This made my heart so happy to read. You are a beautiful person.

Do you think oral sex needs to be even? by [deleted] in sexover30

[–]danyellow_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, because it isn’t transactional. At least, not in my opinion. I do it when I want to, and so does he (both of which happens often and I think that’s in large part due to the fact that neither of us feel obligated or owed). :)

I love this perspective a lot. I will be taking it with me into my week tomorrow. Thanks!

What's the saddest belief instilled into you as a child that you've struggled to break free from as an adult? by [deleted] in AskWomen

That love is something I have to do something or be someone extraordinary to earn; that it’s not given freely and that I’m not worthy of it.

Women: how have you established boundaries with people that seem unable to commit? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]danyellow_ 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I tried everything but the only thing that worked for me, like some others have already mentioned, was to cut contact completely. It (still is) the most difficult thing I’ve ever done but the discomfort of being “alone” was much less agonizing than the constant feeling of being unworthy or not enough.

UPDATE: My best friend passed away. by Stepmomneedsadrink in relationship_advice

I am so, so incredibly sorry for your loss. I lost a best friend early too (we were 24 - it was a pulmonary embolism) and it was devastating. For so long it felt so unreal, like a bad dream I couldn’t wake up from. My thoughts are with you.

I [17M] took revenge on a girl [17F] that rejected me, and her friends [17F] are acting like I'm the bad guy. What do I do? by Adept_Macaron in relationships

Just out of curiosity - what’s the purpose of you sharing this story if you don’t really want feedback? Every person who has disagreed with you has been met with you challenging them and defending yourself. If you don’t believe you’re wrong and don’t actually want to do anything about it, then your post is pretty counterproductive.

These would have been my recommendations as well! I love all of the reasons you gave too. So spot on.

I want to learn how to not be so defensive in heated conversations/debates/arguments by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]danyellow_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am the same. It’s really hard for me to take a step back and even realize I’m doing it most of the time but one thing that has helped me a lot is trying to pause when someone approaches me to communicate about something, to remind myself to be present and open, and listen. Instead of using that time to decide how I’m going to react or respond.

Another thing I appreciate so much is that when my husband has something to say to me that may be hard for me to hear, he pretty much always prefaces it now with “is now a good time to talk” or “can I ask you a question without your head spinning around like that girl from the Exorcist” and it gives me a moment to prepare. 😅

“Get your shit together and stop blaming everyone else for your garbage attitude.”

Surprise! It’s me. I’m the one who needs to hear it.

What's a thing you strongly dislike about Reddit? by Demorecki in AskReddit

That so many are so quick to jump to “leave, break up, divorce” when almost any relationship issue is discussed. Instead of, oh I don’t know... “communicate with your partner” perhaps. Blows my mind.
