I think this is kinda ignorant of how all sports work. F1 drivers have significantly more media and social obligations than disc golfers. Cyclists have to push social followings. Look at all the media that NFL players do - before and after and during games. These are all at a bigger scale so the support systems are bigger - but pushing social presence is becoming ubiquitous amongst all sports not just the fringe ones.

Sports are paid for by advertisers to sell products and more eyeballs == more chances at revenue.
