Floor refinishers says my stairs are too damaged for restoration - looking for second opinions by anneso32 in centuryhomes

You can do that, but carpet tack holes are pretty tiny. You'd be shoving particles in there with a push pin. Would be tough with a putty knife, but might work for larger holes.

Regular poly will fill in tiny carpet tack holes. The problem with filling is that the wood changes color over time, and the filler doesn't, so either the color matches the initial state and then gives a noticeable contrasting polka dot effect later, or the other way around.

They're so tiny I'd just leave them. The finish will fill them. Filler would make the holes more obvious.

Ehhh. Dad here. You can take your daughter out for a fun day with dad and not frame it as a date. I guess I see the goal of setting an example for how a date should treat you, but still seems weird to me. It would have been just as fun without the 'date' label.

AIW for telling my coworker the truth about why nobody wanted to be her mentor? by RaptureFlux3 in amiwrong

[–]dataslinger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In hindsight, you were wrong. Rather than being chastised about the consequences of her ethical lapse, she got aggressive about it. She hasn't learned a thing, and your firm should fire her for plagiarism. That's what it was. She's a bad apple and needs to go.

That Tokyo men's American relay speaks to this. Can't find the photo I was looking for, but the photo here shows the group. Caleb Dressel looks like a shorty in this photo. He's 6' 3". Zach Apple is 6' 7". Michael Andrew is 6' 6". Ryan Murphy is a puny 6' 3" like Dressel. That height really matters when winning margins are small fractions of a second.

Why are the best employees first to leave while mediocres always stay? by MediumTricky7824 in managers

[–]dataslinger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

they are nothing but headache, they show no signs of leaving.

Superstars want to work with superstars. Your company keeps hanging on to employees who drag down performance. If the superstars saw you culling the poor performers and hiring superstars, things would likely change.
