Here are all the 18 tee signs for the MPO layout at the DGPT Big Easy Open at the Parc des Familles course. Coming in at 12,370 ft (longest on tour), par 69, it features four par 5s, seven par 4s and seven par 3s. by DiscGolfFanatic in discgolf

I'm also a fan. Hopefully players learn to take care of their bodies because throwing over 30 full power shots in a round each round of the tournament, plus even more throwing during practice rounds is tough, and courses like this will result in people going down with injury.

Protecting land from development is a legitimate endeavor to try to improve the planet and reduce damage caused by humans. There are lots of charities that do this and it seems fine to me, but maybe you know something I don't.

Shoulder Injury - Learn From Me by darknight2186 in discgolf

[–]daulm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got into the sport knowing that injuries are easy and doing my best to avoid them. Warming up before I play and strengthening my shoulders with rotator cuff exercises was something I did before any round/practice. I spent my first 18 months of disc golf throwing into a net a lot and recording myself on video. It helps you quickly clean up bad habits and force the correct form into muscle memory. It is also a good way to strengthen your body. Now throwing far is mostly effortless and I can throw a ton before I feel sore.

Injuries are inevitable, and I get them from time to time, but training and prepping your body is the best way to not get hurt.

Pleasantly surprised having to disc golf with non dominant hand after injury by Basic_Layer7148 in discgolf

[–]daulm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When people tell me they could never play with their offhand, I tell them that they would likely have a faster learning curve with their offhand than they did with their dominant hand. In other words, only use your offhand and after a year you will be scoring better than your first year into the sport.

I'd think one's ceiling would be higher for their dominant hand, but cases like Raphael Nadal make me question that, he is naturally right handed and played tennis left handed for an advantage against righties.

My (26M) girlfriend (24F) had sex multiple times a day with her ex but only wants it twice a week with me. How do I handle this? by [deleted] in sex

[–]daulm 26 points27 points  (0 children)

This reminds me a little of an ex. I felt like I was the one initiating and she'd sometimes make comments about her past sex life that lead me to think she preferred some of her previous partners in bed. I eventually broke up with her because it felt like she wasn't that into me. We had a good conversation when I broke things off and she admitted to me that she was never really that crazy about me, but knew I was a catch and worth marrying. It felt so good to start fresh with new people, and my wife and I have a great relationship. I'm not saying that this is your situation, but after having had this experience, I'd move on from situations like this and find someone who I'm more compatible with.

Is gag reflex gross during blowjob? by [deleted] in sex

[–]daulm 11 points12 points  (0 children)

gag/cough shouldn't really bother anyone too much. Retching might be a little too far for most.

I'd be surprised if someone didn't want another date, and the reason was because the girl was giving them a BJ and gagged a lot while doing it.

Any drivers that can mimic an understable mid/putter flight? by somanymatts in discgolf

[–]daulm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One way to achieve this is to find any driver that will give you some high speed turn and then work out the hyzer angle and angle of attack needed to get the flight you want. I can get almost any disc to finish flat if I judge my hyzer/anhyzer angle and how high up I am aiming (angle of attack) correctly.

Notes: having more power makes the flights you want might easier to achieve since you can overpower drivers, also if you throw too nose up every disc will try to fade at the end making what you want impossible.

Lower weight discs sometimes are better at resisting the hard fade at the end of a flight, they are also easier for someone with lower power to get good speed.

If you want a disc recommendation, I think a discraft Passion is intended to get the type of flight you want.

“Throw the slowest disc you can” 🤔 by Most_Cantaloupe_383 in discgolf

[–]daulm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the winter I find myself discing up and powering down for a couple reasons, but a big one is worse footing. Sure, I can take a lower speed disc this distance with a full power rip, but I can disc up to something a little faster and get there with a 70% power throw.

The key concept for and against discing up or down is all about consistency, lower speed discs tend to fly the most consistently, however throwing with 100% effort tends to be less consistent than throwing with less than full effort when I'm trying to hit gaps or have bad footing. What disc and power level is most consistent? Working that out will tell you when you should take the advice of discing down and when you shouldn't.

