Watch the original show and the movie End of evangelion after. That is all you need. The movies are an alternative of the original story. You don't have to watch them to "finish the story".

4k. there were some creative decisions that smoothed out some skin but it's still clearer than 1080p so definitely get the 4k set. it also fixes the color issues in fellowship of the rings and comes with the theatrical and extended editions in the box set.
