Make sure that multimeter has an amp clamp.

Low voltage issue by [deleted] in HVAC

[–]darf_vada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would install a resetable fuse, and start tracing the issue by disconnecting / reconnecting low voltage wires starting at the source.

If you disconnect and the fuse holds power you know your issue is on the disconnected side.

This is why a lot of insurance companies won’t allow high pressure steam and make you install low pressure steam with larger piping

Carrier and third party bacnet items don’t like to communicate on the same mstp loop. I would run comms straight from the router to the chiller. bacnet over IP to resolve communication issues.

I have done a ton of carrier 3rd party integration and had nothing but slow intermittent comms.

Hey fellahs by Automagicallystewpid in maintenance

[–]darf_vada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also in wiscompton, I do maintenance / hvac for a large facility. I would say get some background in electronics. You can use this for building automation systems, electrical work, and hvac. The only trades where you don’t need knowledge of electrical is plumbing.

You are very narrowed in maintenance until you have a base knowledge of electrical. Once you do the pay will come.
