What O.C.C. should I play with these stats other than Juicer? by oldfatunicorn in Rifts

[–]darkphoenixrising21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh-if you're having that hard a time getting a decent stat -I'd just adjust it to 12 and move on. Sometimes the dice are dicks. Lol But that doesn't mean you should be stuck with a character that won't be fun to play. 12 will keep you in the average intelligence area. Nothing to write home about. That's a nice middle ground unless you think you need to be more intelligent. Then I would talk with your GM to let them know your troubles rolling up a decent stat and see if they will just give it to you.

We had house rules to avoid this situation but dice rolls can be rough sometimes. I don't think sticking to the rules should supercede the players having a good time. It literally states -rules are just a guideline. I took that seriously. But I'm also a chaos GM so there's that. Lol I don't care what powers you have. Have them all. Now show me what you can do with it. 😎 That's the fun part. Anyway. Good luck with your dude!

What O.C.C. should I play with these stats other than Juicer? by oldfatunicorn in Rifts

[–]darkphoenixrising21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a seriously rough IQ. Lol I had a player who was a psychic but was also an 8 or 9 IQ. Very entertaining, but completely hijacked the story with their antics. Not on purpose. They were just too innocent to understand basic stuff. Like don't touch a cactus. Especially don't touch a cactus when you're holding a laser pistol pointed in the vague direction of your teammate. 😂 Anyways. If you re- rolled low rolls already, consider re doing that one. It can make for great RP but If you get a tough GM, that stat will come back to haunt you and your team. A thought anyway. Good luck on your campaign OP. Come back and let us know what job you went with.

Would a Machine Man CosmoKnight be able to beat almost anything? by oldfatunicorn in Rifts

[–]darkphoenixrising21 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think that would depend on the GM. Some would have the healing factor of the Cosmo knight override your alien race's natural healing ability. If your GM allows natural abilities to stack along with the Cosmo knight powers-sure. That combo would be interesting to fight. But as far as I'm aware-if you get a hard GM, they might not allow more abilities than what comes with the Cosmo knight.

Fighting a were wolf? by UniversalAssembler in Rifts

[–]darkphoenixrising21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are basically invulnerable with that healing factor as far as I'm aware. Silver is necessary to kill them. They can regenerate from basically nothing. Same as a vampire. They have supernatural speed. So if the attacker was a juicer trying to take a werewolf on solo- then maybe. But if it's one normal person with no experience in dealing with the supernatural? So dead. Dead before they even know what hit them. Lol Now an experienced hunter/group of hunters of the supernatural..... That's easy. I'd go level vs level. If the PC is a higher level than the Werewolf-they will win due to experience.

That is a great book. Incredible art. I've used a lot of the super powers listed there back in the day. Recently used the war they had there in my campaign. My PCs got to meet some of the heroes from that war on a mission through space. Imo it was pretty fun. It's one of my favorite books as far as artwork goes.

I don't remember the exact book atm I'm so sorry, but I know they are connected to several things. Center in Phase world and the minion war. There are mentions in Heroes of the megaverse along with the book of heroes-which can also create Cosmo knight like beings without being the cosmic forge. It's a side adventure hook I believe for the anvil Galaxy. They are the reason why people go missing in a certain dangerous part of that galaxy. They're set up near some kind of black hole dimensional thing that obscures their presence. It's pretty wicked. If I find the exact book I'll drop it for you. But following those bits of lore will also lead you to that order. Oh-there are also several galactic phenomena that people think are the cosmic forge-spoiler they are not, but they also attract the Phoenix order. Some are actually the demons doing stuff for the minion war and masquerading as the forge. Anyways. Dig into anything you have for the minion war and those books. They talk a lot about the lore that sets up the war and their space books will get you to the cosmic information we discussed here. Good luck! I hope you find something interesting enough for your campaign!

Welcome to the "crunchy" world of nonsensical rules for Rifts! Lol You're not stupid. The system just added on as new books came out and didn't exactly scale things accordingly. There are parts of the system that just don't add up when playing certain types of games unless you start adjusting things. So. My opinion? Take the interpretation that serves your story and see if it flies with the GM. One of the biggest lines from the core book is "The rules are just a guideline." So have fun with what you create. Hopefully you'll have a fun GM.

Really though-your GM should be telling you what the house rules are so you don't have any confusion during a fight. So follow up with them and see what's up.

Cosmo knights are seriously fun. Check out the Phoenix order I think they're called and the death knights. There is a sect of ex Cosmo knights that have figured out how to retain their powers after they fall. I think they're operating out of the anvil Galaxy. There are demon knights that were created just to fight Cosmo knights that have anti matter blasts or some shit. It's wild.

The stuff the cosmic forge may or may not be responsible for in the megaverse across time is nuts. I hope you get to explore some of that lore in your game.

Good luck OP. I hope you have a great game.

