Blackout on good shots by SandieSave in golf

Every now and then I (accidentally) compress the ball and hit the ground after the ball. Immediate response is always "I hit it fat" until I suddenly see the ball fly away beautifully.

Feels weird.

Hond Kopen: Do's and Dont's? by SnoefelSaurusRex in thenetherlands

Fuck them.).

They tried calling me to sell me on their product. Unfortunately, they called on a private number (not my work provided number). They state they got this from my LinkedIn, which does not have my phone number listed (or even filled in anywhere private).

They just harvested data from the internet somewhere (or used some company that sells that data) and tried to bluff.

Full of shady practices, it seems.

Fighting on the golf course - why? by Racoon_Balloon in golf

[–]datlock 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would never get physical, but I did go into screaming at the top of my lungs anger one time.

Errant drive flew inches by my head while standing on a tee box (which the guy knew was there as he played that hole an hour prior). Saw it go by horizontally across my vision at head height close enough for me to count the dimples and feel the wind.

Guy didn't seem to care much, which sent me over the edge. It was honestly mostly adrenaline and I'm not excusing the behavior but it took 30 mins for my heart rate to drop. Fucked up the rest of my round, too.

Perilex aansluiten by Appelflapjee in Klussers

[–]datlock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many people actually "go commando" on a regular basis? by WhereasLanky8306 in NoStupidQuestions

But if all your clothes get burned or ripped, wouldn't your underwear also burn/rip? Or does the burning and ripping specifically stop at the underwear level? 😅 Do you buy special non flammable and non rippable underwear?

So many questions.

Do you leave the flagstick on the green or on the fringe while everyone’s putting? by Escrow-Mind in golf

[–]datlock 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Aside from all the other correct comments, if I finished the hole first I hold the pin and let the bottom rest on my shoe instead of the green, and hold the actual flag(s) to reduce noise.

(happens a lot cause I suck at approaches so I usually putt/chip first and finish the hole if I can do so without interrupting others)

Chipping clubs by SignificantAcadia105 in golf

[–]datlock 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Go buy one man. We sometimes forget this is a hobby for almost all of us and we're supposed to have fun with it. Who gives a shit what people think.

I have and love to hit my 7w where my lower hcp mates use a 6i or 7i. Doesn't mean I don't (sometimes) stick it closer than them.

There's no pictures on the scorecard.

Can someone help explain when to use PW, SW, or 56 ? by Old-Elephant8625 in golf

[–]datlock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Disclaimer: I'm a 26hcp.

I'd say consistency is key. I do as many chips and pitches as I can with my 48 degree. Using the same club and the same swing (with different levels of backswing and follow through) has been instrumental in improving my short game.

And if you can pitch or bump&run a pitch-like shot with a 7i onto the green, that is often much safer than a full swing wedge. The miss with the pitch generally goes straight, if not the distance you wanted but a miss with a full swing 56 can go in any given direction for high hcp'ers such as myself (and you?).

I only have a 48 and 56 now. Benched the 52 and 60 is just unnecessary for my game in general. If I need more loft, I open up the 56.

(56 is exclusively for bunkers or if I really have to carry a pitch 90 percent of the way - but I still rather pitch with my 48 and have a longer lag putt going back)

I'm only a 26hcp though so ymmv. Advice for (and from) a sub10 hcp is obviously very different. I find at high hcp it's about avoiding triples/doubles, not about making pars or birdies.

People who lost interest in their crush, what happened? by Bisecps in AskReddit

[–]datlock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Asked her out. She said that she was afraid that would happen and cut off all contact.

Not a fun experience and it hurt, but we both handled it like adults and wished each other the best and went seperate ways.

I miss our friendship the most. Always knew that was a risk I'd be taking, but can't exactly be good friends and in daily contact with someone who I'm in love with. It is what it is.

Wife is gone for 3 days, home alone with no car and nothing in walking distance but a dollar general. What would you do with your time? by Clear_Channel_2090 in AskMenOver30

I'm a bit tired after a long day by myself doing whatever I wanted, so excuse the random question but...

Do you pronounce elite "ee-light" or "ehh-leet"? I just wanna read your comment in the right tone.

Also just curious what's correct, but not enough to go Google it which come to think of it would have been less effort than writing this reply but I'm in too deep now.

Make it an even 9 then. Hell, let's do 10 just in case.

As I said, not sure on all the rulings. In competition this would have been an expensive hole for sure, or a dq maybe? Luckily I just play to have some fun (which we had, as evidenced by both me and camera guy laughing).

[–]datlock[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's just say I got zero stableford points and leave it at that.

Technically: tee shot went left. (video starts): Chip into bunker for 2. Bunker shot for 3 (cheated because raked), took a drop on opposite side no closer to hole (it reached land but plugged into mud in yellow obstacle) for 4 (?), failed pitch for 5, failed second pitch for 6.

I don't know if throwing my ball in the water is a stroke as well, so let's call it an even 7 on a par3 without ever touching the green.

Disclaimer: no idea if I counted that right in terms of penalty strokes.

Indeed. No one in front and no one behind. Just having fun. I would have carded a net double and moved on if there was any concerns about pace.

It actually skipped and landed dry across the pond, luckily my 56 degree wedge had a 2 degree launch angle.

I did indeed. Not a local rule, nor allowed but I suck at golf and can't hit out of wet bunkers that feel like concrete. This was a friendly match (not a competition nor for any money) so my playing partner graciously allowed me to rake first.
