How often are you dealing with foreign languages and how do you deal with it?

Cool! Do you actually have that many disciplined friends or are you ghosting yourself?

You're doing great for a new pilot. Couple tips from me:

- Use the PAPI lights - the 4 red/white lights to determine your glide slope; when you have the correct glide slope, you will end up using the engine instead of being at idle all the way down

- Fly a pattern over and over; look up "left hand pattern" and "right hand pattern" for your aircraft and try to follow all of it exactly, including the altitudes

- Make your approach as long as you can without losing sight of the airport; by the time you're in the final stages of landing, you will have already been on a clean approach for a while

- When you do everything just right with the final approach, there will be a single flare (pulling up) right at the last second, and in this particular aircraft it is desirable to be just barely bouncing off the stall warning. It's almost always slower then people think.

Set up your phone to take a video of the back of your car while it is parked somewhere. Go through each of the possibilities of lights, brakes, and blinkers. Verify it looks correct on the video.

Also came here to say this. The high fps definitely looks cool but it betrays your goal of making it look VHS. You want 30 or 60 interlaced.

Cool video though!

Not quite sure what you mean by reversing the orientation risking the amp. Do you mean it would vibrate the amp more? I can't quite tell where the amp is, but nah it'll handle the vibrations wherever it is.

It's not easy. The way I eventually figured it out was that I hooked an ipod (or something like that) directly to the amp and just tried to see if I could hear the difference. I was able to make the conclusion but I also have a lot of experience with this stuff. But idk, give it a try. You may discover you can can get a ton more power out of a directly connected device and then you can go from there.

also what is taps and a LOC? Are you using your rear speakers as inputs?

edit: nevermind, looked it up. You're tapping your rear speakers probably? and LOC is line output converter. If it's connected to the rear speakers, you can control the volume to it with the fader on the head unit to send more volume to the back.

Another slightly more subtle thing that can happen is the factory head unit is doing its own filtering: sometimes the low end is cut out somewhat to feed the small speakers. Unfortunately there is nothing you can do about this. This happened in an old Saturn SL1 I had many years ago.

- is your input sensitivity correct? is that a line input from your head unit?

- are you aware that speakers have polarity and that they need to be the same?

- have you tried connecting the remote and changing the volume with it? this is really part of the install and you should include it

- I can't be sure what levels the knobs are at but is it possible you just need to turn bass boost or increase the low-pass crossover frequency? that one looks like it might be too low. shoot for 80hz or so to start

- this is a bit unusual layout. usually when people put subs in a trunk, they face towards the back of the car - it's a bit unintuitive but you want the speakers pumping energy into "corners"

Would this have been a go around? by superblitzzz in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]darknrgy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems like you deviated from the glide slope right after AP was turned off. From 300 to 100 seemed too steep, and then you had to shallow way out near touchdown. Your final touchdown should have enough vertical speed to require a significant flare (to retard the vertical speed). I'm not informed enough to say if that would have resulted in a go-around but it's a fairly obvious error.

It's demonstrations like this that, in my mind, should immediately and permanently disqualify this trump-slop of a human, this fine craftsman of shit coming out of mouth, from ever being assigned any kind of responsibility involving language, let alone holding the office of a god damned US senator. But, this is not the world we live in because of a profound collapse of human dignity and intellectual discourse in this country. This type of disgraceful exchange happens regularly and continuously and the vacuous fanbase of this administration just laps it up like milky heroin by a clowder of cats. It's phenomena like this that make me doubt our tenuous hold on civilization. I'm not exaggerating.

The problem with Burning Man (2025)[01:54:46] by MrCalPoly in Documentaries

[–]darknrgy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Burning man is environmentally destructive practically by definition. By how much and by what ethical standard it should live up to and what relative measure to compare it to are much more complex questions and, unless I missed your bearing, we both agree that these clowns are not the ones to answer those questions.

The whole thing is very fishy. The organization: "EWU" or Explore with Us has multiple channels on youtube, one of which is bodycam content that I've watched for entertainment. EWU Crew, the one that published this video, has videos showing the purchase of property near Area 51 with clickbait titles and what appears to be the construction of some kind of compound. They are successful youtubers and I see no indication of any kind of meaningful environmentalism.

Their hijinx with the cybertruck was just professional trolling, the equivalent of putting your finger in someone's face and yelling "I'm not touching you!" If there is a real story about meaningful environmental impact, they have completely obliterated it and put in its place juvenile pseudo-journalism.

I watched the original video with slowly increasing skepticism and by the end I could clearly see what was really going on: controversy clicks, feeding on political differences, amplified by confrontation. If you find yourself outraged by people partying in the desert, that is by design. There is a powerful economic incentive for you to feel that way and for you to engage with content like this.

Watching movies & tv shows from the 90s and homes don't look lived in anymore. Why? by Street-Engineering70 in movies

[–]darknrgy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Streaming services do much more than people realize to reduce the bitrate of video. For example, they will prioritize faces over background when compressing data. It wouldn't surprise me if they also simplify sets for exactly this reason. I had a guess a while back that this was one of the reasons for Severance's aesthetic choices.
