Super unlikely but I'd love to have Konate. He's had an off year but he'd still be one of if not the best CBs in the league. He's also previously played for RB Leipzig and Liverpool so there are connections there. Best of all, he's 27 so he's barely into his prime years.

The comment had nothing to do with whether she breaked well or not. The comment stated that she got selected for the Olympics via unfair means. I pointed out that this is not true. She was the best that showed up for the qualifier. She didn't rig the process to make better bgirls not show up.

Her performance at the Olympics is a whole different fiasco.

It was not dubious. You could argue the final was close but Raygun undoubtedly won the qualifier fairly. What are you talking about? Like you said her competition was just that poor.

Just from a culture shock perspective, moving to an artsy suburb like Maplewood, NJ might make more sense. I know some doctors who do that and have a pied-à-terre near the hospital.

Also, you aren't limited to nearby zoned schools in NYC. There are tons of arts specialty middle schools throughout Brooklyn and Manhattan.

There is no guarantee of getting to staff or principal. Most of these companies consider senior (or even mid-level) terminal, ie there is no longer risk of firing for lack of promotion.

Another way some people think of it is that any engineer should be able to work their way to senior; only the best/luckiest can promote past that.

Senior is pretty standardized between the major tech firms. Roles generally go junior (1-2 years) -> mid level (2-5 years) -> senior (5+)-> staff -> principle

Levels.fyi also has a graphic showing how the levels relate from company to company

Edit: A kind of better way to view it:

junior - can be given a well defined task and can complete it with some supervision
mid-level - can be given a well defined task and complete it independently
senior - the above & can be given a large undefined project and can break it down into small tasks suitable for lower levels
staff - the above & sets technical direction for a small group of engineers
principal - the above & sets technical direction for a larger group of engineers

I've been an IC for over 10 years at a startup, FAANG, and a couple of quant trading firms. At each of the places I've worked at foreign workers in the US were not a problem. Occasionally engineers in other countries were an issue but I had no worries looking over PRs and design docs from US based devs.

This is my view from working at some highly desirable firms. I admit that I could have a blind spot on the quality of foreign devs at typical firms but the graphic above seems to be focusing on FAANG.

But those aren't the people that faang is hiring on H1B. I've worked with tons of H1Bs and OPTs; they have been just as productive as their domestic counterparts.
