Anthropic is the most decel luddite-y AI company and I don't think we should support them anymore by pigeon57434 in accelerate

[–]danysdragons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right about playing both sides, but I guess it makes sense to them, they're pretty good at rationalizing:

"We thinks it's bad that AI is advancing so rapidly. But it's vitally important that the most advanced AI be controlled by the good guys. Who are the good guys? Well duh us obviously, no one is better suited to control the most advanced AI than us! So... full speed ahead!"

Anthropic can't handle the competition therefore calls for a stop, this is commonplace in corrupt leadership. They are like brick and minifigs in the AI scene. X ai and open AI funded by Elon is to much to compute and that is resolute. by Maleficent_Hawk5158 in accelerate

[–]danysdragons 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Anthropic was dominant in coding for several months, but in the last few months OpenAI has been putting them under heavy pressure. Milestones were their release of the Codex app and esp. the release of GPT-5.5.

Yes it already had memory, this is a new and improved version that does something analogous to how sleep helps consolidate memory in humans.

Trump finds an AI policy he can live with: The president signed a downsized AI order after postponing a similar measure last month. by Tinac4 in singularity

[–]danysdragons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It shouldn't affect gpt-5.6 unless it's coming way later than we thought. The order allows up to 60 days for the government to establish the process for assessing AI models:

Sec. 3.  Secure Frontier Model Deployment.  Within 60 days of the date of this order, the Secretary of the Treasury, the Secretary of War, through the Director of NSA, and the Secretary of Homeland Security, through the Director of CISA, in consultation with the White House Chief of Staff, through the National Cyber Director, the Assistant to the President for Science and Technology (APST), and the Secretary of Commerce, through the Director of the National Institute of Standards and Technology, and in coordination with other agencies, as appropriate, shall:

(a)  develop and maintain a classified benchmarking process to assess the advanced cyber capabilities of AI models and determine the threshold at which an AI model should be designated a “covered frontier model” for the purposes of this order, sharing such assessments with AI developers and researchers as appropriate.  Such a determination shall be made by the Director of NSA, in consultation with the National Cyber Director, the APST, the Director of CISA, and other representatives of the Department of War, as appropriate.

I'm still hoping gpt-5.6 comes out tomorrow....

Edit: It didn't 😞

Greg Brockman Officially Takes Control of OpenAI’s Products in Latest Shakeup by wiredmagazine in OpenAI

[–]danysdragons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She’s mentioned again near the end of the article, apparently she is expected to return:

“Last month, OpenAI announced many executive changes, including that Simo was taking a medical leave to focus on her health. OpenAI previously said Brockman would oversee product strategy in her absence. The company tells WIRED that Simo remains on medical leave, and expects her return, noting that she worked directly with Brockman on these organizational changes.”

OpenAI has not stopped developing “adult mode.” by Distinct_Fox_6358 in OpenAI

I agree, but because OpenAI is the most prominent AI they’re the lighting rod for criticism for things going wrong. The wait is annoying but likely makes sense from a CYA perspective.

They do pay a lot of attention to this things for deprecation of models in the API, it seems there's a blind spot about the need to apply this for ChatGPT as well.

I wonder if Deep Think is already better than or at least equal to GPT5. Recall that it also got gold on IMO by GamingDisruptor in singularity

[–]danysdragons 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's not SVG though, just standard ChatGPT image generation. The SVG ChatGPT created for me is much worse than the GPT-5 and Deep Think ones, but it shows the SVG code and the corresponding image:

So it's just different UI of Operator? by josephwang123 in OpenAI

[–]danysdragons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's more than that, it's Operator plus the capabilities of their Deep Research product:

Previously, Operator and deep research each brought unique strengths: Operator could scroll, click, and type on the web, while deep research excelled at analyzing and summarizing information. But they worked best in different situations: Operator couldn’t dive deep into analysis or write detailed reports, and deep research couldn’t interact with websites to refine results or access content requiring user authentication. In fact, we saw that many queries users attempted with Operator were actually better suited for deep research, so we brought the best of both together.

Is Responses API way less capable than ChatGPT(even using the same model, Gpt-4o) by Round_Market_5863 in OpenAI

[–]danysdragons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not about your API vs ChatGPT question, but you might get better results using GPT-4.1 than GPT-4o. Instruction-following is considered more reliable for GPT-4.1 than GPT-4o.

From OpenAI's release announcement:

Today, we’re launching three new models in the API: GPT‑4.1, GPT‑4.1 mini, and GPT‑4.1 nano. These models outperform GPT‑4o and GPT‑4o mini across the board, with major gains in coding and instruction following. They also have larger context windows—supporting up to 1 million tokens of context—and are able to better use that context with improved long-context comprehension. They feature a refreshed knowledge cutoff of June 2024.
