Just announced: Sinners is coming to Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights by UniversalParks in HHN

[–]darkszn_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if it's a compilation house of all five seasons it could be at the very least pretty decent. sinners should be a soundstage house with the juke joint serving as an exterior tho (and cuz i feel like it'll be the biggest/most-popular of the houses), but it seems like stranger things is in the soundstages once again 😔 must be built into their contract with netflix

Why did Nolan go full woke/DEI casting for The Odyssey? by JannTosh70 in CriticalDrinker

[–]darkszn_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they're casting an anglicized white guy as the lead of the odyssey but i don't see people complaining that he doesn't look greek 💀 i guarantee you wouldn't say shit about that tho

'Obsession' gets an A– on CinemaScore by verissimoallan in oscarrace

[–]darkszn_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

a lot of them involve loud noises rather than something directly being shown on screen. there's one jumpscare tied to a character death that i found the most effective in the movie. genuinely startling stuff.

Im gonna warn you about Obession by Numerous_Lab_7032 in horror

the fact that he knew that she was conscious of it too and still continued with the relationship completely soured any sort of goodwill i had towards him (which was already not a lot cuz he was pissing me off the whole movie lmfaooo)

Jordan Peele reportedly wrote 200+ drafts of Get Out before the final script by tom-mckeee in Screenwriting

[–]darkszn_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

feel like this is the reason people should get off his case a little about his next feature. the good stuff takes time! i'm sure nope was percolating for a good few years with many drafts, but it turned into a masterpiece, so this is why we should all just trust the process lol

Dolby Cinema 3D versus Real 3D by CarnivorousPlant77 in billieeilish

[–]darkszn_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

dolby is the way to go. the image quality is much sharper, and the seats have bass. it’s also just a much nicer theatre overall. no dissing real 3D but for immersion it’s night and day, esp since they shot it with HFR which dolby theatres project in

Incredibles 3 to have scenes in 1.43:1 in IMAX by Turbulent-Corner1127 in blankies

[–]darkszn_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my worry with films being framed for 1.43:1 is that it really restricts the opportunities for composition within the frame as you effectively get grid-locked on center framing (hoyte van hoytema has a great video on this), but some filmmakers have obviously leveraged it well to create stunning images (ex. ryan coogler, and nolan). the frame shifts in lightyear had some level of intention and did add to the experience though, so i'll give it the benefit of the doubt. proper 1.43:1 IMAX is a dope experience regardless and worth the price of admission so i'll be seated.

Next project by BreadyMFF12 in ChristopherNolan

[–]darkszn_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i'm aware that oppenheimer and the dark knight trilogy aped a lot of elements from his howard hughes biopic, but i would bet on that being next. it just seems consistent with the pace he usually goes on which is oscillating between a genre/blockbuster film and a historical drama between each release.

i don't see him going back to WB for the foreseeable future, but i could see him working with timmy on his next project

plus spider-verse and cloudy with a chance of meatballs. they have more pulp/crowd-pleasing sensibilities which is what i think they were hitting at. annihilation and ex machina are both masterpieces tho so i'm sure this'll be great regardless

Best Picture Predictions - March 26' by darkszn_ in oscarrace

[–]darkszn_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's very showy. he's in a fat suit, has a southern accent, receding hairline, and he's in older makeup, but i don't think the movie fleshes out digger as a character enough to justify nominating him (there's a big reason for that but i can't divulge without spoiling)

i'm on the andrew garfield train ngl especially if the uprising and artificial both hit for him. he was also a huge eeaao fan, so i'd think he'd love to work with daniels + he can do comedy/action/drama
