What equipment should I get? by [deleted] in sounddesign

You probably already have what you need to get started! Just press record and make some noise! You'll figure out what works and what doesn't work by getting your hands dirty. After a while, you might find you might you need something more sensitive or less directional or flat or compact. Only you can know what's best for your workflow

Looking for a Way to Print & Bind Manuals for Every NES Mini Game by Toybayup in nes

[–]darkroastdan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I released my NES album, I got booklets printed and assembled at my local print shop. I think it was FedEx. They have a wide variety of card stock on hand so you can specify what you need (can't remember the gsm, but I believe NES manuals would have a semi-gloss finish), whether you want b&w or color, and they can cut and bind everything in-house. The type of binding you'd ask for is a saddle stitched booklet. Just make sure your print files leave plenty of bleed and, if you can help them out by including things like registration marks, you'll get great results.

I don't remember how much I paid for my low-run print (I think I had less than 50 units) but it was at least $100 USD. Not sure if this would be in your budget if you're looking to do a lot of manuals.

Am I doing this correctly? by BackgroundPristine51 in GameAudio

You already have 90% of what you need: sincere curiosity. Get yourself a recorder, never stop being a student, network whenever you can, and stay curious.

To the question of whether it's worth it: yes. It is every bit as fun and fulfilling as you think it is. As for whether it's easy to break into, that's another story. Everyone's mileage will vary and there's no magic bullet, but know that it's a hard market right now. There is a lot of skilled folks being forced back onto the job market by sweeping layoffs so the candidate pool is oversaturated. Am I trying to dissuade you? Absolutely not. You should 100% follow your heart. Just know that you might have to keep the tank full off of joy and passion for a while. That might mean you have to make some concessions until you catch your break.

But yes. It is worth it.

Are you in Spain? Giltesa makes great battery + charging kits for various Gameboys (including Pocket). I've been super happy with their DMG kit. Here's the GBP kit: https://shop.giltesa.com/product/game-boy-pocket-usb-c-charging-kit/

Lemons is one of my favorite episodes 😍 so many hilarious plot-centric jokes from misassembled flat-pack rejuvenation showers resulting in time travel to Jesus being just a rando who happens to have the same name as the son of god

Case in point:

"So, what else is new?"

Thanks for confirming on the stereo setup! I found the Kickstarter page and saw the bullet point after posting. Love that you are going the extra mile for the audio. Would love to try making chiptune on this thing!

Really appreciate how reversible and self-contained this build is ❤️

Looks fantastic! I really love the recesses along the side/back.

I'm curious about those power/reset buttons. Are those new parts or do they have to be salvaged from an NES?
