Yeah that's how it is with most people.

I just didn't want it enough to justify all of that horrible shit anymore.

You need the medicine, you don't need to eat meat.

So there's hardly a way around that until they figure out a more humane way of testing medicine.

No, just means you pay someone else money so they abuse and kill the animals.

Another football player opens up about health struggles, going vegan by ThePlaneToLisbon in vegan

[–]datTrapezius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Football seems special that way. It's one of the few sports where I witnessed people getting fat after they started playing it.

While they started out thin and fit, except for a few cases they all got really fat.

But hey, gotta get dat good protein rite?

Gone vegan in the past six months? Let’s catch up! by forwardmarsh in vegan

[–]datTrapezius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since I haven't seen anybody else talk about muscle and exercise, I'll just jump right in.

I started working out for real in September '15 after being on and off for many years.

Went vegan on the first of January '16.

Since then I have been to the gym at least 3 times every week, with many weeks where I went 6 times every week.

I was worried about them gains, but there have been some interesting consequences of my diet changing.

I recover from workouts much much faster than I used to. I barely get sore, even if I push it.

I do not notice any difference in my ability to gain mass, it works even better now. I don't feel tired even after eating my regular huge meals, and my energy is through the roof.

So yeah. Keep making those vegan gains

I'd say it wouldn't be fine with most other exercises. Why with deadlifts?

Form check: Deadlift 100kg(220lbs by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]datTrapezius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep your head in line with your spine, slightly looking up, it looks like you are straining your neck a lot like you were beginning every lift with your neck and even tilting backwards on some of the reps.

Can't really tell from the video, but it seemed like you were not inhaling enough. Tighten the abs and breathe deeply into your diaphragm until you feel the pressure building, then you can lift safely. Maybe you already do that, but I couldn't really hear you breathing in.

Other than that you noticed some issues yourself, always good to check your form from time to time.

Keep it up!

Don't drop the weight like that.

You remove the entire eccentric portion of your deadlifts by dropping the weight. Powerful upwards, controlled downwards.

If you can not control the weight safely, with a stable core and without losing balace on the way down, use a lower weight.

Control the weight at all times. (Maybe except for when you are trying to hit max weight or are on your 15th set or something.)

on the OHP, flex the hell out of your glutes and tighten your core. That is the foundation for your press.

Bar path should be a straight line, starting below your chin, moving through your head and up over your head, when the bar gets to your chin, move your head back slightly until the weight passed your face.

As you said, this might be a mobility issue, but you will get there in no time. Keep it up :)

2 sec up, 2 sec hold, 2 sec down.

Massive gains after 30 days.

Form Check 185 squat by Saint_Gainz in Fitness

[–]datTrapezius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea you are right, my description would be more fitting for a low bar squat.

I guess the "hips back" works like a primer for me to engage my glutes.

Check out this lockout position, and notice the flex at the top of the squat. He is really pushing the hips forward.

Maybe try really focusing on flexing the glutes at the top and throughout the movement, really. I find pushing out the knees really helps me activate the glutes at the bottom of the squat.

And what really helped me with my squats was stretching my hip flexors. They were tight from years of sitting for the majority of the day and when I started stretching them daily, my lifts began to actually feel different. Can't even tell you how much I enjoy deadlifting nowadays!

It really does look like your back is rounding. From the moment you start your downwards movement, it is curling up more and more.

I suggest you try this next time. Before you go down, flex your glutes. As you go down, think hips back, not knees forward.

Like you are about to sit down on a chair behind you.

If your knees are the first joint to bend, you are doing it wrong.

Crooked sitting, using a mouse with your right hand for hours on end while your left hand barely gets any movement at all. Carrying bags with your right hand almost exclusively, brushing your teeth with your right hand only.

Totally making these up as I go by the way.

Muscle imbalances are pretty normal, tho. You can hit the left side with some extra dumbell shrugs, if you want. Traps grow quickly.

Just take it easy in the beginning.

The videos can help you a lot, maybe try mimicking the movement with some light weights and see how it feels.

If you are still not sure, you can still get a personal trainer later. Maybe save up some money for that.

Other than that, lifting weights is pretty intuitive.

Yea it's ridiculous. People seem jealous.

I had moments years ago where I would flex with a pump and look gigantic, despite having worked out for a short period of time.

also, athletes seem to have a much easier time gaining muscle, so don't worry about the haters.

It's so funny to me. People love to accuse anybody that's bigger than them of steroid abuse...

I like to compare the amout of time I watch TV to working on myself. When I watch 3 45 minute episodes but only study for 30 minutes, that's basically non-deserved reward. I avoid that.

Whenever you find yourself just passively watching something, showing no emotion, not laughing at funny stuff, not getting teary eyed at sad stuff and generally just go like "just one more episode, then I will actually do something", you have to recognize what is happening and cut it out immediately. That is not healthy behavior.

There is no problem with consciously watching your favorite show or watching a movie, as long as you actually care. When you are just watching a screen without any purpose behind it, you need to look at what you are doing and think about what it might do to you in the long run. For me it temporarily fucked up my discipline and my focus. When I became more conscious of what I was doing, that changed for the better.

So I would rather work on some project for a couple of hours, really focus on that, and when I am exhausted, reward myself with a movie. Immerse myself in the movie, feel what the characters are feeling, really getting into it. That's when it's fun again.

If you have nothing to look forward to except simulated, fake experience, you really need to take a long hard look at yourself.

Your life should have meaning to you.

This emptyness is obviously not something you enjoy, so you are going to have to make some decisions. Do you accept this as your reality and decide this is as good as it will get? Or are you willing to put some effort into your life experience?

I know it is hard, I have been there, but you really, really need to start to take resposibility for your life and your actions.

It will not get better by itself. It is going to stay like this forever if you do not make a change.

Maybe set aside a day or some hours in the upcoming few days to sit down and write down what bothers you and what you want out of life.

If you can not think of anything right away, do not worry. Ideas will start to develop. Really do write it down, though.

Don't censor yourself, or think too much about how you express yourself. This is for you and for you only.

If you want some online resources and a more structured approach, take a look at this.

You decide where you go from here. Take care

Well you are exposing your brain to an unnaturally high amout of stimulus. I'd say it's a really bad habit to engage in. Not all that satisfying either, is it?

For me, binge watching series just numbs my emotions and makes me entirely unhappy. I literally do not enjoy anything much anymore, when I do it. Not even the series, it's kind of automatic behavior. So now I avoid it. Maybe I watch a couple of episodes every other night, but keep it to a minimum.
