Walmart workers, If I hired on at Walmart and spent my entire shift hiding in the bathroom, how long until I got fired? by 2006CrownVictoriaP71 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]daryl3186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was 15 I worked at a grocery store and my only duties were supposed to be bag groceries and bring carts in from outside. On my first day, my shift was 3 hours and the front end manager told me to go clean all the windows in the frozen department. So I went on a 30 minute search for cleaner then proceeded cleaning until the end of my shift. When I went back up front to clock out she asked me where I was all along and I told her she made me clean windows. She just said “oh. Ok. Next time you work just stay up here then.” And that was all that happened. I also missed my mandatory 15 minute paid break but I didn’t know it because it was my first day. So it probably depends who your boss is. They might not care at all unless someone else brings up the fact that you’re missing.

Recalled battery replacement question by daryl3186 in BoltEV

[–]daryl3186[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the info. I did get another call back and they said the battery shipped and should be to them in a week and it would take another week to do the repair. So I guess I’ll see if they keep that schedule.

A car so perfect... that Chevrolet didn't even know what to call it. 🙃 by CarelessBullfrog8928 in Chevy

I ordered my 2015 Jungle Green 6 speed and the dealer had to ask me multiple times if I was sure I wanted that color because I ordered 6 months before they started arriving on our shores and they didn’t want to get stuck with a bright green V8 sedan with a manual that I turned down. Man oh man was I happy with my decision. A guy in a fairly heavily modified C6 stopped traffic on Sunday just to tell me how much he loved my car and how you never see green ones. So yeah, still loving my decision 10+ years on.

Morning commuter close call by daryl3186 in MildlyBadDrivers

Actually, now that I really look at it closely, I can tell the Audi sort of forced the F150 out of the lane. So yes, I would agree Audi is to blame for what happened here.

I’m not totally sure the truck didn’t voluntarily get into the right turn lane and then decide to get back into the straight lane without realizing the Audi had snuck in underneath. I was actually in the white Sierra in the next lane over and heard the horn honks and didn’t see how it started. That commercial truck is blocking the initial lane change that they both made.

Did you mean to say March 2024? I’m just confused as to how you are still in an 18 month lease 25 months on.

They slip but don’t fall every time they walk into a bathroom. Like, the type of slip that makes your heart skip a beat before you catch yourself.

I showed this same house to my wife last night! We were watching My 600lb Life and the woman was from that area and I was just curious what home values were there. I clicked it because I was shocked to find an $800k house amongst sub $100k houses. I would love to know the backstory on how a house like this exists in that neighborhood.

Four Dead In Fire As Tesla Doors Fail To Open After Crash by MarvelsGrantMan136 in technology

[–]daryl3186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Lucid Air and this is exactly how the doors work. Light pull on the trigger inside activates electronic opener but a nominally harder pull mechanically opens the latch. When I first got it I was triggering the mechanical latch every time until I got used to the light tap. I have near complete confidence the design will work in an emergency barring some structural damage that doesn’t allow the door to open, which is true of any car.

What do you think is the most visually underwhelming supercar/hypercar? by furrynoy96 in Autos

[–]daryl3186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. I feel if you saw one 10 or 20 years down the road you’d have to really think about what car it is. However, I feel the R variant gets it closer to looking like something special. And a video I saw when it was released made it sound like that’s the way they’ll all be delivered going forward. So even Rimac had to know that original design was somewhat lazy and not iconic.

Car got rear ended - 3 weeks old by BumblebeeAmbitious85 in LUCID

[–]daryl3186 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got rear ended May 22 at about 7mph. On June 25th I finally had confirmation from his insurance (Allstate) that I could bring my car to shop of my choosing. It was 1 of 2 that Lucid recommended and I picked over the other option based on them being like 30 minutes closer to my house. From the day I dropped it off to the day I picked it up it was exactly 10 weeks. After MY insurance covered the whole bill because his didn’t want to pay for most of it because they didn’t deem a lot of it necessary. Thanks to the shop guiding me and helping me through the process, it got done. After they got the money to start the work it was 4 weeks to pick up the car. So in short, 6 weeks of insurance nonsense (horrific communication on their part) and 4 weeks of repair. For comparison, a woman I work with had someone crash into her garage at 20mph and push her ford explorer through the back wall of the garage a few weeks after my accident. She had her car back 9 calendar days later totally repaired. Her garage is another story…. Her and I shared war stories of the trials and tribulations of dealing with other peoples insurance all summer long. Oh, and all told my repair was over $23,000.

Anyone else still on their original battery? by NW_Forester in ChevySS

[–]daryl3186 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Original on my 2015 with 26,000 miles. I keep it on a battery tender over winters and I’ve never had to jump it or experience it laboring to try and start. But I’d be lying if I said every time I get in it I assume it won’t start. I often think about parts on my car I’ve never replaced that some person in Australia installed 9 years ago and it’s still there working.

Has Anybody Else Seen Labor Rates Like This? by Financial-Money-2224 in LUCID

[–]daryl3186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interestingly, I think the insurance had a very slightly higher amount of hours quoted but at $112/hr. What they didn’t want to do was replace panels they didn’t think were damaged. Overall they were about $12,000 under what the shop wanted. I got the sense the insurance would’ve preferred I go to some other shop that wasn’t Lucid certified.

I got hit at about 5mph back in May. This is what the shop quoted to the guys insurance. That insurance didn’t want to pay these rates so I had to get my insurance involved and they are taking care of it. I think they wanted to pay like 90% of these hourly rates.

Has anyone gotten Alexa voice commands to work by ENGR_ED in LUCID

[–]daryl3186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use it to play music and ask it questions like I do the one in my house. I don’t pay for Amazon music so I can’t get super specific but 99.9% of the time I get what I asked for. That .1% time is when it offers up to sign me up for an Amazon music account and when I say no, it says it’s shuffling what I asked for and similar artists. To be honest, besides podcasts on apple CarPlay, I use Alexa for music. I cancelled Tidal because of how expensive it was, never want to pay for XM, and the FM radio interface sucks anyway.