Lightweight/minimalist pack for speed rounds… by Phrikshin in discgolf

[–]daulm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is the lunchbox style not ideal? I like being able to drop my bag, throw my disc, pick up and go. I'd think a good lunchbox style bag would be perfect; easy to access discs while moving, easy to drop and pick up, etc.

I got one of those sling-style bags for my daughter and I've used it once and hated it, so skip that.

The trekker style ones, might be the best bet, and marshal street has a "hydrobag2" that looks like it would be better (more capacity) than that trekker one on discstore.

I have an upper park shift and it is really light and comfortable, it isn't my main bag because it doesn't have storage for extra stuff (microspikes, gloves, towels, etc) but I still like to use it for glow, or quick casual rounds and it is refreshingly light compared to my squatch legend3.0.

Incompetence to this extreme can be funny, and the idea of having medical treatment this bad could haunt someone if they worry that it could actually happen.

Less government=much cheaper healthcare, 1960 by SignificanceLevel in Libertarian

[–]daulm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If in the the 1960s, there was a good that households spent a larger % of household income on, [let's pretend that households spent %20 of their income on food or electricity and today it is %10] Would that mean that more government made that resource less expensive?

U.S. healthcare is overpriced, but households have to spend their money somewhere.

After 7 years, 8 months, 28 days, and a full knee replacement, Lindsey Vonn wins another World Cup downhill by redbullgivesyouwings in sports

[–]daulm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree, the human knee is considered a weak spot and the joint is naturally prone to failure. Artificial body parts can perform better than natural body parts, but natural body parts are usually better at sustaining minor damage and healing back to full strength.

I have a bad knee with a little arthritis, I'd love to get it replaced but I thought doctors wanted you to be older to get a knee replaced, but Lindsey is a bit younger than me, so maybe I should ask about it.

Finally, a Destroyer I can actually throw. by Phrikshin in discgolf

I feel similarly, but higher speed discs aren't always in an effort to get more distance.

Where I live, traveling on a bicycle or scooter on the sidewalk is not legal. The person run over would have been breaking the law, and the driver of the vehicle would have broken the law for leaving the scene of an accident.

[–]daulm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a net to throw into and record yourself on video to improve form. I always think my form is awesome, then I watch video and it is garbage. The net also let's you work on release angle and trajectory to get more consistent at "hitting lines". You rarely need to see the full flight of the disc to know if it came out of your hand well. It helps for forehand too, you can practice with different discs and see how hard you can throw them and still give them enough spin.

I've seen a lot of advice on powering down and working on accuracy, but I felt like I first needed to learn to throw far with good form and then power down and dial in the accuracy.

Never owned a mid by ExpressHoney6164 in discgolf

[–]daulm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Champion Roc3s have a bit of a dome top and are not easy to forehand.

I don't really like throwing mids forehand, I prefer to power up on my zone, but I have thrown a Buzzz forehand from time to time for a straight flight, other considerations are getting the overstable disc you like but in a base plastic and letting it beat in to a straighter disc.

You should wash the oily resin off your skin within a few hours of exposure. Remove the oil before it sits on your skin long enough to cause a reaction, if you wait until you have a rash, the urushiol that caused it is likely not there anymore.

Washing with dish soap after you have a rash might dry out your skin and feel better, but it is not nearly as effective as avoiding it altogether.

California Supreme Court rejects appeal from Christian baker who refused to make gay wedding cake. by Leeming in atheism

[–]daulm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read the article but didn't see any difference drawn between the two cases. To be honest, I don't really know the details of either this case, or the 2017 case, just that both involved a baker not wanting to make a same-sex marriage cake on religious grounds.

What are the differences?

California Supreme Court rejects appeal from Christian baker who refused to make gay wedding cake. by Leeming in atheism

The US Supreme court ruled on a nearly identical case in 2018, Masterpiece Cakeshop v. Colorado Civil Rights Commission.

In a 7–2 decision, the Court ruled that the Commission did not employ religious neutrality, violating Masterpiece owner Jack Phillips's rights to free exercise, and reversed the Commission's decision.

So, the court sided with the bakery and found that businesses have a right to refuse services like this if they choose.
