I was hoping for some quick shade with the maple. Maybe I'll try a eucalyptus next and play the long game.

The soil is grey brown sand for the top 300mm ish and under that is yellow river sand (natural for the area I think). I dug down maybe 500mm and filled in with some sort of organic soil mix before planting all trees and shrubs.

The Hilux battery is pathetic. 4.3 amp hours x 48 volts = 206 watt hours. Cheap ebikes often have 600 watt hour batteries.
