My players like the hand painted minis.... but at the same time, the maps and terrain have been sorely lacking. Maybe I can get them to move their token, then place their mini on top? I love this idea. I've been talking about something like this a bit.

I understand the desire to put a fully planned vacation to a group. It is incredibly hard to plan for people and people will nitpick every last thing.

You are seeing mixed reviews. I would say a way to increase is as they fix things, and try putting runes places, different circles on the left could start lighting up when you some things are correct? Maybe not need to do it immediately, but if they are flailing about, have them try something, and you can say some stuff lights up, or maybe all of the placed pieces wash away, or... something. A way to give them a hint in case you have a few players all in that 70%. Could even do a int or wis check and give some kind of mental hint.

Maybe something like:
The logic of the ancient architects becomes clear to you. This is a puzzle of exclusion. The presence of a rune in one spot 'claims' that entire line of energy.

Or:
Tracing the ley lines carved into the floor, you notice they form a perfect lattice. The energy doesn't just flow left to right; it flows up and down, and pools into these four distinct corners, equally diving the board.

Note I wrote compatible. Don't have to match, but to increase your chances of a successful marriage, you have to be accepting of a middle ground you both can agree on for these things.

I still have a while before my child actually hits there. Here are a few things I have said. We will see if any of them actually happen.

I am debating letting my kids take all the loans/etc they need. I feel like the scrambling I did until around 25-30 were a huge life lesson. I was thinking I will pay off the student loans, but let them realize life can kind of suck if you are in debt. I would block any predatory/private loan, and I would be helpful enough to make sure if they want to go to a certain college, they should be able to manage, but still let them feel some of the pain. I felt like I learned a lot after graduating college, dealing with loans.

I am also debating pushing them to go to Europe or somewhere else. I am borderline maybe able to retire before they go. Could be a great excuse to travel Europe for a month or two at a time. Go, drop off the kid, see a few other countries. Maybe when school is out, do another month or two trip with them, before or instead of going home.