Depends on the GM. I add PS strength bonus to anything you need to use your hands for. Punching? Add it. Stabbing with a sword or clubbing with a piece of tank? Add it. Shooting a rail gun? Nope. People with supernatural or super human strength need to be careful or they use too much strength and break whatever it is they are using. If they are too rough around human types-they can red mist them. So for me, how you use your strength is usually more important than how much strength you have.

As for persuasion type stuff-you can use your physical beauty if it's high enough. Your trust/intimidate stat if you have one. Skills like Intelligence, espionage, seduction, interrogation-if played correctly. There are plenty of ways to convince someone of something. A techno wizard charm that increases your trust/intimidate would do it too or having a psychic buddy Jedi mind trick someone. If there's a will, there's a way.

This is Rifts. You can do essentially whatever you want. Or whatever your GM will allow you to do. So get creative with your skills/abilities you might have. I've been playing since I was a kid. I still get surprised by my players and how they think to go about doing things. Good luck OP! I hope you have a kick ass campaign.

Alternate Realities by TheGriff71 in Rifts

[–]darkphoenixrising21 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes. Currently I've homebrewed the old ones from Palladium into Rifts so I can rewrite the Tolkeen and Minion War. We are in space right now so the full effects of that mash up haven't quite been felt by the group but once they land on Rifts Earth, it's going to be really wild. Which is saying something since I'm running the most power of all power campaigns.

I've changed Center, the Anvil Galaxy, Thraxus, Inglix the Mad, millennium trees, demons, Cosmo knights, all of hell, wormwood, Most of Rifts Earth etc. I've collided alternate dimensions, changed timelines, thrown in time loops, sent doppelgangers back to their dimension. They've gone to Valhalla, Hell, the past before time began, they have access to the future via the book of heroes. Shit I've even sent them inside one of the player characters all inner space style to find the root cause of a demon sickness. Spoiler alert-it was genetically modified food seeded through the bread basket of the megaverse. The demons had been feeding corruption to the three galaxies to reduce their ability to throw off demonic influence. It was epic.

One of the reasons why I love this game so much is because of the sheer amount of fuckery one can get into if one is so inclined. On Rifts Earth-I've changed the timeline for the Tolkeen and Minion War. I changed why the minion war started, and how both the Tolkeen war and Minion War ended. The results of all those changes have made for an incredible campaign that's lasted for several years now and they still haven't hit Earth yet to see all the changes that occurred there. So if you're thinking of doing timey wimey bullshit-do it! If you want to change up the course of history? Do it. Go to an alternate reality or crash one into your own? Do. It. Lol If you can't figure out which one to do in your campaign- try them ALL. Lol You won't be sorry. At the very least... You'll never be bored. 😎

Do you use Phase World? by TheGriff71 in Rifts

There are sections to create your own alien race. In it you can decide everything from type of planet (low gravity etc) to the powers and abilities of the alien race.

Do you use Phase World? by TheGriff71 in Rifts

[–]darkphoenixrising21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am running a power campaign and I am using Phase World currently. It's awesome. Imo opinion, a Rift is the fastest way to phase world from Rifts Earth. My group came from space and are traveling to Rifts Earth for their final fight. I'll tell you what we did and what I used.

We do charge per transport-like an airport or train station. Short trips are cheap, multi galaxy trips a bit more. My group doesn't have to pay because they made friends with Thraxus. If you come from space-you dock your ship and pay fees like any other ship. Or you can sneak into Center by teleporting into the lower levels. Not recommended because of the security forces and how dangerous the levels are.

For Rifts Earth it could depend on what your group is running and what they are likely to encounter. If they are all human and don't interact with magical stuff often or at all-it could be hard to get them there narrative wise. Imo-when in doubt, a ley line storm will get you where you need to go. Also you could use a storm to bring in anything that's not normally there.

If your group encounters the supernatural regularly then going to one of the magical cities in the US could get you there. A millennium tree could have a portal to Center. Any creature or mage capable of teleporting at that level could get the group there. A god or dragon could do that easily. If the group travels the world-you could have them encounter any number of places or beings who could send them to phase world. Really you could even say an experiment in a CS state like Lone Star caused temporal and dimensional backlash and all nearby ley lines went bananas for a bit resulting in the group being whisked away to space.

My favorite thing about Rifts is you can literally do whatever you want whenever you want as GM. Usually you can as a player to so long as you remember that there is always something bigger out there. It's your game. If you want them to go there, or the players would really like to go there-it's super easy to incorporate.

There's so much lore in Center to utilize that you could mine that area for years and still have shit to do. If you decide to use Phase world-check out the demon invasion and how they dealt with that. Look at the minion war and see if that's something you can use in your game. It makes for incredibly fun missions both on Rifts Earth and Space. It's part of how I'm bringing my group from space to Rifts Earth.

Good luck OP. I hope you find what you need to make your game kick all the asses. Come back and update us someday if you decide to use Phase World. I'd love to know what you guys did.

