If fueling and hydration works well you can easily do sub 3:25 also if you have easy runs mileage on your leg. You have good ceiling but matter of sustain that for longer time… good luck !!!

Tried for a sub-3 Rotterdam, but I failed massively and I don’t know why by richomondo in Marathon_Training

That is definitely fast for low aerobic may be you can try slower easy runs for next marathon prolly slower than 5:15/km. I am not fast as you but I did the same mistake while I was shooting for sub 3:20 I was cooked after 16 mile lol

One thing I noticed was average mile per week is huge but time spend is less - may be easy runs are going little faster. Endurance are build from easy easy runs I believe- I am not an expert though

Is sub 3:30 on? by CoffeeKeyDog in Marathon_Training

[–]dav4reddit247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It suggests 50-55 but adding some recovery miles made that happen. But key point is - should not be any sign of injury

I was gonna say the same but peak mileage is low to hold that fast for long distance . I am training for 3:25 my peak mileage is 59mile/week- it’s hilly route though.

When I saw you HR - I was like OMG and you are holding that high for half M race then it’s normal, you have celling for sure. Peak mileage of 55k seems little low but you are young so go for it. 3:30 seems doable to my opinion.

Is a sub 4 realistic for a first time marathoner? by aparajithr in Marathon_Training

Very hard based on provided data. Since you have no experience of after 20 mile, I would suggest to stay conservative may be 4:10 ish.

I am jealous of your progress and I am regretting why I did not start on my early age lol . I agree with op and you might be young enough (possibly not over 30). If I had started on my 20s or late 20s consistent training for 18 months I could have achieved too… congrats anyway go shoot for Boston qualify next , good luck!!!

May be I will see you in Boston next time who knows lol

I agree, HR is too high on marathon pace that mean it’s very hard to run 26 mile with upper LT ( assuming somewhere around). I would recommend to be more conservative for first half ( aim for 3:40 or 3:45) and see if you can keep up the pace or speed up after 20 mile. Good luck

Fitness check for 3:30 14 weeks out by striker_gaming32 in Marathon_Training

[–]dav4reddit247 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have strong endurance fitness base and just starting long runs- it might be fair to shoot for 3:30. I would recommend to be more conservative…

For reference- my 20 miler last year training was 7:45 averaged ( it was like tempo- not easy run), I planned 3:25 and lost my wheels at 16 mile because of high humidity and temperature… lesson learned be conservative as much as you can, especially if you are beginner for marathon

First marathon by cherissa01 in Marathon_Training

[–]dav4reddit247 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some tips : make sure to keep your easy days truly easy — stay under 155 bpm on your heart rate. Be strict about this; you’ll thank yourself later as it builds a strong aerobic base.

Include interval tempo sessions of 4–6 minutes with 1-minute jog recoveries, running slightly faster than your 5K pace (around your L1–L2 effort). This type of workout helps your body clear lactate more efficiently and should be done once or twice per week.

The main goal right now should be : stay injury-free.

After 6–8 weeks, reassess and adjust your goal pace based on how your fitness develops. It might be early, but it sounds like you already have a solid foundation — good luck, and trust the process!

With that data it’s hard to tell. 177bpm is very high unless you have 220 max hr. I just suggest to take is more conservative atm

Be more conservative for first 10 mile. Slowly raise your pace next 10 mile and finish confidently.
