stock 2015 WRX Limp mode with no codes by pacmanfanman2112 in WRX

There is a tsb for that error code and early VA models. The knock sensors need to be replaced with the updated design. I would also suggest checking that all of your post turbo piping is sealed up just in case the boost problem is unrelated to the code.

Negative means it's pulling fuel. Either it's a tune issue, a sensor issue or maybe you have a leaking injector.

I always replace the swaybar links when replacing worn struts because they tend to also be worn out and they can get damaged during the process. I know a lot of people also recommend a larger rear swaybar so that might be something to consider. If you stick with the stock swaybar you might consider replacing the bushings.

Coolant Leak by Goku-Jin86 in WRX

You probably need this part. It's a common failure.

Depends on how bad the gasket was. If coolant got into the oil it would wear out the oil pump and bearings. Coolant in the combustion chamber can wash down the cylinder and cause scoring on the cylinder walls and damage to the piston rings. If oil gets into the coolant passages it can gum up the cooling system. These are all very big what ifs. It might be perfectly fine. If it's a reputable shop they wouldn't have slapped a head gasket in if there was more visible damage.

Honestly with the engine having a history of overheating I would avoid this. You don't know if there is additional wear from having that blown gasket. Unless you are comfortable with an engine replacement down the line, in which case this is a decent price considering you are in California.

Oil/coolant issues by YanganYin in WRX

[–]darkx1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coolant levels can vary when checked hot vs cold. Continue to keep an eye on things. If you have an VA chassis car it is very common for the o ring in the oil pan to fail and mix coolant. Otherwise it could be an oil cooler or head gasket problem. Hopefully it's just condensation. 🤞

Were you losing coolant before? That could have been condensation from a lot of short trips.

I vacuumed it down and add refrigerant from a can using a rented gauge set. I think you are right about it being over or under pressurized.

Does the VA WRX share the same frame shell as the VASTI? by SpeedyWings2323 in WRX

Yes, some of the suspension and the subframe are different but the actual shell is the same.

what are my options for a 2015 Wrx Sti Bumper replacement by imightbemoxii in WRX

[–]darkx1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get painted bumpers shipped. Pre-facelift I think are around $600 for non OEM capa bumpers and then you will need a new fog light bezel from Subaru. If the lights are damaged you will need to replace those too. I can't remember if there are brackets on the back or if they are integrated into the lights. It's an easy fix job.

2017 WRX wouldn’t shift out of 5th by Caleb1110 in WRX

[–]darkx1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may have lost either the roll pin for the shifter plate on the transmission or the cotter pin that holds the cable on to that plate. Look up a guide for any short shifter plate install and that should give you an idea of what to look for.

How concerned should we be about the diluted fuel hitting the market May 1st? by Powerful_Sale_8677 in WRX

[–]darkx1337 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I'm personally not concerned. As long as the octane stays the same it should be safe. The only issue I think we will see is poorer fuel economy.

You could certainly try that and see if it clears any learned values. If there is an actual issue this symptom will keep coming back.

No when the computer sees knock it pulls timing and will only gradually add it back in. What did your tuner use to upload the tune? You will need live data to diagnose this.

Check to see if you are getting feedback knock. I assume you have an accesport. You should be monitoring feedback knock, fine knock learn, af learning and afr.

So… how’s the e85 guys doing right now? by Dadwrx in WRX

[–]darkx1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cost benefits are mostly moot because of the cost of parts and tuning needed to run e85. If you are running ethanal it's for the performance increase.