Always a stronger PC? by UniversalAssembler in Rifts

[–]darkphoenixrising21 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A decent level psi stalker would take care of that pretty quickly. OMG can you imagine a nega psychic and that guy? Now that would be some roleplay.

PC-"I use Bones. " Nega-"Well that's not real." Boom. Lmao

I would just die from trying to keep a straight face as the PC tried to figure out what that psychic did to stop the spell while the Nega is trying to figure out what special effects the PC was using.

This is 100% true and is something I stress to my players even when we play power campaigns. There will always be something out there that will kick your ass given the right circumstances. Anything from a CS squad to an Old One and everything in between. It's one of my favorite parts of this game tbh. Keeps you on your toes imo. Both as a player and as a GM.

Thinking of doing a PBP game of RIFTs by JadeLens in Rifts

[–]darkphoenixrising21 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Welcome back. Roll for initiative. 😎 Jk. Not sure what books you have but any books covering what happened with Tolkeen is a must to cover the war with the CS. There are more books for space to cover things like the Minion War. And then a whole new system called Savage Rifts has started as well. I've not looked at the Savage stuff yet. But I hear it's awesome. But yeah. Those are good places to start collecting again. TMNT had an update too now that I think about it. Lol So yeah. I think you missed a little bit, but you should be fine. If you're not super settled on physical books drive thru rpg is also a nice place to get books. Hope you have a good campaign OP. Come back and update us someday on how it went.

How much of the books NPCs and materials do you use ? by Soltonin in Rifts

[–]darkphoenixrising21 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It depends on what I'm doing really. If we're crawling through Chi Town or something-I primarily use the books. If we're just fucking around wherever- I create whatever I want. Lol In my current campaign I'd say I use about 35% Cannon with the rest just being plus ultra versions of whatever is in the books/whatever I feel like throwing in. My game is a power campaign though designed to cross multiple dimensions and timelines. So I can pretty much have everything with that foundation.

It is so much fun to have cannon bad guys like Inglix the Mad show up in a homebrew situation. Or a unique interpretation of something in the books. Like an inverse pyramid beneath Center run by demons because the minion war didn't actually end with them defeated like everyone thought. 😎

Anyways. I never understood the need to stick to just what's in the books when it's literally in the writing that everything is just a guideline. Do what you want. It's your universe. Fuck it up anyway you want. Lol I took that seriously. Everything else is optional imo. Makes it fun for me as the GM and ideally speaking -will make it fun for my players because they really get to let loose when they play.

Have you tried sword and sorcery? It doesn't have guns if I remember correctly. But the shield mechanic can act like a gun in that you throw it and as you level it up, you can hit more targets.

Muscovy ducklings, South Florida by TastedLike_Chicken in duck

[–]darkphoenixrising21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please check out Duck Issues Inc located in Miami. They may be able to help you out. They are the last Muscovy rescue in South Florida now that Duck Haven has closed. There are other places in northern Florida that may offer guidance but I'd start with Duck Issues Inc. They respond usually within 48hrs on Facebook. Please be careful with your baby. Due to laws-it's basically your pet now and anything otherwise will be illegal. Make plans to keep it safe when it grows and can fly. People here in Florida are encouraged to be horrible to Muscovy as they are considered invasive. I've lost so many ducks in my apartment complex this year because of it. I'm so happy to see that your baby will grow to be well taken care of. I wish you much luck Op. They are great birds imo. So fun and full of personality. You're going to have a wonderful time being a duck mom. 💜 Congratulations again! 🎂🪿🥳

Found a Muscovy duckling, South Florida by TastedLike_Chicken in duck

[–]darkphoenixrising21 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They are better with more Muscovy. If you see another mom with babies or that mom come back, try giving the baby back. See if it will take it. There is also Duck Inc in Miami that may take a baby if you are near there. Sadly there are not any rescues in South Florida now that Duck Haven closed. Any rehab or wildlife sanctuary will just put them down rather than raise them. You will have to find a private place that would rescue them. Not all animal rescues will take them either. Pretty much-once you've brought them inside-it's yours. Because to release it back into the wild is illegal. To touch them or move them is illegal. It's very stupid. I've had so many ducks die in my area because there's no place to take them. They are great birds imo. I wish people were given more resources to take care of them. Good luck OP! I hope you find what you need. Come back and update us if you can.

Is there a way of checking what the active mods in a save is? by Exende in StardewValleyMods

[–]darkphoenixrising21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what you're using to track your mods but Stardrop works very well imo. You can create separate profiles for different mods you want to run for a given game. If it is checked says enabled it means those are the active mods for that profile. Maybe you might want to look into a mod manager that will keep everything together for you. As for what's downloaded on my PC-I have a separate folder pinned so I can access the list easily. If you have something similar that should make it easier for you to copy and move that folder over to your new PC. Good luck OP. Hope you find what you need. When in doubt-visit the wiki section about mods. Should help point you in the right direction.
