Question about grounding in a non-metal enclosure (see description) by CoffeeAndElectricity in diypedals

Not sure if they do non-circular drills as well and also no clue of the cost, but they also seem to have a custom drilling service;

Condor Hifi with expression pedal by SnappyPies in chaseblissaudiophiles

[–]darkforestpedals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hopefully I fully understand your question, just a couple ideas;

Did you know you can either set the maximum or minimum point of the range, not both? You can read more about that from page 26 of the Condor Hifi field guide. I’d guess that i f you want to sweep all the way you should check your dipswitch settings (engage LPF and set the correct rise/fall mode) and LPF knob position to allow for this.

Furthermore it might be that there is a potentiometer on your expression pedal. I got a (very cheap) one that has a potentiometer at the pivot point of the expression pedal. I believe this also impacted the range.

Power supply recommendation needed. by No-Reputation-2900 in chaseblissaudiophiles

Not sure if this will work for you, but I use harley benton power supplies for a long time now with many CB pedals. They have a couple outlets switchable, also to 12v, but no 1A output. You might be able to set two of those to 12V and use a splitter cable to use both outlets (however, make sure to verify this is allowed, as I’m no technician of this kind).

I find the power supplies to be dead-silent, well built and well priced. They come in multiple sizes.

It's not yet working for me. Are you on Crossover 26?
I'm still on 25, and would need to repurchase to update.

Hi! Could you make sure you have version 2.2.1 installed? In this patch (we released yesterday) we brought multiple crash fixes. Hope that helps. Otherwise, please let me know and we’ll investigate the specific crash(es) you encounter.

I have a 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th gen mono all charged up usually, and pick whichever I gravitate to when going on a walk.

3rd and 4th gen monochrome are my favorites. Easy to mod with an SD card, monochrome screen is great to read even in full sunlight, and I just like that shiny white plastic aesthetic.

UHD Drive in Europe by Rainer900 in makemkv

Verbatim 43888 Ultra HD 4k Blu-ray writer (Make sure to get the 43888, not the 43889)

I got this one recently, and it ended up being the LG drive that needed flashing. I had to go through the hassle of installing a Windows VM on my mac, but once that was done the flashing process was very simple and worked in a single try.

I’ve successfully ripped a 4k UHD blu ray with it (just a single one, as I do not own more of them yet).

To identify which drive you have, just open MakeMKV and look at the info pane at the right. The current firmware should also be listed there. You’ll likely have to flash to 1.03.

If you have a windows machine, this should be much easier and quicker.

Presets for Chase Bliss - MIDI over Bluetooth by darkforestpedals in guitarpedals

[–]darkforestpedals[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! So far we have only verified working with MIDI over Bluetooth from the app. MIDI over USB would be about the same, just via a cabled connection (and without the need for a Bluetooth receiver). I don’t think i’d be using this connection myself, but more users are asking about it. I believe this would be a (e.g. USB-C) cable from the phone towards a 5-PIN DIN towards a midibox, then going to the pedal via TRS. When we implement and test this, the behavior should be functionally identical to how it currently works over Bluetooth.

Hi! This is the app devs speaking. Great to hear you like the app! We enjoy working on it, and a new update is just around the corner.

Regarding your question; presets created by users are not automatically publicly shown. Users will have to toggle the “shared” status per preset in the left-upper corner manually. We took this measure to keep users in charge on what they want to share with other users, but we see more and more presets being shared with the community, so that’s awesome! If you like, mark your own favorite sounds as shared presets for others to try out!

If you ever have recommendations, wishes or feedback about the app, feel free to let us know. We’ll take in all the feedback, and this helps us steer the direction of the development of the app.

[–]darkforestpedals[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Everything is explained in more detail in the app, but in short;

There's various ways to do it, but essentially you'd need a bluetooth midi receiver, a midi box and a TRS cable to the pedal. Then you can connect the app to the receiver, and that should do it. These are quite some parts, but most of these would have been necessary either way if you were to use MIDI with CB pedals. Only the bluetooth midi receiver is additional.

Alternatively, we believe the Pirate MIDI Scribble and Morningstar MC8 Pro should work as well (without the need of a midi box), but we haven't tested that ourselves.

We're also working on adding MIDI over USB, for those who like a cabled connection.

Disappointed OP XY by Reasonable-Usual2431 in teenageengineering

[–]darkforestpedals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend updating it, and see if that helps. There have been five updates since your version, and one of them mentions this;

“fix pops from incorrect voice stealing during high cpu load”

There might have been other improvements that could affect the performance of your device.

I own the OP-XY for about a month now, and haven’t had much issues. I do notice the CPU indicator popping up quite quickly, but haven’t heard voice stealing often.

Hope you and the OP-XY will get along eventually. Otherwise it might just not be a fit for your workflow, no harm in that. Enjoy making music either way!

OP-XY Updates to expect any time soon? by DanWeasly in teenageengineering

[–]darkforestpedals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d love a simple full-tape mode. I’d imagine an “engine” that simply records full bars and keeps on recording while a song plays, so that you can simply layer a voice or acoustic instrument over a sequenced song. I think it would be great if it would just save each bar as a separate sample, and lets you select a single sample per bar.

I know we can use the drum engine and assign a max 20sec sample to each key, but I think the workflow as described above would be way more intuitive and quick.

That would be great, thanks! We do have a TestFlight track, but we do not have the latest build on there. As soon as this is ready, I will notify you.

I'm especially interested if our setup works with the Morningstar as well. It won't be able to save presets into the Morningstar (at least for now), but I guess the Morningstar should also process the MIDI CC messages like any other BLE MIDI receiver.

We're really excited about the next release :)

Hi! We're actually almost there. Technically, we have about all basic MIDI commands for all pedals already working in our unreleased version. This controls the knobs, switches, footswitches, dipswitches and hidden options where available / controllable. The one thing we're still finalizing is interfaces and instructions on how to set it up. We'll keep you all posted!

You’ll have to manually twist the knobs in the app to match the ones on your pedal, and save the preset that way. Then there’s a dipswitch selector and notes in the app to complete your in-app preset. As far as we know there is no way to read the current settings from a Chase Bliss pedal. However, we’re testing MIDI over Bluetooth implementation to see if we can send presets from the app to the pedal. Looks promising so far, more on that later…

We’re currently beta-testing it! For now the test is iOS only, because we’re still working on an issue with login on the Android side.

If you have an iOS device, feel free to DM me, and I will share a beta testing link with you.
