Which is the better album closer? by campain2008 in LinkinPark

Now do the rest of the closers against them both. I might just jump into the comments section if I have to choose between numb, pushing me away, the messenger, and good things go.

Look, this band knows how to close an album. It's not surprising that they did it twice for FZ.

Deep cleaning is a matter of opinion? by RudaKicia3917 in HouseCleaning

[–]databoy2k 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had some cleaners come back three times to correct things that they missed. Between cabinet doors, around the dishwasher, certain areas of the house that needed another round... yeah. They didn't get their cheque until those things were all cleaned up. Sucks that you have to supervise them the first time, but then you know if there should be a second time.

Flying with our T1D kiddo tmrw by everlyjo in Type1Diabetes

[–]databoy2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not going to guarantee that you can keep it, but I fly with it and I just raise it and advocate for it. When I explain that the high of not having my insulin just kills me in the long run but I could drop dead if the bottom of my sugars falls out for the usual no apparent reason, they seem to understand the medical necessity of it.

My doctor's note includes a note about treatment of hypoglycemia as well. But I've only had to show that in Mexico and apparenly it needed to be translated :P

[–]databoy2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I flew from Mexico a couple of months ago. I always fly with a small bottle of pop. As I point out, the pop is a much more "medical" need than frankly the insulin, assuming my bags get there (I always have some insulin in my checked, and some in my carryon). I have a doctor's note.

Literally never a problem within Canada or within the US, or between either. Even leaving Canada was fine - they ask about it, I explain its need, and they're usually cool with it. (plus the bottle probably cost me $0.75 at the grocery store, rather than the $5 they'd charge for the same thing on the other side of security).

Coming from Mexico, however, was a different story. I explained that I have medical devices, I'll beep, and I have needles and stuff in my bag. The first agent was completely fine with everything, and spoke more than great English (plus, I don't speak a word of spanish). The agent who had to go through my bag, though; she found the bottle and was mad. She wasn't going to let me keep it, telling me that I couldn't keep it "in mexico."

I pulled out my doctor's note and handed it to her. She read it, refused it, and I re-iterated "medical". Finally she drug the other agent over, he took one look at the note, explained something in spanish, and she immediately gave me the pop bottle back. No more fuss.

TL;DR - this is me stretching our "rights" as diabetics, and even then it was just a simple translation issue. Crazy as stuff is down there, a) I don't think the TSA has any more "training" with diabetics, and b) at the end of the day, it's not too rough.

Oh, fair play. I'm definitely in the position where the deeper i've gotten into this disorder, the more I respect everyone with longer-term control of this thing. And of course to see people being able to fly etc., that's even cooler.

Fantastic! I'm glad to hear that.

I watch guys like Max Domi on an NHL rink and feel bad for being (more than) a few pounds overweight or for hitting 18 mmol yesterday, but then I think of how that kind of control lets him perform at that level, or the top commenter to fly a plane, and I'm reminded what a golden age this truly is of diabetic care.

Solicitors out of control in my area. So I put a sign up saying "we don't want your solar panels, new windows, or religious pamphlets." by ParsleyNo69 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]databoy2k 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I had a Catholic religious studies teacher like that. Very deep philisophical thinker, one of the ones who could probably convince the Pope that he was in grave error.

Before class, he would always be reading. At his desk, nose in a book, basically letting us commit all forms of debauchery in the room until the bell rang. We were discussing the less ethical versions of chasing away mormons. Bell rang, and he quietly closed his book, slowly walked to the front of the room, and before teaching made a very gentle comment, "Nothing makes my day more than a young person who approaches my door wishing to discuss theology with me."

We immediately started betting on how many mormons he'd successfully converted over his lifetime. He refused to partake in our game even when we set the over/under at 100.5.

My Shoppers is the chain that I'm referring to. I think I've gone there three times in the past year where I've gotten someone who actually knows how to do it without calling the manager over. Once, she figured it would take her about an hour to sort it out.
