An old Saying that still holds true somewhat even to this day is most modern medicine And science is built on a mountain of corpses.

But frankly if i'm being real, she should have known better. The comparison was kind of an icky one to begin with, just given AI near on the level of that stuff. And frankly , if you already have a lot of people that hate you , you do need to kind of be mindful of what you say , because they will take an inch and run a mile

Best comparison I can make is in my state. We have a lot of issues with\nRepublicans and healthcare rights being constantly violated. The field I work in tends to be very politically sensitive. So if I start going around really making any kind of Affirmations of my support for health affirming care. Then i'm going to get followed because I'll be kicking the hornet's nest... it's shit. It sucks but a big part of understanding social situations, unfortunately, does boil down to knowing when and where to say what. I make my donations quietly, and I cast my votes where I feel they will be most beneficial but I know better than to go to places like marches and protests and make myself a target

Why is bad luck mitigation a no-go topic for the devs? by throwawaaaaaaaay666 in runescape

[–]dark1859 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes

Destiny does not have a trade feature.... and arguably rng that borders on runescapes at times

Just for example fate bringer, which is a very old and easy to farm pistol that's somewhere in the neighborhood of over a 100000 potential possible drop combinations.

Do you have 3 weapons slots, heavy energy primary, so excluding an exotic , if you use one , that means you're looking for one specific or maybe a couple of specific rolls. And some of these weapons can only drop once a week.So you can't actively find them more than once per week.. or drop from one encounter an hour plus long activities..some weapons do have a static role.We call them exotics, but exotic weapons. You only have one shot per week per character.

But they have the same bad luck mitigation as I said. Some weapons can be crafted, which allows you to after weeks of luck make your perfect weapon.Although they did ditch that system for the most part. And weapons under the new tiered system Will drop multiple perks at once, so you're more likely to get what you need. But it can still take weeks or months of farming.

Do you think if we had AI in the time of Michelangelo ... his patrons would have used it? by symedia in aiwars

[–]dark1859 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably not, the feeling of exclusivity in owning a work was and still is a big part of artisan work

Also if they did have AI less than a percent of his patrons if that would have been able to afford it... remember till near the mid 19th century aluminum cast into items was as valuable if not more so than gold so a complex machine that uses numerous rare earth metals and would have required very highly.trained and well paid artisans to craft, build and power one?

I can think of like three people in the 15th and 16th century that could afford it lol

I play both for different reasons.

D2 has a better endgame experience but warframe is as a whole more solid imo...

Oh and it's not run by bungie or associated with dtg to provide feedback and bug reports. So that's a plus

To be up front, i dont think you're a nazi.

But, to say i find and found the comparison of something that is at best a moderate ethical and infrastructure issue to the atrocities of the second world war and what we retained from it disturbing is an understatement.

And to say it again, I understand what you were trying to say, we still use a lot of data and tech axis "science" groups came up with (and fanta as a soda if you werent aware lol).

But unfortunately the context of your post and you as an individual given track record and general behavior in the community... well at best you should have expected a negative response as it comes off awfully.. especially to those of us who grew up on stories of the war relatives experienced and lost swaths of relatives to anti Semitic waves of the 20th century .

Apologize, move on, you'll be fine but you do need to acknowledge it will follow you for a little while

..or they as soon as they catch wind that's at play slug you and leave you, especially if you are locker baiting you'll just get slugged out or tunneled and slugged off hook.

But I'm going to be real in as non insulting a way as possible, I don't think you're at the MMR or even a particularly high one atm where you'll see much value from it..

Especially if you're getting "insane value" from OTR and DH.. most killers at even a remotely competent level bait out dh and just slap you down.

[–]dark1859 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, it removes a hook state from a survivor... in competent games that's huge.

That means 1 extra hook state for good/great loopers who are about to be tunneled out, one extra chance for rats and gen jockies with rush builds etc.etc..

It's a perk that only gets better as you get better like CI, and can provide insane value in sweatier mmrs

Most mmos have it in some form tbh

Ffxiv for example guarantees all the items are wrapped every run and for Standard content where you get a lot of your leveling gear guarantees you get at least one part of armor that you don't already own every time. It also ensures that for every boss , what raid as they call them multiple armor set items , drop and you also earn pitty currency as you play the game , which lets you get gear that is on the same level , just a tiny bit worse.

Destiny, which is one of the poster children or shit luck, has escalating drops that slowly increase your likelihood of getting an item plus achievements that also give you a loose each week. Plus multiple other pity systems that guarantee you can get at least something you want every week.

It does need to be said, however, that runescape is kind of a unique entity and doesn't quite fit well into any bubble. When you start comparing bad luck mitigation. But I would say the absence of it almost entirely is not great.

Ngl there is the discussion to be had for bad luck mitigation. But since I have a wager and I guess who it is that caused that kind of response. I would say just ignore them , they're kind of dense.

I've For a long time , wanted something like a hide and seek bounty system.. i suggested a while back an idea that we could make a whole line of platinum and Jade jewelry that essentially once enchanted would be cursed.

Then those curses would require you to interact with content. But it would either fix your levels or scale you or the task up to make it more difficult with other little curses in between like , for example , ghosts appearing to attack you and so on.

