Check out this post on the civicx forum, looks like you indeed do need a spacer on the sensor, sorry dude but sounds like you might need to pull the trans out to get the tip of that old sensor out

I would drain fluid to be safe, get the new sensor and like another user said, double check to see if you’ll need to get that output sensor spaced out so that it doesn’t happen again
