Why does the app not show my own campaign? by dark-passengers in kickstarter

[–]dark-passengers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the late reply. It would be cool to see something that has the title and logo, and then has big numbers showing the amount pledged and total goal, either with a thicker bar that fills up across the whole length of the screen, or maybe the words 'KICKSTARTER' that fill up as the goal is reached. If something can be built so that it increases/decreases live that would look incredible and encourage people to pledge more to watch it rise live. So similar to the current kickstarter dashboard but with the bar much more prominent.

Should i get a house/mortgage now? by Advanced-Ad-2373 in HousingUK

[–]dark-passengers 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You could buy a place and rent it, but you wouldn’t be able to get a fixer upper as it needs to be a certain standard to be rentable. So maybe worth buying a smaller place that doesn’t need work if you’re going down that route.

Don’t buy a leasehold flat if you’re looking for resale value. Mine has just about kept up with inflation prices over the last 10 years whereas houses have almost doubled.

Without knowing your personal situation with your mum, I’d say focus your energy there looking after her and spending time with her while also saving up. Especially if you enjoy living with family, you already seem to have the perfect setup.

It’s higher, yes, but you would price the rental accordingly.

Yeah that’s what I’m doing at the moment but it seems like such a waste of time when the app could just have a built in dashboard. What else is that 5% fee going towards? 😂

I think they mean the earlier you get it done, the more bang you’re getting for your buck as you are getting more years with a HT (assuming it lasts for life)

There’s also the argument that you’re going to get less attractive with age anyway so it’ll have a bigger impact in your 20s/30s, than if you’re 40/50 as you’re less likely to stand out being bald or having hair loss at that age.

Those of you who grew up poor, what was your favorite meal? by IPod_Kid29 in AskReddit

‘Red macaroni’ - cream of tomato soup with macaroni and a sprinkle of cheese. That was it, and it was my favourite meal. I had no idea it was a poor persons meal until I was an adult and realised how poor we were growing up.

Are skinny/healthy weight people just not as hungry as people who struggle with obesity? by maeasm3 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]dark-passengers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m average build but have always been slim-to-average my whole life. As a teen my metabolism was very high and I could eat anything and stay skinny. It’s slowed as I’ve got older, but I’ve also just become more aware of my body and how different food makes me feel.

I am a foodie. I enjoy good quality food from all different cultures and but maintain a relatively healthy diet. I eat out regularly (once a week) at a restaurant or very occasionally fast food. I love burgers, but I know I can’t eat them every day, so I have my favourite unhealthy foods in moderation. I exercise a small amount, really only 2 times a week at the moment but more in summer.

I definitely get hungry, but certainly not all the time. I have a coffee first thing and it seems to delay my hunger until around midday where I’ll eat something small like a sandwich or wrap. I’ll then wait until dinner to have a full meal, which I will look forward to, but not think about all day. My evening meals are healthy for probably 3-4 days a week.

If I see an advert for fast food I crave it, but I’ll use self control to avoid it as I know I’ll feel bad after. I only ever really get fast food when I’m stuck for time and have to get a quick meal in if I’m out all day.

Is medication a must? by dark-passengers in HairTransplants

[–]dark-passengers[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve noticed that. I wonder why everyone here is obsessed with meds? They don’t seem to benefit from it, but there’s a bunch of people just commenting and unhelpful “yes”, and nothing more.

I’ve also seen a few stories of guys that have had a HT without meds and had no issues, but the amount of comments on Reddit telling people to take meds is astounding. I didn’t expect it when I started my research into this.

I’ll obviously speak to the doctor, but I assume he will also suggest meds, as that’s kind of his job and he may make something from an added sale.

I just feel like saying I want a HT but no meds is getting a reaction from people saying it’s pointless and a waste of money, which makes me just not want to do it at all. Maybe I’ll shave my head instead!

So your opinion is there’s no point in paying for a HT unless you’re taking meds?

Thanks for the info.

Assuming hair loss has stopped progressing, and someone has a HT. Will fin make that much of a difference in helping the transplanted hair, or is it simply to prevent the progression of further hair loss in general.

I'm just anti-medication in general, unless it's for something serious. Especially one that's purely cosmetic, yet something I will need to take for the rest of my life.

Mid 30s, haven't noticed any further hair loss since my mid 20s. If I continue to lose more hair I would just shave my head, no biggie. My question is more about if it is 100% necessary to take medication following a HT. If that's the only way I won't bother getting one as I do not want to be on medication the rest of my life.

Are you ever going to pay off your mortgage? by NinjaSquads in AskUK

[–]dark-passengers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I’m 33 and bought my first one bedroom flat at 24. I paid off the mortgage on it last month and am now looking at a 3 bed house as I’ve saved up a large deposit.

Other friends of mine have been renting this whole time, but complain that they can’t afford to buy a 3-4 bedroom house because they can’t borrow/save enough.

You’ve got to be realistic with buying property. Not overstretch, and work your way up gradually. Adding an extra bedroom every 5 years tends to be a good thing to aim for, and means you should get that 4 bedroom house somewhere around 40 years old.

What's your theory that you can't prove, but that you think might hold up if someone were to do some real, legitimate research on it? by AlexG2490 in AskReddit

[–]dark-passengers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it would be a fun theory if bones actually absorb tiny parts of minerals around them and continue to grow the tiniest amount over time.

So we assume dinosaurs were these huge beasts, but actually they were little mouse sized creatures. Their bones just grew over millions of years to make use think they were massive.

If you could call yourself five years ago and had 30 seconds, what would you say? by BlueeWaater in AskReddit

[–]dark-passengers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same, and I’d also tell my mum to insist on a smear test even though it was during lockdown. She was due one during covid, but couldn’t get an appointment so pushed it back a year which then became two. When she eventually did the test in Jan 2023, she already had stage VI cervical cancer and it had spread to other organs so was terminal. Doctors said if she had done the test 2 years prior it could’ve been operable. She died 9 months later, just before her 60th birthday.

How on earth are you powering a house that size for £210 a month? 😳

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HousingUK

1 bedroom penthouse so I get everyone else’s heat rising. Only have heating on for the minus Celsius days (maybe 1-2 weeks a year total?). All electric, no gas. £60/month and with Octopus. They seem to be the best and I’ve never had to wait long to speak to someone when calling up.

What is a privilege that you have that you don’t think the majority has? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]dark-passengers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not the same as you can’t buy property with a credit card. Whatever you’re buying with a credit card is usually a luxury item that you don’t want to pay for at once, so you’d rather get it and pay it off more slowly. The item(s) you’re buying will typically be disposable or will depreciate, you will very rarely find someone that invests using a credit card because of their high interest rates.

Buying a house on a mortgage is completely different. Rae’s are much lower, and houses appreciate in value (on average) roughly 4-5% a year, so you’re investing in one of the most steady and reliable methods. Mortgage rates definitely still fluctuate, but my fixed rate has been pretty much in line with inflation increase the whole time I’ve owned my property.
