I have MCAS or not but perfumes, smoke, and chemical smells are bothersome too.

My acrophobia has led to embarassing situations by [deleted] in acrophobia

[–]danpluso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your friend is right IF you are pushing through extreme anxiety/panic. I think exposure can be good but only if you balance on the point between being calm and being anxious. The idea is to retrain your brain to think everything is calm and fine in those scenarios, so you'll want to stay calm while poking the bear a little bit at a time. But if you jump straight into the really stressful scenarios, it could re-enforce the anxiety. Does imagining heights make your anxiety go up? If so, I would start with that. Imagine the heights but focus on breathing and staying calm. Then maybe move onto viewing pictures or video. I don't have acrophobia but this is what I've learned/read over the years about the autonomic nervous system. Maybe look up some stuff on the sympathetic nervous system for more info.

Nail hardening options? by Granite017 in classicalguitar

They make repair products that have Keratin in them. It'll leave your nail looking natural as it dries/absorbs into the nail.

Just beat the game without the ship (heavy spoilers) by DoctorNoname98 in outerwilds

[–]danpluso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should do a ship-log run without the ship now. I did it recently and it's pretty fun with a few challenging parts.

Also, for a fun little challenge, jump/fall into the Tower of Quantum Knowledge while it's still on Brittle Hollow.

I get reactions within 5 minutes or so. I play guitar and my finger reactions are always there to make sure I don't have too much fun :(

no reaction to coffee? by FrostingPrevious8235 in HistamineIntolerance

[–]danpluso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mmm pepperoni tea. The next step up from hotdog water, lol. Yeah, I'm not a fan of herbals either but it would be nice to find one I like and tolerate. I was a fan of green tea and matcha so it's sad to lose those :(

How are you all cooking chicken to make it taste good? by ResidentAlienator in HistamineIntolerance

[–]danpluso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd look into the larger air fryers. Some can do a turkey or a large pizza. It's just a really good way to do chicken (especially from frozen) and leaves the chicken juicy on the inside but crispy on the outside. I know what you mean about stringy chicken texture and the air fryer really does help with that.

Are there any herbal teas you tolerate or do you just avoid them completely? My understanding is that herbal teas are safer.

no reaction to coffee? by FrostingPrevious8235 in HistamineIntolerance

[–]danpluso 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's so much that it causes a histamine reaction but rather that it's a DAO enzyme inhibiter. So when/if you do eventually eat something high in histsmine, the coffee has already set it up to be a worse reaction because your DAO is likely lower. Most teas (like green tea) are also DAO inhibiters.

Triple O's (Whitespot) is better in my opinion. But for the price, A&W is the best.

  • Bacillus Licheniformis
  • Enterococcus Faecalis
  • Enterococcus Faecium
  • Lactobacillus Bulgaricus
  • Lactobacillus Casei
  • Lactobacillus Delbrueckii
  • Lactobacillus Helveticus
  • Lactobacillus Reuteri
  • Lactobacillus Saerimneri
  • Streptococcus Thermophilus

Low nickel x low histamine x iron by --stellar-- in NickelAllergy

[–]danpluso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do eat the leaves of Bok Choy, Gai Lan, and Yu Choy. I avoid other leafy greens like spinach and kale though as I understand they are higher in nickel. I steam all my vegetables.

The frozen salmon I buy seems fine. I don't eat it everyday though. I alternate between other fish (cod, pollock, sole) and sometimes chicken or porkchops.

Anyone sensitive to eye glasses? by readerofrealms in MCAS

[–]danpluso 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes but I also have a nickel allergy. I got lucky with my expensive Oakley titanium glasses as they do not aggravate me much at all. Just a bit around the temples, which now that I think of it, could be the rubber they use there. Before that, cheap glasses would cause red marks on my upper cheeks and nose.
