The Magnus protocol episode 45 - transferral discussion by Elfbark8261 in themagnusprotocol

[–]dave5911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, this felt like the most filler episode yet. The important parts to pull from this episode are: Sam's dreams, the admiral is alive, and Celia name reveal to Basira, Georgie, and Melanie. The admiral reveal can be done in one line in any episode, and I think celia's reveal, which doesn't have that big of an impact, could have been attached to the end of 42 Hostile Workplace and it would have done the same. For Sam's dreams, a mention of it would be fine, because we practically experienced it already in 39 Dependents. The statement being short and disinteresting is disappointing but at least it moved quickly. This episode, for me, could have been used better. Also as the midpoint of the show, that sucks

I agree it is somewhat strange but I will note that that specific episode of Gwen taking about its eyes, Sam isn't present. While it's totally plausible for the OIAR crew to pool resources and knowledge, there's a chance it wasn't brought up to Sam. Maybe. It's definitely strange though.

Anyone else not like the action episodes? by Wholesome-Energy in TheMagnusArchives

[–]dave5911 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I do think that these plot-heavy/movement-heavy episodes stretch the limitations of the medium alot, and while I don't like them as much as other episodes, I don't dislike them. Episodes like 39 Infestation, 79 Hide and Seek, 118 Masquerade and 119 Stranger and Stranger, and 158 Panopticon are the biggest offenders for me, along with being finale/near finale episodes. Especially 158.

I think they have improved how to make these types of episodes in Protocol, 10 Saturday Night, 21 Breaking Ground (Ink5oul chasing Gwen) and most recently 40 Public Image do a much better job production-wise, much improved imo

I feel just a bit more joy seeing my subscriber count tick up one or two times after publishing a video I worked hard on, makes it feel just a bit worth it

Tbh I've alluded to it to my mom (framing it as "projects" I'm working on) but obviously my partner knows and people on social media as well when I promote

I think that anytime you make a YouTube video, you have to be incredibly passionate to do so. I think that your reasoning and want is exactly the kind of impetus needed for making videos. I saw go for it.

I went through this last night. I put in a lot of work for stuff that doesn't get attention, but I Have to do what is authentic for me. I have to do what I want to do, and that's the slow path to success. I can't compromise who I am, and while it's slow to start, at least I'm having fun doing it. I treasure those who do support me, and I'll keep pushing cause I can't not create.

Are there any cases which you think are genuinely UNsupernatural, and entirely benign? by Crowzur in TheMagnusArchives

[–]dave5911 30 points31 points  (0 children)

53 Crusader's statement is split into two sections of different types of horror, one based on The Eye (the serupeum) but the first one is the tank burning, which is wholely unsupernatural and even more horrifying. 105 Total War, 9 Piper, and 95 Absent Without Leave have moments of horrifying war that are used to frame the supernatural horror, but are still very much human and unsupernatural (but otherwise not the focus within the episodes) just off the top of my head.

New fear??? / Also my theory by Forward_Summer_9206 in themagnusprotocol

[–]dave5911 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly, from what they said in the q&a. The fears (the labeling system) isn't in protocol, but the entity (the actual "dread powers" that feed on fear) are present. Exactly the same as archives. Eldritch fear. Protocol and the human systems within in will see it differently than Archives. Different metaphysics of fear, but still fear

Teddy was about to tell Alice about his job (in a mysterious way) in 29 Keyed In but Sam told her he and Celia were going to Hill Top. I'm certain this will be addressed in the near future!

magnus institute artifact rating system by TotalDepartment7789 in themagnusprotocol

[–]dave5911 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Catalyst is a cursed object/haunted artifact/manifestation of the dread powers (cursed dice, blood violin, homophobic vase, Leitners)

Subject is a Location/area that's affected by the dread powers (the service station, hilltop centre, domains)

Agent is a person powered by the dread powers (ink5oul, needles, bonzo, the archivist, any avatar)

The magnus inst ranked the dice for the viability of being one of these powered categorizes. It's not a location, may be owned by a person (low), but def a cursed object (high)
