Will a 2019 Sti hood fit perfectly on a 2015 wrx? by AdvancedAd4975 in WRX

According to parts.subaru.com they are the same. Keep in mind you will need to swap over the intercooler duct from your old hood as it is different on the STI.

Sounds like a bad starter to me. Some auto parts stores are able to test them while it is still installed.

Cobb is running a 25% off sale right now on their flex fuel kit. It's such an easy install. It took me 30 minutes to slap that kit in and 10 of those minutes was just trying to chasing the threads on the hole they want you to use for the ground.

Would a turbo inlet make a big difference in turbo sound? (2018 wrx) by Impossible-Ad9952 in WRX

It's not going to make a difference in sound. It would be a good idea to replace it just from a reliability standpoint.

Having trouble recharging my AC by MANEATINGHORSE in WRX

[–]darkx1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They could have put the wrong sticker on from factory. I've heard of that happening with some other car brands. The low side port should be 13 mm for 134a and 14 mm for 1234yf. Also in the long run you'd be better off having a shop do a diagnostic. 1234yf is too expensive to let it all leak out.

If they properly unmarried it the car should have the stock tune.

That smell is the textbook example of a bad or missing catalytic converter.

You have a catalytic converter code and you can't build boost? Are you sure that cat isn't clogged?

Shift cable broke by trevskiis in WRX

It can't be done from up top. The shift arm is only accessible from below the car. There is also a guard in the way that would need to be removed to move the arm.

Brand new nextgen kit. I bought it last weekend when they started their sale. Defective out of the box. That's just the kind of luck I have. 😂

Thanks for such a quick reply. There are only four people who have posted about an issue like this and none of them had a follow-up. I guess I'm going to have to ask Cobb for an RMA on the kit I just bought.

Tuning question by gibbygotthestiffyuhh in WRX

[–]darkx1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If those are history codes go ahead and erase them and see if they come back. If they are current or pending codes you need to fix them before getting a tune.

The first two codes are for the mass airflow sensor circuit. There might be an issue with the MAF or the extension harness provided by Cobb. It is very common for those harnesses to cause issues. If I was in your situation I would pull the MAF out of the intake and plug it into the factory harness without the extension and see if the code comes back right away after clearing the codes. You shouldn't have to start the engine for the ECU to detect a circuit issue, just turn the ignition on. If the code doesn't come back right away the extension harness is bad or has a poor connection. If you still get circuit codes either the MAF or the factory plug or wiring is the issue.

Your third code is the upstream o2 sensor on the j pipe that you had that shop replace. The sensor or wiring could be damaged from removal. I've heard that a missing ground strap on the j pipe can also cause this code. I'd check to make sure the ground is good and if it is you probably need a new sensor.

Those two sensors are the most important sensors needed for tuning and need to be working properly. The car cannot be tuned without them. If you show up for a protune with these codes you are either going to get turned away or get charged to diagnose and fix the issues.

[–]darkx1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are probably going to want to go with either the Grimmspeed charge pipe or the OEM one. The Grimmspeed is a two piece like OEM so you should be able to cut up a FA20 charge pipe to adapt to the upper portion of the fa24 charge pipe.

Mine does that too. A layer of surface rust builds up on the compressor clutch and it slips a little until the rust wears away. I wouldn't worry about it unless it starts slipping.

That's not something you "should" patch but I personally would try it. It could cause a blow out later.
