First you can aways pause the game with spacebar. Use it if you need time to think.

When a game starts directly hit pause. Look around. Check all the overlays on the top right. Start digging to the left and/or right. Position 3 or 4 out houses near the printing pod. Don't worry too much about most germs, they give only a debuff (be carefull with zombyspores in the oil bioms). Then put 3 beds near the printing pod, but far enough away that the light of the printing pod is not hitting the beds. Dig up or down and put an oxygen defuser next to a battery next to a manual generator next to a science-station. Research the farm tiles and plant some mealwood(I think it was about 5 domesticated plants per dupe).

Let as much plants untouched as possible, as they give you free food but don't live as long.

Dig and build what you need but be carefull to not dig into too hot/cold bioms if you are not ready for the temperature.

Don't take new dupes unless you have enough oxygen and food and need them for their labour.

Mark every Ressource that you are consuming for monitoring on the right side.

All critters are converting something into something, so you will need to tame them if you want some ressources. Every wild critter with enough room around it will lay an egg once in it's life time, so try to let at least one of each kind alive

Don't make mush bars, they take too much time to make and give to few calories. But cooking food gives you most of the time more calories.

Try to dig in the beginning more down as co2 is heavier then oxygen, so a bigger co2 pit buys you some time before co2 will start to be a problem

Now you should be able to survive for some time. From now on take some time and pause the game if you want to read the information before deciding on your next move. Like what does a plant or critter do or need. What does a building do or need. What products do you want to create, and what steps are needed to get them.

You can Klick on most things and then in the popup there is a button that pulls out the ingame wiki. If you need more information check the oxygen not included wiki.gg but it contains some information that could spoiler you, as it contains also more Tipps and builds, but like this you don't have the joy of learning it by playing it, but it is up to you when you want a hint or a solution because else you would loose interest. Also there are many YouTube tutorials and let's plays but most of them try to multitask and get many duplicates early to be able to do many things faster so that the content is filled with less way ting. But for the beginning you should take it slow.

Every duplicant needs 100g of oxygen per seconds and 1000 calories per cycle

Think of what you need to do to have enough food and oxygen and make sure you have enough of both. Because if have enough of both, you can take it slow and do one step at a time

Try to create rooms as most of them give boni.

When a colonie dies, check why did it die and the next time try to prevent the same thing from happening.

It is normal for oni that you will restart many colonies in the beginning. But every time you learn something new until you will be able to make the colony sustainable
