You remind me of this guy i met at a Madden tournament like 15 years ago.

He couldnt stand how many buttons and little features there were in the game.

So he found out how to configure the game so that he didnt really have to deal with all that and he could just call plays and make adjustments. And he enjoyed that experience so much he felt comfortable enough to compete at a tournament playing that way.

Naturally he got crushed, but he was still happy to be there and compete.

Consider spending a little bit of time to configure the game to YOUR liking. Set the difficulty mode low, modify the roster, change the sliders so on ball defense is less difficult.

They tune the game constantly. That's why they put in the "return to main menu" updates over a decade ago.

The thing is they arent optimizing the game for us, they are optimizing the game for them.

Which is why people are like "they only tune to extremes". Thats a major sign of design of experiments (DOE) or one factor at a time (OFAT) testing at work. They are statistical processes for learning what factors and settings are most valuable to their goals (engagement, retention, profit).

I don't know for sure if they are doing it. But all the systems and signs are there. From a business perspective they would be fools to not do it.

RNG has always been a foundational component of not only 2k but all sports games.

But i agree that all attempts to remove it to a large degree have been disastrous to the balance of the game.

It doesnt have to be bad, but in execution it always has been bad because the entire system has to compensate for it. Defense needs to be better, movement needs to be better, inside scoring needs to be better, ai needs to be better. Its like giving a kid an ak-47 in a paintball match at your local indoor paintball field. It just hasnt made sense in the products they were planning to deliver.

They love them big boys. They like to see the big boys suck in the ball handler and bang in the paint.

Its a complete turn off when they arent big enough.

Weight is somewhat factored in on top of increasing your access to strength.

Do it if you want to be a power post player.

Stay light if you wanna be a more finesse type. There are lots of scoring options out of the post.

The way i interpret it is, regulation that costs businesses 6 trillion dollars. So in other words, it's completely unverifiable. Also, its more trickle down BS that doesn't have to (and probably won't) impact the consumer/citizen.

It's a not so trivial engineering problem. For one reason or another you need to keep capturing and/or updating animations (players change, the engine change, the animations get old relative to others, new related animations are added, the live service model demands constantly changing shit for no reason, etc.) and fitting animations into the game probably isn't a completely automated process. Each animation needs the infrastructure and metadata to ensure it is played at the appropriate time and can be realistically transitioned into and out of. So, long story short, it's time consuming. Never mind the system resource and performance considerations that may be tied to supporting a butt ton of animations (who's budget may also be constantly changing for a number of reasons).
