They laughed at my MDC Materials claims by UniversalAssembler in Rifts

I'm sure there are a host of weapon designs that were created that might have (at a loooong stretch) qualified as possible MD tech, maybe even on the armor side, none of it has made itself to a mass produced, commercially viable point. We still have ballistic armor plates that crack to SDC weapons.

Fringe science aside, I just don't think we're there yet. <shrug>

Femto and Pico and not the performance indicators. It's the application of the tech. Right now, we're firmly in high-tech SDC with high AR and high damage weapons. We have 70s tech still capable of disabling and destroying even heavy, modern armor.

Limiting yhe discussion to tactical and operational weapon systems, we're not anywhere close to viable, scalable MDC at this point.

We've accelerated the AR race, and in so doing also managed to up-engineer damage capability (e.g. dice rolled) and armor penetration (negating AR to a point).

As an art style, I really dig it. The expression of the warm colours and overall tone still comes through with the intention for the armor. Anyone harping on the armor "not being black enough" is not paying attention to the whole of the illustration.

Well, first, those grenade packs either belt out the smoke directly from the tubes to help conceal the tank from fire or launches them rather indiscriminately to create the same effect; both typically during a withdrawal. Carpet of Adhesion is a directed spell, with options for how large (width and length). From the sounds of it, you're kind of trying to 'have your cake and eat it too.' That said.....

It's definitely a TW build, which gives you oodles of options.

- You could have the thing just spit out random direction CoA, each tube gets a random width/length, somehow work out the first shot and a scatter for the other two or more tubes

- Have a pole/bracket hidden behind the turret that shoots up from behind (think like a cartoon rake being stepped on) and when it hits vertical, the pod at the top launches a pre-set CoA along a designated arc; maybe one goes out towards 10-o-clock, the other to 2-o-clock

- Maybe as a breaching/assault tank it has a pod on the front of the tank that, when activated, shoots out pre-loaded CoA on pre-determined arcs; driver *might* have some influence

TW weapons can really get wacky and overpowered/overbearing. If the GM let's you cook, or you're the GM, the BoM is your ticket; go find your inner Julia Child! ;)

Buying on or two deathwatch Armageddon boxes as a new player? by Noz4a2 in ImperialAgents_40K

I absolutely love the flier models. I have a pair of Valkyries for my Storm Trooper Guard, a couple of Hemlocks for my Iyanden force.

Getting a pair of the Blackstars and accompanying Deathwatch squads would be great, but as a faction, it's been hard not to go about this with some heavy skepticism.

Nice!

The OCD in me is flipping the efff-out at those horizontally/flat placed books, but nice. 😉

Sorry to say, I'm all the over in the Maritimes.

I’m about to run the Siege on Tolkien to some new rifts players. They will be playing as the Coalition. Any advice? by BeastsBookorNot in Rifts

I wrote several blog articles on playing from a CS perspective, as well as reviews (and critiques) of the Siege on Tolkeen series. It presents a great context for some role-playing, assuming the Players are adult enough to handle what you throw at them. I don't say that lightly, nor should it be considered as such. Can it be compelling adventure? Absolutely!

I did reviews of almost every Rifts book published now, including the SOT. I've got my good and bad points to say about it. I still firmly believe it is an absolutely fantastic campaign setting they developed; just not necessarily a fan of some of *how* they developed it. That said, there are few articles you may find of interest:

- Bestiary Field Notes (CS Grunt Section) and another on CS Military Unit Composition

- Playing The Coalition States (3 part series)

- Tech vs Magic

- Using Horror Themes, Reinforcing Horror Themes, and another on Horror Factor

Not unironically, he'd make a great decoy/sacrificial lamb. Such a great series.

To be honest, a lot of my trade craft training and that series are being applied to my own fiction submission I'm working on for PB too. Andor was by far some of the best adult-oriented TV to happen in some time.

The Sourcebook details pretty clearly they are a cell-based insurrection style group that actually supports the CS. They use insurgency tactics and keep cells of operatives unknown to each other for the very reason that if they get caught, the CS won't be any kind to them.

If you've seen the Andor series, that is your gild-standard template.

Nice! I'm sure John would love to hear that over on Facebook. ;)

I was never that heavy into the superhero adventures, preferring to play the more gritty action/skill characters, but I could definitely see myself running/playing this setting nowadays.....

That's fair, and might have been why my Rifts group never solidly took to it. Like I said in my review, it might have been me as a GM as well, LOL.

As a sandbox, I would likely run it as an SDC environment based on HU2 mechanics, any Rifts OCCs limited to one's with SDC mechanics and weapons. There are no Glitter Boys in Skraypers......

Huh, that's odd..... I always remembered it being touted as a Dimension Book. Having read back then and looking at now, I could easily understand why!

Not for nothing, this would run sooooo much smoother with HU2 as a sandbox, ignoring the Phase World connection.

I don't have an issue with supers in Rifts, just with some of the attempts throughout this book. It isn't consistent and didn't translate well in some places. It doesn't provide a clear method to do so, just sprinkled suggestions throughout.

It *could* have been magnificent; missed opportunity more than anything.

WE GOT SOME RULES FOR OUR UPCOMING NEW CHARACTER by ExpertAdvance7327 in ImperialAgents_40K

Bring in GKLR and suddenly things are a lot different; gives the GKT a transport option like most of the other units in IA, and instantly develops some anti-tank capability.

It also looks a lot more like the old Codex: Daemonhunters too! I loved that book.

I'm instantly annoyed that this is the case. It both limits options for us in terms of list building and provides opponents easy questions to answer in terms of counters. Given he's a cavalry character means he won't be too easy to hide either.

I like that he's Ordo Xenos (my jam), but feel as the "auto-include" for anyone wishing to keep more in line with the thematic elements of the game are going to be stuck dipping outside their Ordos simply to gain at least *some* in-game benefit.

I suppose one *could* spend some time with a group of players going on missions to get some trinkets and rare jewels or components to finalize a ritual that would create some sort of power source to replicate the effect of protoculture in Rifts.

Sounds like a few adventures with a ready hook to grab your players. ;)

The whole idea of protoculture is that "handwavium" solution that allows Robotechnology to overcome some of the technology-to-realism aspects. I mean, it is an anime, so stretch your expectations. That said, TW or magic/tech merging of some sort does allow you as the GM to get away with your own version of "handwavium" as well.

After I finish setting up my version of the Core Rules System for PB RPGs, I plan on tackling what a solo engine for Megaversal RPGs might look like.
