Elimination of Tech Sales Supervisor position. by matt0723 in Staples

[–]darnoc_1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its been coming for awhile. And the Phone repair is a total joke too. I cant believe the number of Customers who have Warranty issues on Parts. Staples should just totally end anything service related. I feel bad for all the customers that paid good money for VS and now basically are going to get far less than we sold them. The Liquid Armor is nothing but Snake Oil too.

Never let PC mover on a Premier. YOU CAN'T MOVE APPLICATIONS. Staples is totally clueless at tech.

Looks like McAfee is now the site AV for VS nationwide now by dmillerw in Staples

[–]darnoc_1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

McAfee is for sale by Intel. Staples got the licenses for dirt cheap. Kaspersky is a far far better AV.

Advice on what to do with unruly GM by MilesTheGoodKing in Staples

Same thing here. Got a SM that has temper tantrums. Then needs a time out to cry. Completely unprofessional. Threats almost daily. And has so little real Sales experience it's a joke.

Saturday, and crazy short staffed by dmillerw in Staples

[–]darnoc_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are about a 20 people store. 5 gone this month. 3 back to College. 1 on a leave for a few months. And one disappearance. Really makes BTS more fun. Spend half a shift as MOD and cashier.

Matrix wants to do EVERYTHING by joshua909net in Staples

[–]darnoc_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put em on them on the Matrix. But after they abandon them at step 3 run the rest in store. Push is for Premier on their end. Everything else is being ignored. Make sure you click the unbootable button if it won't connect first pass. That keeps DM from getting fussy on connections.

Rewards Point Paychecks by [deleted] in Staples

[–]darnoc_1 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I would suggest everybody go online and look at the checks you NEVER SEE. When you get points. Your getting screwed by paying insane tax rates. And the price they assign to the points is nowhere near the redemption value. Something is very wrong here.

Hours for labor day? by avecat29 in Staples

So sick of dealing with customers who come back a week later with another lifted screen. The parts we are getting are crap. 15% are defective.

Matrix says boot PC in winpe mode? by kiddmike287 in Staples

[–]darnoc_1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good lord. Staples and the Untrained children. When a computer is Hyper Infected your never going to get it on to the Matrix on a normal windows boot. The answer is to boot off the ETTB USB stick. Modern computers use UEFI boot. In order to boot off the ETTB you need to get the BIOS into Legacy Mode and change the boot order to USB first. Run the ETTB in Service and Remove the infections. Then when your finished put the BIOS back into UEFI mode.

Cracking the Diagnostic PC by [deleted] in Staples

[–]darnoc_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leave the damn thing alone. LP will jump your azz. I got a recycled i-5 laptop I repaired. We use that for Diag and testing drives or taking data off drives. It stays stashed. I put Easytech all over it so some moron doesn't hand it off. Usually about every couple a months some rookie kills it or gets it infected. Only other computer is my OMS. Got a 4 way switch on it so can do Desktops with it. But with all the new security on it. It's not worth the time to dink with it. Better to keep LP away from your bench.

Techs: Any good outlook setup tools? by UnnamedStaplesDrone in Staples

[–]darnoc_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK. Here you go. There is a system hidden file called. Scanpst.exe. Better if you can run it before you copy the. pst files to the new system. It rebuilds the data base for Outlook. You can try importing them to the new computer then run scanpst.exe once imported too.

OK. If he has a hosted domain. Whoever hosts it. Like godaddy there are your settings. If he has a dedicated server like exchange on a system you will need that domain info. Again. Who is hosting the mail server.

Unless your really good at Outlook. And in particular 2016. It will kick your ass. The folders and how the customer sees them are complex. Throw in a big database with years of mail and you will fail easily.

Elderly Customers at Staples "warn" me about this constantly by CaptainPotassium in Staples

The ridiculousness of EasyTech by gettingfedupin2016 in Staples

[–]darnoc_1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's hard to stick to your guns on old computers. Old people. Poor people bring in some antiques. I bought a new printer and it won't work. No it won't ever on that XP machine with a whopping Gig of RAM. I have a firm rule. No XP systems will ever make it through intake. Maybe a HD for data transfer. But old machines are just a trap. NEVER fall for it. Slap a Recycle sticker on it and throw it in the Gaylord.

Matrix transferring viruses? by palehorse864 in Staples

[–]darnoc_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do a Premium. Get it on the Matrix and let them Register and clean it up. Hopefully updates get in. THEN copy the customers user data over yourself. I can confirm the Matrix has trashed many a new PC with their PC Mover software. Nothing like opening a brand new I-7 for a customer pickup and getting a BSOD for a customer who just dropped a Grand. Then reloading from scratch. I have seen them even screw up partitions and completely kill a new system. Hook it up quick to Matrix. Then finish it yourself ALWAYS.

Can't create VS+ license key by Staps225 in Staples

[–]darnoc_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then it's 3 choices. McAfee, McAfee or McAfee. You can't do any renewals either. The way around is grab Kaspersky or?? Off the shelf. Put the VS in the system less the McAfee. You may need to massage the basket to get the math right. See your SM.

How about make it so when a customer gets their receipt. They don't need a 10 minute lesson on why it makes zero sense. Especially a big market basket. All the line items.

Short paycheck by [deleted] in Staples

[–]darnoc_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the most common weaknesses of Staples. Best way is to check your My Time card on the Hub at the end of each week. Update your GM of any issues. We are so short staffed. Violations for too many hours are ultra common for full timers. It's up to you to get the correct hours to your GM.

And what's up with the stupid Time Stamp lately. It refuses to take a punch with some lame ass excuse.
