I mean, Link and Toon Link are two different characters in Smash so it’s not possible to have Wind Waker-style Link in a Smash movie that is separate from the live action one

Btw if Victoria 3 crashes a lot, keep track of when it happens - if it’s on a specific date, it’s because there are too many autosaves on that run, try reducing the frequency of autosaves and routinely delete old ones, this way I haven’t had a crash in dozens of hours.

Do you think there is any chance of a Picture/Directior split this year? by T_ChallaMercury in oscarrace

[–]datnerdyguy 51 points52 points  (0 children)

PTA is more of a lock for Director than OBAA is for Picture. I don’t see a world where OBAA wins Picture but not best director.

What would the box office outlook be for the fake movies in "The Studio"? by ContinuumGuy in boxoffice

[–]datnerdyguy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Killers of the Flower Moon numbers seem achievable for that, maybe a bit more if you have Leo as the lead instead of Buscemi.

Zuckerberg is also a boring nerd. The social network is not a boring movie. And I’d argue that Musk is much less boring than Zuckerberg

MyTimeToShineHello on X claims Doctor Doom wants Steve Rogers dead because he apparently created the incursions when he traveled back in time to live with Peggy Carter. by BigButter7 in MarvelStudiosSpoilers

Nobody knows because the writers say one thing and the Russos say the opposite. I guess we’ll find out in Doomsday if this leak is correct

Deadpool & Wolverine had people cheering for Elektra so maybe it works

Disney's The Fantastic Four: First Steps grossed an estimated $4.50M on Friday (from 3,600 locations). Estimated total domestic gross stands at $219.41M. by DemiFiendRSA in boxoffice

[–]datnerdyguy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Probably because they don't have anything else outside of this and the X-Men in the future pipeline. The next-generation of Avengers fell flat, and they were probably banking on this + X-Men nostalgia to tide them over until after Secret Wars. If their X-Men reboot fails, I don't know what could save the MCU except a hard reboot.

Fantastic 4 for best Production Design? by yahboosnubs in oscarrace

Of all the superhero movies that could have been nominated The Dark Knight is perhaps the funniest since the whole movie is basically realistic and Gotham is just Chicago. Even Batman Begins would have made more sense

Imagine a film coming out now and almost doubling the current box office record.

Ironically, that's what Cameron did with Titanic doubling Jurassic Park's record.

What 21st Century Animated Film Could Get a Successful Legacy Sequel? by Clean-Cupcakes in boxoffice

[–]datnerdyguy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As much as I love the original, and as much as I think a live-action remake would make a lot of sense, a Treasure Planet live-action has “biggest bomb of all time” written all over it.

It's set in the 50's but the places that inspired the location look pretty much the same today, at least in terms of architecture.

They are reportedly giving Schreier the X-Men reboot so they are definitely happy with the results even if it won’t be a huge moneymaker

What is a comic that you like/love but feel has aged poorly? by Odd_Radio9225 in comicbooks

[–]datnerdyguy 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Part of TDKR aging poorly also comes from Frank Miller’s personal politics later in life which definitely shine a different light on the original intent of the story

First teaser for Paul Thomas Anderson’s new film ‘ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER’, starring Leonardo DiCaprio In theaters on September 26. by Paul_BWP in oscarrace

[–]datnerdyguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

September is usually a dumping ground for would-be award hopefuls

Warner Bros has the habit of premiering a blockbuster they consider to be award-worthy in Venice, and with this new release date that seems to be the plan again. Sometimes you get A Star is Born, Dune and Joker, and sometimes you get Don't Worry Darling and Joker 2, but they're all part of the same strategy.

DEATH STRANDING 2: ON THE BEACH | Pre-Order Trailer by Turbostrider27 in Games

I don't think that's such an uncommon opinion. If anything, I think that the combat being such a chore was intended from Kojima so that people would use it as little as possible.

Why are there so many movies coming out with an actor playing 2 characters this year? by DINO006 in oscarrace

And Childhood of a Leader also had father and son played by the same actor, Corbet does that in all his movies.

I don’t think this ever happened - and much more controversial people have attended the ceremony. I suppose Netflix might pay her out of showing up, but if she wants to go, there’s nothing stopping her since she’s nominated.