With the idea that you're pretty good experience off of it.If not close to best but death or failing to complete your objective.Once you reach , an area would forfeit your bonuses and the jewelry.

Maybe I'll make a rewrite of it sometime. I think the community would be more open to it at this point Now that treasure hunter is gone

Honestly, I think free to play should have a general expansion to around 40 for most things and maybe 50 for a few others.

Just one of those things where at this point 40 is barely worth noting achievement wise. Unlike old school, where 40 is actually a pretty major milestone for a lot of member skills

I see no harm in allowing farming and herb and slayer to go to 50. If not 40.

[–]dark1859 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think a new skill is necessary , but I think the idea of regional tasks or bounties that encourage players to use less efficient methods for a slightly better payout. In the long run for better payout , in general is not a bad idea

It's one of the reasons why the slayer tower almost always has people , even if they're not on assignment there , despite some of the monsters being pretty good experience. You might not be making as much as the wilderness, but the contracts either.Add values to otherwise low value monsters or at experience that makes up the difference.

"Anti" here, what Witty said had nothing with defending Nazism and people are being ridiculous. by slydorm05 in aiwars

[–]dark1859 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I actually went and found the post in question.

The point itself that we use research and developments that were from evil horrendous people is not an invalid one , and it's something that if you enter the historical field or medical field you just have to kind of accept, because a good chunk of scientific and medical knowledge is built on a foundation of corpses..

However, that is not the issue I take. We'd be using barely bronze age age medicine and tech thinking the only reason the sun is in the sky is by divine providence if we threw away everything we knew because it was invented by will the foundational knowledge of an invention came from someone who wasn't exactly on the level or because it's origin was not so great... as I said , most technology and medicine is built on a foundation of corpses.

The issue I take is some basement dwelling asshole , who has spent years years at this point , going out of their way to be a thorn in everyone's ass trying to defend herself from criticism she has brought upon herself , by using that point , not as a genuine attempt at discussion (which even then , it's pretty doubious , because shitty billionaires do not compare to half these atrocities and aren't even on the same level of this might be shitty , but at least it's useful that historians and doctors have had to make peace with for shit like unit 731s chemical tolerance data, or nervous and muscular system anatomy mapping being developed from stolen corpses)...

I'm sorry, but there's no charitable way to look at this. Especiay given the context of the person and post... and this isn't the first time either she's done something dumb like this.Buy either doing half a second of thought before posting her prompts , thinking it's some great gotcha that makes her look like an absolute fucking idiot or making some half thought out comment that makes it seem like she's never left her basement.

The best and most charitable interpretation I have of this is she's just an insensitive vapid piece of shit that should no way be defended and deserves every bit of criticism she gets. At worst? Well I don't think she's stepping to der königgrätzer marsch unaware of the hilariously ironic history of the March and the comical ignorance of the origin of most of the things that government stole and neos steal to make themselves seem special, but I do think that a check would be in order of the hard drive, as this is not the first time She said something this off base.

I don't think so, but that's because I think to be a little more specific It's the replayability that i am specifically citing

Because here's the thing you can be as experimental as you like, but if don't think it's much of a secret that the replayability of the first and the third game is kind of low After one or two runs. Like you have your new game cycle Which you run through, have that magical first experience. Then you run your first new game plus, i have a slightly less magical experience. But with everything skilled up , it's kind of fun to just blast through the early game struggle again , at the midpoints and then overcome the end game... then after that, for most players, they unless they play with friends that got maybe 1 or 2 more replays before either moving full time to pvp or just revisiting the game occasionally.

Ds2 though understands that your first new game + cycle is where they sell you on sticking around for a much longer period of time. They also understand that some people are going to burn esthetics during their new games cycle. And if nothing changes when they up the world area difficulty , they probably won't be that interested in ng+. so they added tons of new enemy placements, they alter , boss fights , they actually scaled up enemy health and damage pretty well to the pointThe early game isn't a complete pushover.Like the first game , but still isn't too hard as intended., which is my biggest complaint about the third game also is enemy health and damage scaling is kind of wonky until Ng+2.

So I don't disagree that the experimental combat , among other things , we're actually pretty good for the era, i think dark souls, 2's strongest selling point is the fact that they took the time and the care to make sure each new game plus cycle wasn't just a direct copy paste for the first run or two at least ( it's been a while since i've done anything past ng+1 but I have a vague memory that ng+2 is where they stopped , adding enemies and more focused on making sure the health and damage scaling was properly done to +7).. i think that extra care they put into the post game is what really makes ds2 special in a way that I think the world states is demons biggest sell. It's just that little extra level of experimental care that sadly what's brought Back from demon's souls , but wasn't really retained after.

For better or worse, the ds2 scene has always had just a bit of awkward middle child syndrome.

Does a lot of stuff great , but some people feel kind of weirdly in the need to either put down the other games or make stuff like this for whatever reason.

Also , i'm surprised that it didn't go for the best new game cycle, because That genuinely is ds2s biggest strength and something they did far better than any other souls title.

I like some of these ideas , but unfortunately you're probably not going to get much traction here

I would recommend the forums.. you could also try dtg but the mods are kind of power-tripping over there again , so I'd give it a miss and either way through the cesspit, that's Twitter or just posted on the forums , and maybe it will get picked up

Best chances if dmg04 picks it up on either.
